Can someone explain the "frogleg" positioning please?

I thought the "frog-leg positioning" looks painful for babies hips?

obviously not because of the mei tai's etc. as recently posted i am tied between a few carriers, which do the froggy legs..

how is this better rather than baby bjorn say?
