Is there a maximum time baby can spend in Moby Wrap?

At 4 weeks, DD has finally reached 8lbs and so we can start using the Moby Wrap- very exciting! Tried her out in it today and we both loved it- she was soothed and I was able to load the dishwasher (but don't grass to DH about that!!).

I was just wondering if there is a maximum time DD should spend in the wrap, in the same way that for example it is not recommended for LOs to spend excessive amounts of time in car seats and so on. I mean, I'm not planning on baby wearing for 20 hours a day or anything, just wanted to check I'm not doing anything detrimental to DD's development- spine, neck, head etc?

TIA!

You can use a Moby wrap for a prem baby, no idea why you thought you had to wait til 8lb?

Anyway no limit on time, my babies lived in the Moby wrap, took them out for nursing and nappy changes and that was about it! Especially for numbers, 2, 3, 4 and 5 as it was much easier to have baby in the sling and get on with stuff.

Baby will let you know if they want out.

And no not detrimental as a Moby wrap supports the spine, neck etc properly smile

Just looking at the Moby site and they now say 8lb on there... Odd that's New. Mine says suitable for even prem babies in the instruction booklet. Saying that all mine were more than8lb at birth but I lent it to my sister who used it for her little one and he was 6lb?

Anyway it doesn't matter but not sure when or why they changed that advice.

Thanks for your reply! Good to know as DD loves being in there so far and it's great having free hands! Yes, DD was 5lb 7oz at birth and I was desperate to get her in the Moby so was waiting until 8lb but I don't really know why, I'm sure she would've been fine in there even when she was tiny!
