Rather than subjective experiences, it would be better to look at the empirical evidence:
pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/reprint/pediatrics;102/5/1217
'Vision problems can interfere with the process of learning; however, vision problems are not the cause of primary dyslexia or learning disabilities..Diagnostic and treatment approaches that lack scientific evidence of efficacy, including eye exercises, behavioral vision therapy, or special tinted filters or lenses, are not endorsed and should not be recommended.'

Daily eye tracking type exercises are helping my DS. I would definately not dismiss the idea of vision therapy.

My DS has to:

  • Look at a clock and say 12,6,1,7 etc to get his eyes moving properly

  • In a dark room have two torches and his torch has to follow my torch

  • Read the first word and then the last word of every line in a page of text.

After 6 weeks of this and other OT exercises we are seeing a variety of benefits.
