ds1 (4.5yrs) is being seen by ed psyc to help him intergrate into school. Not sure what the issue is at the moment - but he is having grommets in 2 weeks and we're hoping that helps - but one of the issues is that he takes such a long time to do things, I would describe him as a daydreamer/away with the fairies most of the time. He does do what he's asked but it takes him a while to get round to it, we see the same at home when asked, for example, to get dressed in the morning. Ed psyc suggested a timer - any recommendations? I know you can get great ones for SEN but I was thinking of something like a kitchen timer (as would be cheaper), would have to be digital and have a bell/audible finish so he can't ignore it (obviously the louder the better!) any suggestions?
or even any suggestions on how to keep a child on track and finish an activity in the time you want them too!

The one I use is from the states. You will probably be able to find something a little closer to home.

It is a 'Flylady' timer - if you look on the 'shop' section on www.flylady.net you will see what I mean. I must have had mine for nearly 5 years now, living with us it's had to be pretty indestructable (not the least clumsy of people you see Smile).

Thanks, I've ended up borrowing some sand timers, actually not had to use them as much as I thought I would, maybe they'll just help get him started
