Which sling/carrier for a hot climate?

Can anyone recommend a sling/carrier for hot weather?

I'm in Australia and have just bought an Ergo carrier and infant insert for dd2 (4wks). The insert is like wrapping her in a duvet, and as we're going into summer here I'm worried about her getting too hot.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You might well be better off with something like a gauze wrap.

You can also get mei tais and soft structured carriers with solarveil or solarweave panels. Both these fabrics are thin and have UV protection.

If you look on the For Sale or Trade Board on this site you might see something suitable.

I used to have an all solarveil mei tai, which was great for a small baby, and I've seen a couple of similar ones come up. Some OMTs (Octi Mei Tais), are all solarveil.

If your DD2 was a few months older I'd say look for a Solarveil Bamberoo SSC or MT but I think they would be much too big for her.

But it might be worth contacting the woman who makes Bamberoos as she does do custom carriers and would probably be happy to make a smaller one. Her website is www.bamberoobaby.com

And you might also be interested in these. They aren't slings but carrier covers so you could dress your DD very lightly without worrying about the lack of sun protection.

Fantastic advice! I like the look of the bamberoo. Hadn't thought of checking out the sale board either. Thanks Moomin

Yamo baby carrier is a really fresh backpack. Also Ellaroo slings are very good for hot weather, and Hoppediz has a range of slings especially design for the summer.

I lived in Singapore until recently and didn't have a pram and used a Calin Bleu gauze and it was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Non-stretchy but breathable and good grip to get a good tie.
