I am 5"1

I weigh 19 stone

My BMI is 50

How the hell did I get to this?

I need to loose 10 stone.

Jesus

tabulahrasa Mon 24-Feb-14 23:12:51

You just don't think about the big number you have to lose and concentrate on going down a bit every week...as long as you keep going in the right direction you'll get there eventually. Make smaller goals, you get a sticker every half stone, aim for them.

iklboo Mon 24-Feb-14 23:23:11

Agree - make small goals. They come round quickly & aren't so daunting. You don't HAVE to lose 10 stone. Set a realistic 'first target' weight & go from there.

DreamToSleep Wed 26-Feb-14 18:49:10

I will be your buddy if you like?

BMI 35..similar height to you and 13 stone 2.
My aim is 8 or 9 stone.

I'm taking it one step at a time..and you should be really proud for joining..I don't mean that patronisingly. .its bloody hard. Just think of every meal you replace with a healthy option as a step..that's how I get around it. For breakfast I used to have a can of coke and crisps <cringe>..now I have fruit and cereal or toast and an apple after..and I think well look at what I could have had..and nd how much better it is for my body not to be eating that rubbish.

Just set mini goals, it's a big lifestyle change and I found it hard on my first week last week.

LittleDragon Wed 26-Feb-14 19:19:01

I'll be your buddy if you want, am similar height and weight to you!

jinglebellsarecoming Wed 26-Feb-14 19:43:07

I'm in too. Same amount of weight to loose and first SW class tommorow. Eek. It's the breakfast I really am dreading changing - I love my diet coke, toast, pain au chocolate and sometime snikers! Written down it's appalling.

heronsfly Wed 26-Feb-14 19:48:55

Can I join too, I went to my first class today, and really enjoyed it.
Im 12 stone 9 and only 5ft, my first target was set at 11st 10oz.
I have been really good today (not even twelve hours yet grin)
I have only eaten free foods and a 'cake in a cup' for a syn, but Ive already got a headache, think its going to be a long first week .

LittleDragon Wed 26-Feb-14 23:22:23

heronsfly your syns are there to be used! SW actually advise you use between 5 and 15 per day! Many people at the class I go to actually say they lost less when they didn't eat enough syns when I asked if I have to use them.

heronsfly Wed 26-Feb-14 23:54:12

Thank you dragon, I really need to sit and read the books properly, I think I am just eating free foods without giving it much thought.

IglooisnowinSheffield Thu 27-Feb-14 00:07:55

Can I join please? I am going to my first class tomorrow night!

I'm 5'7, 15s 4lb. I've had three babies in quick succession and now need to get fit again. I've batched a freezer full of meals from various sw recipe books to make life easy. Hoping to use my sins to have a crunchie at night with a cup of tea smile

LittleDragon Thu 27-Feb-14 00:27:39

Reading and understanding the books is key. I've been on SW in the past and have then become complacent and therefore put weight back on.
My breakfasts tend to be fruit and mullerlight with either coffee or diet coke. Lunch tends to be a mugshot, fruit and a freddo (5syns) and either a coffee or diet coke/sprite zero/7 up zero. Dinner tends to be meat and veg cooked in my microwave pressure cooker. Milk for coffees is measured out healthy extra A but I struggle for healthy extra B as I'm yeast, wheat and gluten intolerant and I can't stand the texture of cereal bars (including the hifi bars)

isisisis Thu 27-Feb-14 08:58:45

Can I join? I joined SW last week, first weigh in tomorrow. I want to lose 4stone following pregnancy post natal cake
Is everyone doing extra easy? When's weigh day for everyone?

heronsfly Thu 27-Feb-14 12:49:05

Ive started on extra easy but might change once I have really worked it all out, my weigh in day is Wednesday grin

spaceal Thu 27-Feb-14 18:37:19

Hi. I've just had my third weigh in (Wednesday) - I put a pound on last week but lost 1.5lb in my first week and 7 in my second so overall very good but very inconsistent! And I'm not sure why, my diet has been pretty much the same each week.

I don't often eat my syns and wonder if I should eat more.

I need ideas for savoury snacks - I get bored of always snacking on fruit and/or yogurt.

I'm currently 14 st 10 (BMI 33) and my ultimate aim is close to 11st but I'll be very happy if/when I get to 13st

Fairy1303 Thu 27-Feb-14 18:45:19

Well I'm back on the slimming world block again - this time for good!

OP, I need to lose 5 stone.

One step at a time!

LittleDragon Thu 27-Feb-14 23:32:19

I lost 2.5lb this week!
I tend to mix and match the plans depending what I'm doing each day!
Am packing to go away for the weekend atm, it's my birthday tomorrow and me and DP are going away for a weekend in a spa hotel. Will post some savoury snack ideas when I get chance though

Can I join too please? I'll be joining my local class on Monday, my first time at SW so I have no idea what it's all about! I did WW before ProPoints, but lost track when it changed so I fell off the wagon and put on 1.5 of the 2 stone I'd lost hmm

Hoping to lose 3 stone on SW smile just hope it's easier to follow than WW!

isisisis Fri 28-Feb-14 00:11:19

Well done littledragon, & Happy Birthday!

heronsfly Fri 28-Feb-14 13:28:29

Happy Birthday little dragon, hope you have a good weekend grin
I have tried WW too edsotherwoman and was unsuccessful really, I lost weight really quickly but craved food and soon put it all back on again .
I think SW is going to suit me better because there are loads of free foods that you can eat all day long and I am doing just that its early days for me though and I still need to read the books properly.

isisisis Fri 28-Feb-14 14:14:56

Week 1 weigh in = -6lb!! Whoop whoop. I want to lose another 2lb this week to take me down into the next stone. We had the pulled pork for dinner last night, I did it in the slow cooker, it was amazing. I had it with homemade coleslaw & wedges, I really recommend it.

sublimecorpse Fri 28-Feb-14 14:24:09

Just come back to check this thread - wasn't expecting so many replies!

Good luck to everyone just starting and well done to everyone who has had losses this week! thanks

So I started on Tuesday, Monday being joining day and I think I've done pretty well so far. Eaten lots of free foods and not gone beyond 10 syns a day at all so I'm hopeful for a loss this week.

Has anyone discovered a new food or recipe which is low in syns? What is everyone snacking on?

I have just discovered syn free crisps grin I'm so happy - crisps are my downfall and knowing I can make some that are syn free will help keep me on track.

isisisis Fri 28-Feb-14 15:22:48

Syn free crisps? This is something I need to know about! How do you make them?

spaceal Fri 28-Feb-14 16:17:53

isis the pulled pork sounds amazing - where's the recipe?

I've been doing quite a lot of SW chips and coleslaw. Did a big shop today and stocked up on FF yogurt, fromage frais etc plus tonnes of fruit.

Does anyone use quark and got any good recipes?

spaceal Fri 28-Feb-14 16:19:03

Oh, and congrats isis on the 6lb loss!

isisisis Fri 28-Feb-14 16:52:43

BBQ pulled pork

1.5-2kg pork shoulder, all fat removed
5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard powder
500g passata
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
3 tbsp sweetener
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Tip: Chef's tip: Serve with homemade coleslaw, Slimming World-style sweet potato chips in 60g wholemeal rolls.
Method

In a small bowl, mix passata, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweetener and seasoning. Transfer to a small pan and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
Meanwhile, trim and remove all visible fat from the pork and sear all sides in a hot frying pan sprayed with low calorie cooking spray. Transfer to a roasting tin lined with aluminium foil and pour the sauce over the pork making sure all the meat is covered. Cover with the foil and bake on 160°C/140°C Fan for 4-5 hours.
Remove the pork from the oven and place on a cutting board. Allow the meat to cool for approximately 15 minutes, then shred into bite-sized pieces using two forks.

sublimecorpse Fri 28-Feb-14 17:06:07

Syn free crisps:

Spray a dinner plate with fry light.

Peel a potato. Cut it in half.

Shave slices of with a potato peeler.

Lay them on the plate in a single layer.

Spay potatoes with fry light.

Microwave for 3-5 minutes, until they start getting a little brown in the middle.

Take them off the plate and put them on kitchen towel to cool.

Sprinkle with salt or whatever else takes your fancy!

Fairy1303 Fri 28-Feb-14 17:15:51

Careful with slimming world crisps - they are syn free as they count as a 'tweak' - ie they don't fill you up so you are more likely to overeat them. They are synned so go careful! You will have to syn them as if you were doing a red day for the syn value.

Sorry to be a party pooper!

Fairy1303 Fri 28-Feb-14 17:17:10

Meant to say they ARENT syn free!

tabulahrasa Fri 28-Feb-14 19:12:08

If you make a nice big portion of salsa they're free.

Dips are pretty good overall, salsa and houmous without oil (or tahini obviously) are free and you can make a creamy one with quark or zero fat fromage frais and garlic - I usually have them with wedges rather than crisps tbh, but as long as a third of it is superfree it's all free and of course you could always have veggie sticks as well.

Walkers hoops and crosses are 4 syns and ringoes 3 (I think, double check) definitely lower than things like snack a jacks. Sainsbury's do flavoured popcorn that's I think 2 1/2 syns...the salt and vinegar's a bit odd, but the paprika one's nice.

There's a free pakora recipe on the website that's ok and a free raita would be pretty easy to make as it's basically cucumber mint and yoghurt.

I made tortilla crisps once from the wraps that are a B choice, cut them up, sprayed a bit of frylight on and then put on spices and stuck them in the oven...they were ok, but I prefer wedges tbh.

That's all the snacky things I can think of off the top of my head - it's sweet stuff I struggle with more, lol.

Though there is 1/2 syn brownies (I use 30g of sweetener and they're fine).

Only1scoop Fri 28-Feb-14 19:19:01

Hello all can I hop on board....joined last week. 3lb off first week one lady lost 9lbs!
I've bought 100 extra easy days book for a little inspiration seems quite good.
The recipes on here look delishsmile

Good luck Op

Blueuggboots Fri 28-Feb-14 19:22:04

For savoury snacks, what about hard boiled eggs, ham spread with mustard made with mustard powder not ready made (syns in ready made mustard!), gherkins, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and celery sticks?

sublimecorpse Sat 01-Mar-14 14:30:03

Blueuggboots - good idea, sounds lovely.

I made the sw bean chilli bowl which was so tasty and will make the super free soup tomorrow too I think.

I've not been well the last few days so have been snacking on mug shots which aren't too bad actually.

Has anyone made the curry loaf? Can't wait to try that, but can't find chick pea Dahl in a tin at my local Tesco, might have to try Sainsburys.

Wow, everyone's doing really well, well done!
Looking forward to starting tomorrow, it's looking suitable so far!

isisisis Sun 02-Mar-14 12:51:25

I've seen chick pea Dahl in asda.

Fairy1303 Sun 02-Mar-14 13:10:39

Sainsburys chick pea Dahl has syns in it - secretly quite high! Asda is free I think - the loaf is delicious! Definitely worth a go!

MrsTowMater Sun 02-Mar-14 14:14:50

Just wanted to say well done for starting, all of you! Don't want to sound patronising but I know how hard it is to actually start and not keep saying 'I'll start tomorrow' or 'I'll start next week' etc. I went for 10 years saying that and just got bigger and bigger.

Anyway, I joined SW 12 weeks ago. I started at 16 st 8lbs wanting to lose 6 stone. I now weigh 14 stone 3. Already I feel so, so much better. I lost the first stone in 4 weeks. I find the certificates and stickers actually really do motivate me (not sure if that's just admitting I am childlike! haha) but I love feeling like I've earned it, particularly in the early days when you don't see the physical changes straight away. I had lost a stone but to look in the mirror I looked exactly the same. It wasn't until I lost about 21lbs when my clothes felt lose and I really saw bits of my body shrinking.

I found it really daunting in the beginning to think I had 6 stone to lose. It felt like such a huge task. But even now just 3 months later, already I can say I have '3 and half stone to lose' which just seems so much more doable. I agree with those who have said break it up into more manageable portions. I tend to think in half stones just because it's when you get the stickers and certificates. Also when you really get into it, they do come around very very quickly. Last week I lost 3lbs, this week I lost 3 lbs, another pound and that's half a stone gone in 3 weeks. It really can happen quickly but safely. However, don't get disheartened if it happens slower. There are weeks when I stay on plan perfectly yet I maintain my weight. Those are the weeks when you have to dig really deep and STAY on track. You will see results eventually. Equally there are those people in my group who consistently lose just a pound a week which doesn't sound much but over the course of a year that's 4 stone. Definitely worth losing!

You can all do this. The only way you won't see results is if you give up. If you really want it then you can make it happen. good luck xxx

JakeBullet Sun 02-Mar-14 14:24:31

I am trying and failing to get the chick pea dahl....bloody nightmare.

I am loving SW. ....joined on 7th January and have lost 1st 10lbs since, Got my Club 10 award now too smile .

I am 4lbs off of a 2 stone loss which seems amazing.

I was 17st 3lbs.....and was mortified by that.

I have got DS on it too....he doesn't know as it is just healthy eating as far as he is concerned, done lots of swaps and it is really paying off for us both.smile

Only1scoop Sun 02-Mar-14 14:46:21

Wow! I'm feeling more inspired after reading last couple of posts.
Have had an awful weekend of syn but desperate to get back on track.

heronsfly Sun 02-Mar-14 19:10:56

I really failed yesterday, ate 3 slices of pizza at a colleague's leaving do.
I knew i shouldn't, and wasn't even hungry just 'did it' blush.back on track today though.

sublimecorpse Sun 02-Mar-14 19:21:47

Wow MrsTowMater! Well done! Hopefully I'll be able to say the same as you 3 months down the line!

I've gone over my syns by .5 today due to a fairy cake forced on me by my little nephew blush it was home made and he helped his mum make them - He's only 20 months old so I couldn't say no!

But I've not gone over 10 syns a day at all over the last week so I'm thinking it won't make that much of a difference.

When do we all weigh in? I go on a Monday so this time tomorrow I'll know how I've done. I'm hoping for 3lbs off - so fingers crossed.

I've been really surprised at how easy it is. I've not felt hungry and I'm so glad I don't have the faff of working out points like I did with ww.

LittleDragon Sun 02-Mar-14 22:33:34

I've been away for the weekend so used flexisyns and allowed myself 30 syns per day, and kept my target realistic. In allowing myself the extra syns, I feel I've stayed in control and can get straight back on track. I've also had a really amazing birthday weekend and now have a good way of treating myself when I hit my mini targets (I'm not even thinking about my main target yet cos it seems so far away). Each mini-target hit is going to earn me a deluxe treatment at the spa where I've just spent the weekend!

sublimecorpse Mon 03-Mar-14 20:12:34

Just back from weigh in

6lbs down! grin

Only1scoop Mon 03-Mar-14 20:13:05

sublimecorpse Mon 03-Mar-14 21:33:00

I'm really pleased with myself. I'm aiming for 1lb off next week to get to my first mini goal of 7lbs

MrsTowMater Mon 03-Mar-14 21:43:08

Well done!!! Stick with it, you're unstoppable now! x

PhoebeMcPeePee Tue 04-Mar-14 10:31:52

I've just started SW & have 4 stone to lose so would like to join you if that's ok. I'm just reading up in everything & trying to meal plan for the week but already liking the big selection of free foods as I've done WW in the past & found tracking everything a real PITA!

Breakfast was mushroom omelette, tuna lunch salad & dinner prawn stir-fry.

sublimecorpse Tue 04-Mar-14 10:44:59

Welcome Phoebe smile

I'm just starting my second week and I'm much preferring sw to ww!

Your meal plan for today sounds great. Good luck!

Only1scoop Tue 04-Mar-14 11:59:10

I'm at the weigh bridge later....dreading it hmm

JakeBullet Tue 04-Mar-14 15:04:26

Being weighed later.

Finally been able to track down chick pea Dahl in Asda.

Full of that curried loaf now. Hope it doesn't weigh too much grin

Only1scoop Tue 04-Mar-14 16:10:02

Just been blush

2.5 off in my second week....although did have to virtually starve yesterday as synful weekend.

Only1scoop Tue 04-Mar-14 16:10:21

Good luck Jake

heronsfly Tue 04-Mar-14 18:15:52

You have all done so well grin
Ive got weigh in tomorrow, I had a bad day on saturday and synned badly, but have stuck with it the rest of the week so fingers crossed, not hoping for wonders but will be pleased with any loss.
I am finding it much easier than ww too.

JakeBullet Tue 04-Mar-14 18:37:16

grin

1.5lb off.

Another 2.5lbs and it will be 2 stones.

DreamToSleep Tue 04-Mar-14 20:38:49

Managed to lose another 4lb this week which makes 8.5 in total been doing it 2 weeks. Trying to fit in 'body magic' been borrowing next doors dogs to go on walks with.

You are all doing so well, glad this thread was started. I have quite a bit to lose so bit daunting.

Babydol10 Tue 04-Mar-14 20:50:42

Hi fellow slimmin worlders, ive been reading lots of posts on older threads and finally decided to join mn and( if u all dont mind) join u.
My story so far is... Allways a chubby kid and teenager until i become a young mum. A mix of bad relationships, tight budgets and too much partyin meant i lost lots of weight and finally become a size 8-10. Due to fear of being big again and a v poor diet i stayed that size for about 8 years. I then met my dh had a serious knee injury and piled on 5 stone(5ft 2 size 18-20) i lost 1 stn my self, joined sw and lost another 1 1/2 but that has gone off and on for over a year now. Ive finally got my head around the fact that i need to loose 4 stn and then keep it off, i need to be halthy not just slim. Work commitments make attending a group impossible so ive orfered the books online and am goin it solo. I started on the 1st feb and have lost 11lb so far. Ive set myself a target of 3stn by august and final stone by dec...omg soz about the essay.

Only1scoop Tue 04-Mar-14 20:53:59

Well done jake and dream smile

Only1scoop Tue 04-Mar-14 20:54:16

Hello Baby smile

Babydol10 Tue 04-Mar-14 22:32:01

Hi Only1, ive noticed that some of u are postin recipie ideas (i'll def b givin the pork one a go) so thought i would let you all kno what ive eaten today, any feedback would b welcome:
B- ham and beetroot sarnie (eaten at my desk) HEB and fruit
L- sw veggie and cheese quiche and rocket HEA
D- pork loin (no fat) sweet pot wedges and salad

S- fruit and mini ryvitta (5)
D- water, black coffee, black tea

I WI on fri mornings and like a drink so usually use 40 of my syns over the wkend on alcohol, the other 30 are split between the other 5 days, i do ee mixed with 1 or 2 reds so find it easy to go weekdays with minimal syns.

sublimecorpse Tue 04-Mar-14 22:38:49

Welcome to those new on the thread and well done to those who have had great losses this week!

I've been on track today - used 8.5 syns so not too bad. Haven't been well so haven't bothered to actually cook which is a shame.

I've been getting a lot of inspiration and ideas from Instagram - if anyone wants to follow me pm me and I'll add you.

Keep up the good work ladies! thanks

heronsfly Wed 05-Mar-14 10:27:18

Second weigh in today and I've lost 2ibs really pleased considering I have really syned more than once grin

sublimecorpse Wed 05-Mar-14 11:35:10

Well done Herons! thanks

Babydol10 Wed 05-Mar-14 17:01:34

Hi all, hope everyone is having a good day, loobylou well done, can i ask how many weeks in are you, after my first month my loses seem to go down to 1-2lb per week, still loses i kno but it would b great if some weeks i could shift an extra pound like you, do you do all ee or alternate them with r&g days too. Well today's meals are:
B- 2 boiled eggs ( early start today and eaten at desk again) fruit
L- left over pork and salad from yesterday
D- sw spag bol with cheese on top HEA and lots of veg

S- mini ryvittas HEB, muller yoghurt (.5)

Babydol10 Wed 05-Mar-14 17:09:13

Soz pasted my post to wrong thread,so my question bout the weight loss isnt relevant to anyone...its been a long day, but if anyone has suggestions that would b good too.

pinktransit Wed 05-Mar-14 17:29:28

SW mushy pea curry is gorgeous!!
It sounds utterly, utterly vile, and it's only because so many people in my group raved about it that I even tried it. Even my dd2 loves it, and she's not a curry fan smile

1 large onion, sliced
mushrooms (not essential but I like them)
1 can mushy pea
1 can baked beans
1 can chopped tomatoes
Curry powder to taste.

Soften the onion and mushrooms in fry light with 1 tblsp of curry powder.
Add contents of tins, stir, and cook for around 20 mins or so on a medium heat.

You can also add chicken/other meat/pretty much anything else if you like.

It doesn't taste of peas at all!!

Quick, cheap and easy. I serve with Sainsburys 2 min basmati rice, as that's only 1/2 syn for a pack.

sublimecorpse Wed 05-Mar-14 19:24:06

Baby, try this:

Red lentil and butternut squash curry - 1syn

Ingredients

Low calorie cooking spray
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
1 medium butternut squash peeled, deseeded and chopped
2 tbsp medium curry paste
1 x 200g can chopped tomatoes, drained but retaining the liquid
Vegetable stock
100g dried red lentils
Baby spinach
To serve
heaps of boiled rice
fat-free natural yogurt (optional)
Tip: If you prefer a less spicy curry, you can either reduce the curry paste slightly or serve it with extra very low fat natural yogurt.
Method

Heat the oven to 170°C/150°C Fan/Gas 3. Spray a heavy, ovenproof pan with low calorie cooking spray and cook the onion with the lid on for 5 minutes until softened. Add the butternut squash, tossing with the onion then cook for a few minutes again with the lid on. Stir in the curry paste and tomatoes.
Add the vegetable stock to the retained tomato liquid, until the tomato and stock mixture is up to 600ml. Add to the pan along with the lentils. Stir well and bring to the boil, then remove from the heat and place in the oven for 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of your butternut squash chunks.
The curry is cooked when the sauce has thickened and the lentils are tender but still whole and a knife slides into the butternut squash easily.
Remove from the oven and stir in a handful spinach. Replace the lid and leave to stand for a few minutes until the spinach wilts. Serve with the rice and a swirl of yogurt.

sublimecorpse Wed 05-Mar-14 19:26:34

Meant to add - I use Pataks korma or tikka masala paste and you can add in some chicken or quorn chicken style pieces too. I also add frozen peas smile

JakeBullet Thu 06-Mar-14 07:33:07

I lost 1.5lbs this week so it's now a total of 1 stone 11.5lbs grin . Happy happy happysmile .

Mushy pea curry sounds vile but based on all the raving you folks are doing I am going to give it a go.smile

How many Syns are the curry pastes?

PhoebeMcPeePee Thu 06-Mar-14 11:55:54

Well done on the losses grin . I tried the beef & baked beans hotpot featured on the SW website which was lovely & worth a try as portions were decent & my whole family enjoyed it. BUT 1.5hrs cooking stewing steak is nowhere near enough - it needs at least another hour preferably more to tenderise so we ended up eating really late!

In future I'll cook it for an hour without potato then a further 2 hours with potato.

sublimecorpse Thu 06-Mar-14 17:32:53

Jake - the tikka masala paste that I used is 1 syn per tbsp

LittleDragon Thu 06-Mar-14 22:27:10

Not a good week this week, came back from my weekend away ready to undo some the damage I'd done but my grandad got rush into his local a&e monday morning and I've not been able to concentrate on being on plan cos of the worry. I put 4lb on and am back into the next stone bracket!

Babydol10 Thu 06-Mar-14 22:36:07

Thanks for the curry ideas will gve them a try, wi tomoz so wish me luck. Always feel nervous even if ive been good. Had the toughest day so far today but stayed positive, accepted it was a bad one and ate fruit. Im treatin myself to vodka and something sweet tomoz. Well done to all the loses and if i dont get on here over the wkend wishin u all a sw friendly weekend.

Babydol10 Thu 06-Mar-14 22:39:57

Soz lildragon think our posts crossed, dont beat urself up about it sometimes things get in the way. Just write it off and ull soon b back on track u cant do anythin now apart from repair the damage..... Onwards and upwards. Hope ur grandad is feeling better amd chin up its nearly the weekend.

Babydol10 Thu 06-Mar-14 22:41:52

Or shold i say offwards and downwards, weight that is.

isisisis Fri 07-Mar-14 11:34:05

Sorry to hear about your grandad littledragon. Hope he's getting better.
Just back from weigh in, week 2 3lb off, 9lb total & (joint) slimmer of the week. So chuffed with that. I went out to eat several times so really wasn't expecting it, think it may of been carrying DD 6months around constantly as she's had a cold all week & won't be put down.
One of the meals was with my antenatal group, they're all proper skinny minis with no baby fat at all (if they weren't so nice I'd hate them!). My plan was to see what they were eating & copy but they all went for pizza so that didn't work out!
Everyone's doing so well & hearing from you all is keeping me on track - thank you flowers

Babydol10 Fri 07-Mar-14 20:46:31

Hi all, well done isis, well i weighed in and despite having a good week i didnt hit my target of 1st stone, lost 2lb so im 1 away ( which for sumone with OCD is v annoying)
Still feelin poitive thou, mum got rushed into hosp lastnite wiv suspected heart attack so tryin day today. Knew i would have lots of runnin around to do today but even with three trips to hosp i managed to stik to plan. This earlyi in i just cant accept a gain so went out armed with mini ryvittas and loadsa fruit, have cracked open the vodka now thou so hopefully i wont balls it up too much, days food is:
B- fruit
L- rice stuffed mush with cheese and beetroot HEA
D- sw wedges cooked by lovely niece

S- mini ryvittas HEB

Not too great on the 1/3 super3 but all good under the circumstances, lildragon wii kno how i feel after ur recent stresses.

JakeBullet Sat 08-Mar-14 06:55:36

Oh my goodness babydol, hope your Mum is okay.

I think going off plan in those circumstances is entirely understandable,

JakeBullet Sat 08-Mar-14 06:56:23

You did amazingly well to have been prepared like that with your food.

isisisis Sat 08-Mar-14 08:55:52

Oh babydoll hope your mums doing well x

isisisis Sat 08-Mar-14 11:00:41

Is anyone else doing 'treats'? I thought I'd have a little ( non food treat) for every 7lb lost. I've got a ridiculous amount of boots points so am going to use them. I've just started a thread in style & beauty never normally venture there for some suggestions.

Babydol10 Sat 08-Mar-14 17:16:47

I kno jake, i surprised myself, the idea of a healthy eatin style must b kickin in.
Thanks Isis we r still not really sure what is happenin yet but she seems alot better today.
I get my nails and eyelashes done once a month anyway so not sure if i could get away with the pressie thin but i think its a great idea.
I did have quite alot of vodka last night after all the stress so will have to work out how many syns later and split the remainder of my week's 70 over the rest of the week. Just to let u all know that a certain well known supermarket ( the green one with four letters in name) are doin 10 ml yogs for £3 atm. Goin bak up hosp soon so will have dinner when back, today so far is:
B-yoghurt fruit ( no time)
L-98 % ff supa noodles with boiled egg, gherkins and beetroot.
D- will b.... Steak, cheese&onion stuffed potato skins HEA, salad&green beans

S-mini ryvittas HEB, fruit

PhoebeMcPeePee Sat 08-Mar-14 18:14:37

I am isis every 7 lbs & my 10% mark. On my list are : decent hair cut, eye-brown thread, . My hitting goal reward will be teeth whitening (ex smoker & red wine drinker wink) that I'm already saving for plus I have a £250 Fenwicks voucher that expires Dec '14 that I'm determine to use on the newer slimmer me grin

isisisis Sat 08-Mar-14 18:41:48

Wow, you can really go to town with your £250 voucher! That'll be amazing. Do Fenwicks do a free personal shopper? My Mums used a free Debenhams one before & said they were great, no hard sell but lots of suggestions of things you might not of considered before.
I'm off into town next week &, thanks to the style & beauty board, am going to check out a Dior lipbalm as my first treat.
Superdrug had a half price threading offer on last week, got my eyebrows done for £5 & the girl was really good.
Give me a shout if you want any advice about bleaching when you get to goal (I'm a dentist).

sublimecorpse Mon 10-Mar-14 16:18:33

Hello all! Weigh in day for me - slight nervous but not sure why, have been on plan all week and not gone over my daily syns at all. In theory I should have lost some weight, but we'll see.

sublimecorpse Mon 10-Mar-14 16:19:49

Babydoll, hope your Mum is doing well, and littledragon hope your grandad is too thanks

PhoebeMcPeePee Mon 10-Mar-14 21:13:48

First weigh in tonight & 2lbs off grin. Having a Chinese as a treat but been careful with my choices & only 10 syns.

Babydol10 Mon 10-Mar-14 22:49:44

Thanks sublimecorpse she came home tonight more tests needed but lots betta, im bullying her into joining me on my sw journey so we mite have a new member on the thread soon. I allways feel nervous too at wi even if ive been good, let us kno how u get on. Well done phoebee on ur loss, i allways find chinese the easiest takeaway to have and stay within syns...enjoy.

LittleDragon Mon 10-Mar-14 23:19:27

Grandad got out of hospital on thursday but was rushed back in last night with suspected pneumonia. It's a case of when rather than if he goes from what I can work out, especially since he has a DNR in place

sublimecorpse Tue 11-Mar-14 16:48:30

Well done Phoebe!

Baby so glad your mum is doing better smile

Little so sorry to hear your grandad is unwell again, it must be so difficult for you sad Thinking of you and yours, will send up a little prayer that he pulls through.

Went to weigh in last night and lost 2lb so that's 8lb in two weeks. I'm happy with that, just hope I can keep going.

Making syn free lentil shepherds pie for tea - looks good, hope it tastes good!

JakeBullet Tue 11-Mar-14 18:23:02

Lost 3.5lbs this week.....now up to 2 stone 1.5lbs off grin

Babydol10 Tue 11-Mar-14 19:08:33

Babydol10 Tue 11-Mar-14 22:25:01

Im thinking bout doing a few days of success express next week, has anyone done it and if so how did u find it. Think ive got my head around it afta readin my book about a million times.

DreamToSleep Wed 12-Mar-14 19:28:30

Well done everyone!
Week 3 and another 3 lb off so 11 lb in total. Started swimming 3 times a week and enjoying it even though I'm not very good.

Babydol10 Thu 13-Mar-14 21:45:26

Any tips for success express im a bit worried im goin to b starvin.

Babydol10 Fri 14-Mar-14 19:27:06

Lost a pound hit a stone, bring on se week.

LittleDragon Fri 14-Mar-14 20:12:39

I put another 1.5lb on but that's a lot better than I was expecting tbh. I also am struggling now to do much body magic as had a fall on tuesday and now have to walk with a stick to help me stay balanced if my leg goes again!
I'm filling in SAS logs this week which are very much like a more detailed version of the food diary.

Babydol10 Sat 15-Mar-14 09:44:10

I defo need get back to food diaries might make an excel ss tonight with losses and diary fo each week, can look back at it then if i start to loose motivation....i do live an excitin life, wishin you a speedy recovery little.

isisisis Mon 17-Mar-14 07:12:59

Oh littledragon sorry you're having a rotten time. Obviously don't know anything about your situation, but there are specific strengthening exercises to help prevent further falls (DH is a physio). If it's an ongoing situation might be worth asking for a referral if you haven't been seen already.
I've had a rotten week, but it was my birthday so I'm using that as an excuse! Back on track as of now, in fact going for my first run in 18months once DD finished feeding.

isisisis Mon 17-Mar-14 07:16:01

babydoll love your dedication with the spread sheet! I got a lovely notebook for my birthday I'm going to use. (Love a nice bit of stationary)

PhoebeMcPeePee Mon 17-Mar-14 21:50:22

4lbs off this week so 6lbs in two weeks which I'm really pleased about (& slightly surprised given I ate out twice last week)

LittleDragon Mon 17-Mar-14 23:18:14

isis - I had physio and it made it worse on its own when I tried, however for the past 18 months DP has been doing massage and giving me very similar exercises to try and that's working a lot better, he just hasn't been able to come and see me for over a week due to work. I went to see a GP (not the usual one I see) at my practice but he's saying he's going to have to go right through all my old notes to find out if that's the best option (I already know there are very few, if any other options left, I've had the back problems for 11 years and been through everything my former GPs practice could suggest and they were used to dealing with pat and present army and airforce).

LittleDragon Mon 17-Mar-14 23:21:57

I'm just doing whatever I can with food atm, and given that I don't want to cook meals really by the time I can get in the kitchen (am in a shared facilities situation so it's after 7:30 most nights before I can get in the kitchen)that's not a great amount

isisisis Tue 18-Mar-14 06:16:28

Oh littledragon that sounds so tough. You're doing brilliantly to even be thinking about losing weight. Do you like things like the bachelors pasta & sauce packets? They're quick, easy & a lot of them are free. Think someone at group said they're fine made with water if you've used your milk up.
I went for my first run yesterday, I'm doing couch to 5km so only 8 mins actual running, but that's 8 mins more than the day before.

sublimecorpse Tue 18-Mar-14 17:28:55

Another 2lb gone this week, a total of 10lb in 3 weeks smile

My BMI has gone from 50 to 47.5

LittleDragon Tue 18-Mar-14 18:07:24

I have them occasionally and just mix it up with other stuff.

Looks like it's gonna be Saturday before I can see DP due to his work. Much as it's nice to have a DP that works (ExH couldn't be bothered to look never mind go if he ever got a job) it gets to me that I can't ever plan a set day to do stuff with him cos we never know if he's gonna get the day off.

positively9something Thu 27-Mar-14 16:22:44

Hi all can I going in?

I am going to my first ever slimming world meeting and I hope i will be successful! I have around 1.5 stone to loose! Any tips atall?

positively9something Thu 27-Mar-14 16:34:08

I meant can I join in grin

PhoebeMcPeePee Tue 01-Apr-14 20:53:22

How's everyone doing? Lost 3.5lbs this week grin taking me to 10bls since beginning of march PLUS my family are loving some of the meals I'm cooking which I'm so pleased about as I feel it's really something I can continue long term.

positively9something Thu 03-Apr-14 17:03:35

Phoebe well done grin

Well I have done week one, I am going for my second weigh in! I havnt been doing it properly atall hmm and not surprisingly I havnt lost any weight! Also all I feel like doing is stuffing my face with biscuits help!

Darkesteyes Sun 06-Apr-14 17:49:24

Ive been dieting since last August and have only lost just not quite 2 stone Yet ive followed the SW plan stayed WELL below my syns and only had choc at Xmas. Am actually considering taking diet pills Ive tried excsrsising Ive tried not excesrsising. Makes no difference In 8 months ive had 2 takeaways a Dominos on August 4 last year and fish and chips on NYE.

Short of sticking my fingers down my throat i dont see what else i can do. Id take laxatives but i have IBS so it isnt a good idea I am losing about 2 pounds a month going from 16stone 8 to 14 stone 11 Im fucked off and fed up Have refused cake EVERY TIME when its offered to me at my mums. My DH says something isnt right.

In 2002/2003 i lost ten stone going from 21 down to 10 stone 12. A stone a month for seven months and then a year to lose the last 3. I was 29/30 when i did that and now im almost 41. im fucking fed up with this and i FUCKING WELL DESERVE a better loss than what im getting.

muminthecity Sun 06-Apr-14 18:27:08

Hi OP, I've just found this thread and just wanted to say well done, and don't be too daunted by how much you have to lose, just take it one step at a time. I joined SW almost exactly one year ago, with a BMI of 46.5 with a massive 8 stone to lose. It seemed like a huge amount and I didn't really think I could do it.

One year on and I've lost 6 stone and got my BMI down to 34. I still have 2 stone to go but I already look and feel so much better. You can do it!

sublimecorpse Mon 14-Apr-14 22:05:05

Hello all, thought I'd pop back and see how everyone is doing?

Well I've been a sw member for 7 weeks and tonight got my first stone award smile Bit disappointed that I ou lost 1lb last week and 1lb this week but I suppose I'm going in the right direction.

1 stone down, 9 more to go!

I had the Mirena fitted 2 weeks ago, maybe that's why.

Keep going everyone! thanks

PhoebeMcPeePee Mon 14-Apr-14 22:12:35

Hi sublime well done on your first stone that's fantastic grin . I'm 13lbs & 6 weeks in so very similar to you ie still losing but just 1lb this week & I do feel I need to regain focus so am going to start writing everything down this week & do a proper meal plan for the week.

Keep going, as you say it might only be 1lb but it's still a loss wink
