Hi my baby is due in may and i'd really like to try and carry them in a sling/wrap, i'm hoping this may also help with BF on the move. We have to go to Greece for a wedding in Aug so would like something stylish and practical for both the airports and the wedding.

What would mumsnetters recommend. At the moment the moby looks good or should I go for a maitai. Does anyone have experience of a Baby Hawk they look great?

I'm only 5'2 and have a very short body with big hips and boobs.

Thanks

I have found a stretchy wrap like the Moby ( I have a baby bundler) great for small babies. It is so comfortable, looks stylish and once you have the hang of it isn't too difficult to put on. It is also easy to adjust around your body shape and your partner could wear it too. The stretchy wraps are also great for breastfeeding.

Having said that if the wedding is in Greece you might want to look at the Calin Bleu sling as that is a fine gauze so cooler for your baby.

The moby will be too hot to use in Greece in august. Thats a lot of material wrapped around you. I recommended someone Sakura Bloom ring slings for a wedding recently, they are beautiful! slumber-roo.co.uk/brand/16/sakura-bloom

Agree with PPs that the Moby will be far too hot in Greece in August. (I found it too warm for the UK in May/June and can't even bear to think about using it in hotter temps...)

I second the suggestions already made by knitty and greenbeanie.

The Sakura Bloom slings are absolutely beautiful but can be quite costly, especially for the silk ones. If you just wanted something special for the wedding and have money to spend then I'd go for this.

However, if you're on a budget or want to carry your baby a lot before and after the wedding then I'd choose the Calin Bleu gauze - it's lovely and cool, spreads the weight evenly across the body (the Sakura Blooms are 1 shoulder ring-slings) and I've managed to breastfeed in it before as someone close to your height and build.

There's a Yahoo group where you can buy, sell and swap baby carriers. I've had some good bargains from there.
