Hi everyone, some questions about carrying my 8 month-old DD... she is a pram-hater but is happy as a happy thing in a sling :)

I currently use a mei tei (Maya Tie) on loan from SIL - this generally is working OK for me, but is a bit faffy for DH's taste so thinking we should move to a SSC instead, for him to just clip and go. I have contacted our local sling library to see if I can borrow a couple but not heard back - unfortunately I work on the days the library is open for loans so can't get there in person.

Seems the ergo is popular here? V scared of ordering one without trying since they are pricey... DD is long and skinny and I'm tallish but average build, and DH is over 6ft - anyone out there think this sounds OK for an ergo or similar?!

Finally - this is a bit of a weird question, but what do your LOs wear on their feet when in a sling? I don't have any coats/long cardis that button over DD when she's on my front, and she doesn't have shoes yet as she doesn't walk (though she loves standing up if I hold her hands). For some reason it strikes me as a bit weird to buy her shoes at this age, but otherwise, if in tights/socks her feet seem awfully exposed to the elements, especially as it's getting so coooold now.

Thank you very much for any advice!

Those little leather crawler shoes (one popular brand is Daisy Roots) should work. Otherwise try something like this. I made something similar and it keeps us warm, it's useful as you can take it off without disturbing them if they fall asleep in you go indoors.

Some sling libraries do postal loans - I know South London Sling Library do, for instance.

I fasten the bottom of my coat below the sling which keeps baby's legs under it. So even though I can't fasten my coat over my baby in the sling as coat isn't big enough, it still comes around the edges to keep her legs and arms warm....does that make sense?

Yes perfect sense, thank you! And that cover is very sweet, had no idea such things existed. Much appreciated!
