Can I use a carrier while pregnant?

I'm 13 weeks and use my ergo a lot with my 18mo DD but because it has a waist support not sure if i should be using it. It feels comfortable at the mo but for how long?
Is there a carrier out there that i could use for longer?
Any suggestions and advise really appreciated.
Thanks

Some people carry right up to the end - I think as long as it feels comfortable. I think wraps and mei-tais are more flexible - I have certainly seen photos of people using wraps tied "tibetan" (above the bust) with very big bumps!

My midwife is very strict - she says I shouldn't lift more than 10kg. Joints, pelvic floor don't like extra weight...

I used a back pack carrier for DS (now 14 months old) while pregnant with DD (now 4 weeks old) until I was about 7 months PG.

I only stopped because I was not happy about going over the stiles incase I fell (was dog walking) so stuck to a buggy after that.

Have'nt had any problems before or after.

I'm 18 weeks and will still carry DD (2.5) in a MT or a wrap (tied rucksack) - I don't find a tibetan tie so comfortable, but so far I've got away with just tieing straps over the bump and its been fine. To be fair, I don't tend to carry her for long or very often any more as she's a pretty good walker, but I wouldn't hesitate if it was needed.

thanks so much for the advice. Not sure i could manage carrying DD at 7mnths pregnant Harimosmummy! You must be made of tougher stuff!
I'm going to stick with the ergo until its not comfy any more and then investigate tibetan ties [google search tibetan ties as we speak!]

Wow Villageslingmummy! Are you a super mum or what! With my first 2 pregnancies it was all i could do to carry my handbag!! Perhaps i'm just very unfit lol!

Seriously though, what kind of carrier do you use? What position?

I'm 14 weeks and still using mei tai to carry DD (2.1) when I need to. I carried her round the shops the other day for 2 hours and was still comfy when I got home. I tie the waist strap under my bust and it's comfortable. I think you just need to listen to your body, if it's uncomfortable then investigate different ways of carrying or give it a break.
