Welcome one and all for our 3rd thread since jan 2013

Blondes is being very bad on holiday smile but once back in uk I shall be back on sw

'Plumps cushions' and hands out healthy sw snacks and wine

HeartOfDixie Sun 19-May-13 21:52:57

Can I join, I joined up last week and am in the process of getting sorted. 7 stone to loose somay be around for a long while! Any tips for making the first few weeks less daunting and easier to get into the routine?

FlatsInDagenham Sun 19-May-13 21:54:25

Hi. I'm new. (Actually I might have posted before on a previous SW thread but I can't remember.)

I lost 2 stone on SW last year but I've been stalling ever since Christmas. Just can't get back into it somehow.

I'm desperate to shift another stone before going on holiday in August. I keep toying with the idea of trying something else - a fresh approach. Calorie counting maybe. But SW worked like a dream last year. I just can't seem to stick to it any more.

Looking for a kick up the backside moral support.

FlatsInDagenham Sun 19-May-13 21:58:57

Hi heartofdixie. Ignore my fatalistic moaning. You'll be great! It does bloody work, and the greatest thing is that I have not put the weight back on that I lost last year.

Slow and steady is the way to go. My advice is to use your syns on a treat at the end of the day - maybe wine or a bar of choc. Don't fritter them away on shite during the day then end up despondant and denying yourself an evening treat.

Fairygen Sun 19-May-13 22:00:07

Still off the wine, 4 weeks exactly. I wish I could say it's helped with dieting, but it really hasn't. I think I've just replaced it with choc biscuits! Must try harder!!

onceipopicantstop Sun 19-May-13 22:10:40

Well done for organising us blondes!
Welcome Heart of Dixie! Only started 10 days ago myself but you'll find it easy to get into the swing of it. Think my main tip would be to plan your meals - I try to plan my main meals for the day either the night before or in the morning before breakfast. That way I know where I am with the healthy extras. Also make sure the fruit bowl is kept well stocked!! Good luck and we'll look forward to hearing how you are getting on! smile

BadRoly Sun 19-May-13 22:25:53

I'm still here in a lurky not posting but reading way...

Gottalovecosta Mon 20-May-13 06:58:11

Can I rejoin? Back on SW after a few months as I've put weight on again blush

Anyway, first week I stayed on track, lost 5lbs. All happy, happy. I don't expect to lose that every week, target is approx 2lbs. Stayed on track this week .... and maintained. confused I seem to recall things being very slow in the beginning last time I did SW - seems so cruel when I'm being so good! Any ideas why? I have 2 stone to lose.
I have started working out as well -can that affect things?

HeartOfDixie Mon 20-May-13 08:43:25

Thanks everyone! Can I ask what people have for breakfast? I've planned lunches, suppers, snacks etc but can't seem to come up with a substantial filling breakfast that I can make and eat at work (office kitchen with a microwave).

IsaacCox Mon 20-May-13 09:30:27

Hi all smile

HeartIfDixie, I have weetabix (HEB) and 350ml skimmed milk (HEA) and a banana most days. If I don't want to use my healthy extras, I'll have eggs of some sort, with onions/toms/jalapeno/peppers etc or with beans and then fruit.

I tried to do the c25k this morning, ouch! My shins were killing me (they still are!) Then I tried to do the 30 day shred but my legs hurt too much sad I'm hoping when I've lost some more weight it'll be easier on my bones to exercise.

IsaacCox Mon 20-May-13 10:08:06

Sorry HeartOfDixie not if.

I'm going to Tesco later, does anyone know if there are any nice free/low syn foods there?

Right, time for me to stop lurking and join in!
I've been doing SW for 9 weeks and have lost 11lb. So hardly failing off me, but nevertheless it is coming off. That included a 5lb gain at Easter blush
I need another 3lb for my stone award, but at this rate that's a few weeks off still.
My main problems are 'special occasions', there seem to be meals out, birthday parties, mothers day etc etc the whole time. And I just can't bring myself to diet at these events.
On a normal day I tend to stick to plan fairly easily, and rarely have the second Hexb that breast feeding allows me to have.
Well done to all others who seem to be doing so well.

Huffpot Mon 20-May-13 18:15:03

flops down on cushions
Marking place

everynameistaken Mon 20-May-13 20:04:37

laughalot Mon 20-May-13 20:11:29

Welcome back blondes grin.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 20-May-13 20:28:01

Laughalot - I'm still on holiday - and worse ice been banned off Fb again for a week for 'sighs' pornagraohic pics ffs

'Hic' pissed on gin and diet coke

Welcome all newbies - when home I will do a proper name check

used2bthin Mon 20-May-13 20:34:40

Hi everyone, I have been on sw for seven weeks and lost a total of 6pounds blush I didn't go last week at all, just can't seem to stick to it the last two weeks, had found it ok till then though.

I think I lost track a bit with events too, every weekend there seems to be something and I think it's counteracting my good work in the week. I am determined to get back with it this week so going to stay to group I think.

3girls1madboy Mon 20-May-13 21:11:54

Wow!! 3rd thread of the year grin
Not posted much, but been reading and lurking. Wi today and lost half a lb, which means 2 and a half stone since jan 4th....grin so chuffed!!!

Glad your having a good time Blondes
Welcome newbies waves

used2bthin Mon 20-May-13 21:29:11

Wow well done! I think sticking to it is the thing but it does come off. Right that's it I will go back to sticking to it properly, I am only prolonging it otherwise.

iklboo Mon 20-May-13 21:30:02

Fred free eh?

Only 0.5 this week. Bit gutted. I've been really good and trained 4 times for Race for Life. Was hoping for more. But a loss is a loss and I'll take that I suppose.

TheDetective Mon 20-May-13 21:42:00

I've found just avoiding all social occasions helps. sad

Bit crap of course, but it means I have stuck to this for over 3 weeks now, and never gone over my daily syns.

I went out today, and was in M&S and I was so close to cracking with all the lovely food. Instead we skipped the cafe, went to the food hall where I nearly caved again and spent the best part of 30 minutes calculating fecking syns in stuff. Looked like a pair of numpties me and the other half, with our phones and packs of food. Ended up with chargrilled chicken dry and horrible and salad which had dressing in a pack, so you could leave it off and have syn free. And some fruit which wasn't ripe, and was minging. And it cost us £18. £18!!!!!!!!

I think we are just going to avoid all eating out from now on. Tis crap!

I've got 10 weeks to get as much off as I can - before DP goes back to work from extended paternity leave. So we need to get the bulk of the weight off now!

I had a mint aero tonight. 11 syns. YUM!

Littlemousewithcloggson Mon 20-May-13 22:18:35

2nd weigh in tomorrow and am sorting out clothes for tomorrow. Not going for what looks nice but what's light. Do you think I've lost the plot a bit?! Has anyone here tried cauliflower crust pizza? Am intrigued and tempted to try it (with a few moderations on the cheese) but don't want to waste half hour if my life if it tastes like loo paper!

Littlemousewithcloggson Mon 20-May-13 22:20:05

Of my life even. Damn Phones!!

TheDetective Mon 20-May-13 22:38:38

No. I shaved my legs. And considered going braless.

Welcome to crazy world.... population: me!

Not tried that, will google! Sounds, interesting?!

At my first WI I nearly caused a riot when I chose not to remove my cardi (I've since learned to conform to group conventions).

cauliflower pizza, not sure how I feel about that!

Right, off to chop fruit for brekkie. Banana & custard muller light over a load of berries is yum, and doesn't use my A or B smile

Huffpot Tue 21-May-13 07:51:42

Well done 3girls! What an achievement

I have been awful this week with emotional eating so have decided not to stress myself and try to get my head back in the right place and get off the gain that I know I will have on Thursday sad

I've not heard of cauliflower pizza but smash pizza can be tolerable but the best is chicken pizza grin

WheresMyCow Tue 21-May-13 08:51:15

Just checking in...hope that you're enjoying the last few days of your holiday Blondes

Will catch up later with all the news...I lost another 1/2 lb this week making 11.5 lbs lost in total, just 2.5 lbs to the 1 stone. I'm doing some success express days this week to try and boost it!

Happy eating grin

Littlemousewithcloggson Tue 21-May-13 11:11:35

Yay, I lost 6lbs which is a stone in 2 weeks. So excited. And I didn't have to resort to going in just underwear either! (although I'm seriously considering the shaving and bra less suggestions for the future!)

laughalot Tue 21-May-13 14:09:51

Well done everyone, blondes bannedfrom fb pmsl !!!! Did you have your boobies out ?

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 21-May-13 18:57:56

No. Was on a nudist beach and took a photo - tho only showed his bare bum and back

Weeks ban ffs. Ends Friday and will add rest of holiday pics

Last day tomorrow of holiday and bad food - will start diet Friday again

'Gulps' sure I've put on at least 1/2 a stone

Curlywurlysareyum Tue 21-May-13 21:44:57

Lost 2 and a half tonight!! So pleased! Feel like my target is within reach!

Thedetective - yes I agree - life outside with sw hard. I find jacket potatoes good if I'm shopping. Or a salad from subway. Boring but better than not going out!!

And yes I get the whole weigh in thing - I always wear the same clothes and even take my watch off!! Whatever u do first week after that doesn't matter. I don't eat dinner as I didn't first week. Now I wish I had. Not willing to gain half a pound and yet how mad is that??! I think we do go a bit crazy. I've a friend who never weighs herself. Just goes by her clothes and cuts down when she feels bigger. I wish I could be more like her.

Curlywurlysareyum Tue 21-May-13 22:02:17

Oh blondes - that's hilarious!!

androbbob Tue 21-May-13 22:15:57

blondes you are sooo naughty! It was a lovely photo too! Did someone complain? Cheeky blighters!

Managed a gain of 1.5lbs on Fri WI (had to go to another group as couldn't do Monday as usual). Then was exceptionally good for the remainder of the weekend, even been at a communion n the Sunday and rolled in with a 2.5lb loss! So now have 2lbs to get my Club 10 and then another 1lb for the 1.5 stone award. Will have to wait for 3rd June as away at Center Parcs next week! Will have to eat wisely and walk loads!

used2bthin Wed 22-May-13 18:54:40

Lost 3and a half pounds in last two weeks! And that's ten pounds altogether so getting there slowly.

Off out for dinner tonight though, hope I can be sensible.

Huffpot Thu 23-May-13 07:30:16

4lbs on at WI for me but fully expected and deserved as I was eating around myself and went out Tuesday and didn't get home till 4am! The toddlers woke me up at 7am and I had my first hangover in 5 years! Still back on it now and bought a 12 week countdown so time to knuckle down!

Well done on the losses - can't name as on phone (as always) and blonde sounds like holiday is going well and the photo sounded nice too wink

IsaacCox Thu 23-May-13 07:36:29

I've lost 2lb this week. Need to get at least 2lb next week for my first mini target of 7lb by the time we go for a weekend away where I'll try not to put it all back on!

Well done everyone on their losses smile

used2bthin Thu 23-May-13 09:57:11

Any recipe recommendations? I use the website but almost have too much choice. Am struggling to feed dh who is a full fat lots of meat type of eater! If he doesn't feel he's had enough meat he ends up going to the shop and binge eating chocolate which is not that nice for me as I sit eating my muller light!

Usedtobe, I cook the 'beef and bean hot pot' and dh really likes it (he is also a full fat meat person!). The recipe is on the website and is really easy and delicious.

Well done on 2lb off Isaac :-)

I lost 3lb this week and that gives me my 1 stone award! Couldn't believe it at WI as I have been plodding along at a pound a week up to now. I'm worried it was an error and i will be +4 next week!

IsaacCox Thu 23-May-13 10:04:43

I love diet coke chicken (you can use diet lemonade/fanta or whatever) with stir fried veg and either noodles, egg fried rice or chips.

Cook chopped chicken breasts and an onion in a pan with fry light. Once browned, cover in diet pop, some passata, Chinese 5 spice and Worcester sauce. Bring to the boil then simmer until the sauce has thickened and reduced. Stir fry some veg and add to the chicken. Serve with rice/noodles or whatever.

I did this last night with diet lemonade. I thought it'd be gross but it was lovely. It was just chicken in the sauce (just lemonade and tinned toms because I didn't have passata in) with chips and boiled mixed veg.

IsaacCox Thu 23-May-13 10:06:02

Thank you jennifer smile Well done to you too. How long did it take you?

used2bthin Thu 23-May-13 12:42:52

HeartOfDixie Thu 23-May-13 13:41:54

Hello! And thank you for the name check Blondes. Can I ask what is a mugshot?

Well first weigh in and lost 1.5 lbs which is good, especially as I haven't fully got my self organised.

But the leader of my group is useless and uninspiring which is a real shame. Sadly no other groups or times suit my schedule so will stick with it!

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 23-May-13 14:14:46

1.5 is a good loss

Mugshot are free smile basically pasta in a cup and I live off them

Tomato or sweet and sour are yummy

Cheese one is think 1 syn but is bland as is the chicken one

iklboo Thu 23-May-13 17:35:32

Thanks for the name check blondes. Good to see you back.

Tonight's tea was herbed mince cous cous. Except we forgot the herbs. Still, it was tasty enough.

Got a wedding on Saturday. Full day job. We'll try to be as good as possible! DH's birthday next week and hols after that so naughty bad times here we come!! grin

iklboo Thu 23-May-13 17:36:26

Dawndonna Thu 23-May-13 18:17:26

Hi. Weighed in on Monday. Got a few stone to lose after giving up smoking a year ago. Am trying hard but have real trouble getting my head round extra easy.

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 23-May-13 18:29:49

ikiboo - wheres your wedding? mines luton - wonder if at same bash - that would be funny grin

isaac it's taken me 10 weeks to lose a stone. That included a big gain at Easter though.
Welcome back off holiday blondes

I've gone rather off plan today so will need to be really good for the rest of the week. Of course it's a bank holiday weekend so I have some meals out to contend with again [sigh]
But for now I'm off to celebrate my loss with a big Aero blush

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 23-May-13 18:55:23

10 weeks is good - 12weeks is 1lb a week so anything less is a bonus as far as i am concerned smile

muminthecity Thu 23-May-13 20:00:40

Hello again Blondes and everyone else. I haven't been around much this week, work has taken over everything, but luckily things are slowing down now!

I had my WI Tuesday and lost another 3.5lbs. That's 22.5lbs in 5 weeks, which I am ecstatic about! Can't wait to get my 2 stone award now grin.

I had to grab lunch on the hop today from Tesco, used the slimming world website on my phone to find the lowest syn option. Ended up having a delicious Moroccan chicken and couscous salad for only 5 syns, a little pack of hoi sin duck sushi for 1.5 syns and a packet of mango. Was surprised I managed to find really filling ready made food for so few syns!

Huffpot Thu 23-May-13 20:03:28

usedtobethin A good meaty recipe that DP (also a carnivore) loves is pizza chicken.
Basically get a chicken breast, and bang it quite thin. Spread some tomato puree on it, sprinkle some garlic, basil and oregano on that then top with whatever pizza toppings you fancy ie mushroom, onion, peppers, ham, cheese and whack it in the oven for about 20 minutes on about gas 5 and it is lovely and really satisfying

Welcome back blondes

iklboo Thu 23-May-13 20:26:42

Thanks for the name check blondes. Good to have you back.

Had herby mince cous cous for tea tonight. Except we forgot the herbs. Oh well. Still tasted nice.

Got a wedding on Saturday. All dayer. Going to try to be good cos it's DH's birthday then holidays! Very naughty times ahead (food wise, I mean).

used2bthin Thu 23-May-13 20:32:08

Thank you blondes it had been coming off quite slowly so it is good to see a good loss, glad I skipped a weeks weigh in as it was somehow more motivating to see two weeks worth in one go, plus last week I was hormonal and bloated and thought I would become disheartened if I hadn't lost anything.

That chicken pizza sounds lovely! I think I will make that for me and the children one day and it can be a lighter meal for dh who would annoyingly still not think it would fill him up as its chicken! Argh!

used2bthin Thu 23-May-13 20:32:27

Meant to say thanks huffpot.

Loolah Thu 23-May-13 20:50:30

I've lost 3st 2lb since January ( I still need to lose at least another 3st hmm) I feel I've been really good but last week I stayed the same and this week only lost 0.5lb. Was gutted have decided to up the exercise to see if that helps??

3girls1madboy Thu 23-May-13 20:52:59

Hi all smile

Had a lovely, encouraging text from sw consultant this evening! That and this thread keep me motivated grin

Big milestone this week, I got into size 12 skinny chuffed with myself.

Keep going my lovelies it is worth it, and at the sake of sounding cheesy, so are we wink

Signed up today, think I'd like to lose 4 1/2 stones which seems a huge amount. Still, trying to think of it in small steps.

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 23-May-13 22:40:39

I am so envy at all you who have lost 2+ stone since jan

Not sure about chicken pizza - just sounds like chicken with toms and free toppings grin

Oh had cheeses buttery mash for tea and I didn't even lick the spoon smile

TheDetective Thu 23-May-13 22:44:35

I've just got my 1st tonight, 2lb off this week. 4 weeks in... still going strong.

I need to eat more superfree though. I think that is why this week and last week have only seen 1-2lb losses.

I'm going to up the game this week and see what happens! I would like 4lb off this week please!

I gained 1st 10lb in 9 weeks. So I'd like it off just as quick please!

TheDetective Thu 23-May-13 22:46:06

I had a toastie for tea tonight. I used my HEB as bread and HEA as cheese, popped some weight watchers bacon on it and had it with 2 fried eggs to dip it in. Was utterly delish, and totally free.

I can't wait for another tomorrow!!!!

I'd have that for lunch but with some grilled tomatoes and mushroom, or a salad. Would be yum!

Curlywurlysareyum Thu 23-May-13 23:05:42

Lost 2.5 this week. So pleased.

If I get 2 off per week I could be at target for my hols. Haven't felt this good in ten years I'm so happy. Making good choices - resisted a mc ds yest while kids had one. Realising I would rather send my syns on things I really want rather than waste them.

Starting to write stuff down this week as I'm finding old habits slipping in.

3grls - well done!!!

Littlemouse - how did u do?

Used2bethin - I get weeks were I really struggle and stay same or go up one then down 1 - it's so hard to pull yourself out of it but I find once I do then I usually have a good few weeks of weight loss until it happens again! It's just looking at the overall weight loss and not dwelling too much on one bad week.

Curlywurlysareyum Thu 23-May-13 23:09:45

Usedtobethin - sorry I didn't read ur last post saying u had lost - that's fab well done smile

buzzgirly Fri 24-May-13 07:59:25

Ok if I join? I think I posted on the last thread.

I joined SW in January and got my 1 1/2 in early April and I can't seem to get past it! I seem to have lost my motivation even though I've got another 1 1/2 stones to go.

Please help motivate me again!

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 24-May-13 08:54:35

Oh god. Gain of 5 lbs sad

But was a fab holiday smile

Now to try and shift a stone before end of July and my 40th - have a new snazzy black and silver dress to wear so hope it fits me now sad

Good Lisa's detective and yummy sandwich using a and b

Curly - well done on loss

Welcome back buzz

obrigada Fri 24-May-13 10:51:06

Ok if I join? Meal planning is my main downfall, can anyone tell me how they go about planning their meals for the week?

IsaacCox Fri 24-May-13 13:43:31

10 weeks is great Jennifer smile

Well done on all the fab losses smile

I'm sure that 5 lbs will come off easily Blondes

I decided yesterday that I really needed to up my water intake. I filled a 2L bottle with water and sugar free juice (hopefully will be able to stand just water soon) and had it through the day and am doing the same for the rest of the week to see if it helps. I usually only have 2 drinks a day but it wasn't so hard to have 2L.

Hope everyone is having a good day smile

Huffpot Fri 24-May-13 14:55:11

isaac Im awful and rarely drink so will be interested to see how you go next WI

blonde I put on 4 just pigging out at home so you did well!grin

Well, I put on another half pound on Wednesday. But have my TOTM at last, so that should hopefully fall away come next weigh in. I've also been insanely good.

Have bought new digital scales to make weighing my cereal and other weigh-ables easier.

Breakfast - 30g All Bran Golden Crunch + 250ml semi-skimmed milk
Lunch - Well, it was breakfast really, had at around 11.30
Dinner - Lemon Sole with mash and veggies.
Snacks - so far, some blueberries and raspberries

Am I right in thinking I can snack on fruit & veg all day if I want to?

laughalot Sat 25-May-13 18:10:20

Hi everyone

Stayed the same this week I am desperate to get under 12st now argh !!!! 6 weeks today until im on the way to Turkey this weight must go grin.

MrsFrederickWentworth Sat 25-May-13 18:22:24

I need to lose masses.

A friend has done sw v successfully, can you recommend?

I have a shitty stressful life atm with no prospect if it changing and I eat and drink when stressed.

Can't face going to meetings and dont have time. So would be on line.

Views? Advice?

I go to a group, so slightly different, but I can definitely recommend the plan. Once you get over the fact that you can snack on certain things as much as you want to, and you don't have to count calories, it's easy to follow.

I find the group invaluable for the support, but if you can't get to one, give online a go.

MrsHelsBels yep, most fruit and veg is free, so snack away! grin

I'm finding this week a lot easier as I'm not out and about, which is when my willpower slides into the gutter and I eat junk. Working on that, but it's a very old habit so it'll take a while.

I'm desperate to get my stone award, only 4.5lbs to go after that pound gained over the past 2 weeks.

laughalot Sat 25-May-13 20:10:44

I started on the 7th Jan doing the plan on my own ordered the books off ebay. I weighed 14st 5lb I am now 12st 3lb with willpower it can be done you do have to bein the right frame of mind grin.

laughalot Sat 25-May-13 20:11:24

12st 2 actually im cheating myself out of a 1lb.

Curlywurlysareyum Sat 25-May-13 21:02:27

Laughalot - we are so close. I was 12.2 this morning too - I think I will cry when I see 11 !!!

I love the reaction of my friends I haven't seen for a while! At the beginning if people noticed I would say just a bit. Now I'm thanking them and saying yes I've finally done it after all these years. Compliments def are a motivation for me to keep at it!!!

Curlywurlysareyum Sat 25-May-13 21:08:43

Blondes 5 lbs - could have been much worse! I dread to think what my gain will be on holiday!!!

debbie1412 Sat 25-May-13 21:45:28

Hey ladies my names Debbie, just found this thread and boy do I need it. Been with slimming world 5 weeks. My weigh in is a Monday night, I lost 4.5lb/5lb/2.5/2lb/1lb 15lbs in total so far. I'm pleased as I have 2.5st on baby weight to shift. The last 2 weeks I got cocky slightly and it shows in the weight loss. So this wk I have been good as gold and I mean really good. Snuck on my scales this afternoon they are only ounces diff to theirs and I've gained 1lb. I'm so fricking deflated, I could literally stuff my face with every piece of crap in the house.
Could water retention be possible?? I think I'm due on I'm not sure because only had 1 period since I stopped BF 6/7 weeks ago so not sure about my new cycle yet. I've also started at the gym again after 15 months off. I did 4 sessions last wk.
Surely I can't of gained. Anyone followed the extra easy plan and had a gain?? I really need some advice.
Thanks in advance x

Debbie, in all honesty, I'd stay away from any scales. I don't use mine anymore, well, I do sneak on on a Wednesday morning before I weigh in that evening, but mine are massively different to theirs.

Only times I've had gains, I've been over-synning. Also, sometimes our body can go "woah, hang on, what you doing?!" if we lose a lot of weight quite quickly, and can hold onto the weight. This could be what's happened, but I guess you won't know til weigh in to know the definite answer. Do you do a food diary?

I discovered a yesterday, after purchasing some new kitchen scales, that I'd been massively over-estimating my cereal and milk allowances. 30g of my favourite cereal is not much at all sad I've also discovered blueberries and raspberries are brilliant for when I have a sweet craving. So hopefully, this next weigh in should be a loss for me. I'd love a 5lb loss as that'd take me to my stone award smile

debbie1412 Sat 25-May-13 22:45:33

Well if it wasn't bolloxed before it now is. I've just had a 20min binge fest. I really hadn't gone over my 5 syns. I'd possibly had a extra coffee but that wouldn't of taken me to 15. I hadn't kept a food diary but I didn't need to all of my food intake has been on the plan.
That's me at the gym in the morning. Totally annoyed with myself x

Curlywurlysareyum Sun 26-May-13 08:49:13

Debbie - I have heard of that happening to a few people in class as soon as they start exercising. The leader says it comes off the following week. Try to look at your overall fantastic loss and not be disheartened. You are doing so well.

Curlywurlysareyum Sun 26-May-13 08:52:17

And also Debbie - don't forget 1 to 2 pounds is a healthy weight loss - I average over my time at sw at 1.5 per week. Slow and steady not a bad thing.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Sun 26-May-13 09:35:32

Struggling today for the first time in six weeks. Lost 11.5lbs and really want to make my first stone before my birthday this time next week. But really, really CBA. Had melon and a mushroom omelette for breakfast and feel like sabotaging it with toast and butter.

SalaciousCrumb Sun 26-May-13 16:48:49

Hi....I'd like to join you all if that's OK smile. I've let things badly slip and following slimming world as from today. Will wi tomorrow morning.

I successfully lost almost 2 stone with Blondes and Laughalot on a previous thread <this is Trimmer as was> but looking forward to chatting with you all.

I have plans to exercise 4/5 times a week and keep it up.

Done a bit of gardening today, hoping that will burn some calories and therefore some fat, as I've been SO good food wise this week.

Off to Alton Towers with my college mates in June, so would like to have got my stone award before we go. We go on 10th June so not long eek! I also start a new voluntary job on the 17th June so I'd love to be on my way to 1.5 stone gone by then.

Hopeforever Sun 26-May-13 17:23:58

Chatting at the pub last night I discovered half of the village are doing SW. Friends have lost between 7lb and 4 1/2 stone, so feeling positive even though i didn't lose last week, hope its just water from PMT.

Staying with friends next week so will have t be really good

iklboo Sun 26-May-13 17:27:04

Dreading weigh in tomorrow. Yesterday we were at a wedding with loads of yummy food (there was no way we were refusing it!) and there may have been one or two glasses of wine.

This morning was a full English breakfast with toast at the hotel <gibber>.

I DID dance my tush off for a solid hour though, so that must have helped, surely?! grin

Dawndonna Sun 26-May-13 17:36:45

I've been insanely good this week, not eaten anywhere near 10 syns each day. Will have lost two pounds hopefully. I'm not one of those people where it goes really fast, unfortunately.

buzzgirly Sun 26-May-13 17:50:08

I have been ok this week. Honestly where is my willpower?! I ended up having a chippie last night as I just could not face cooking. But I have done lots of gardening so hoping that will balance it out!

muminthecity Sun 26-May-13 18:50:16

Bank holiday weekends are always a struggle for me! I was out Friday, didn't eat much but drank a hell of a lot of rum blush. Out all day yesterday, chose the healthiest food I could but still probably over my syns. Been really good today and planning to be really good tomorrow. I'm going to my sister's for a barbecue and she has assured me she will make lots of healthy options (lean meat, salads etc) so I should be ok there.

laughalot Sun 26-May-13 19:46:20

Trimmer helloooooooo welcome back grin. Blondes is on here regular got herself banned off facebook for a week dont ask typical blondes wink.

Curly it is so nice losing the weight and people picking up on it, I am a travel agent so we dont see the same customers all that regular could be say 6/7 weeks between visits and one of them came in the other day and she said in these words ''bloody hell you have lost a load of weight'' grin.

Keep trying everyone bank holiday is a pain just want to drink cider lol my hubby poured a glass earlier I had a glass of water instead boo.

IsaacCox Sun 26-May-13 20:11:36

This week is going to be a huge struggle for me. I was out all day yesterday and didn't eat until late, then ate some sweets. Went over 15 syns but not by too much.

Tomorrow is DH's birthday. We're going out for dinner and he's got a (small) chocolate coming with the Tesco delivery tomorrow. I'll have to have a small piece wink

Then Friday it's my sister's 18th. We're having a full day out- breakfast, bowling, ice skating, Lunch then back home to do a buffet and BBQ and drinks for family and friends! I think I'll just have to take the day off!

And then, on Sunday me and DH are off to York for 2 nights, so I'll be mainly off then too.

I am looking forward to the week but tbh I'm dreading it too because I don't want to put weight on sad

I'm looking forward to having a 100% week again the week after!

IsaacCox Sun 26-May-13 20:15:31

I will be 100% on the days inbetween.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Sun 26-May-13 20:25:49

Grrr - DH is insisting he wants to go out for lunch tomorrow. We have eaten out twice since Wednesday and it is a bloody struggle. He fancies Nando's. I don't eat meat, so there is nothing even vaguely 'on plan'.

Might let him struggle with the DCs and sit on my own outside with a packed lunch.

HeartOfDixie Sun 26-May-13 20:39:52

So second SW week and today floored me as first day out and went over syns big style. Very cross with myself but gonna wake up tommorow and start over! Any tips on how to handle whole days out of the house and not in work?

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 26-May-13 21:47:39

<waves to salcrumb aka trimmer>

ive been so bad this weekend sad bloody weddings and free booze and kfc, chinese, fried breakfast at the hilton, tho did have kiwi with it grin

but i promise will try and be goods for the next 4 days as otherwise what is the point

but have lost my mojo at the moment esp as put 99% of the weight i lost back on after holiday

Littlemousewithcloggson Sun 26-May-13 21:52:07

I wouldn't say I'm an expert but seem to be managing on days out. Today went out for breakfast and ordered bacon, tomatoes, scrambled egg (checked how made). Also out for lunch and ordered baked potato with beans and salad. Went on a playdate with my daughter this afternoon and took Alpen light bars for " tea and cake" time.
Picnic with family tomorrow and have made slimming world quiches in individual foil cases ( must remember fork!) to eat with salad. Will also have low syn ice lolly too I expect.
Went to wedding last week and ate a huge slimming world breakfast before leaving. Took alpine light bars and fruit to snack on so didn't stray much on the meal and drank spritzers with diet lemonade or Bacardi and diet coke. Only way I can cope with days out is to think about it and plan. Hope that helps.

I find planning helps too. I just need to be braver in restaurants in terms of asking how stuff is cooked etc.

Going ice skating on Tuesday and planning a nice lunch at a nice pub chain place that's just down the road from the ice rink. They even advertise the fact they will substitute chips etc for other stuff.

SalaciousCrumb Sun 26-May-13 22:42:55

Great to hook up with you again laughalot and blondes motivation is good at the moment, I have plans to do RPM tomorrow night, Aerobics on Tuesday, gym another night and RPM again on Friday.

I have to work out why I have zero willpower and cave in all the time. Did so well and it's gone back on again. My mate who is a fitness instructor said "you have to change your normal." I have to kick my snacking habit.

Littlemouse I completely agree about huge slimmers world breakfasts. Works for me, today I had muesli followed by eggs, beans and mushrooms. I coped with watching dd and her mate eating chips after swimming today.

What do you all do about weigh in day? Do we all have the same day?

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 26-May-13 22:56:20

i can plan around a restaurant as i chose what i want

but when at a wedding its harder also ate a mountain of white bread and cheese yesterday

HeartOfDixie Sun 26-May-13 23:01:56

All good tips. Will try big breakfast and to take SW snacks with me for when temptation gets a bit much.

TheDetective Sun 26-May-13 23:07:27

I've just come to post here for advice about eating out...!

I am really angry and cross. We've been doing SW for 4 weeks now, and have been 100% the whole time. Me and DP have both lost just over 1 stone and are doing really well.

So this week was the first time we had to eat out. We had deliberately avoided it - it is something we wanted to wait til we had a certain amount of weight off before doing. But DP's sister insisted we go to a wacky warehouse pub for her babys 1st birthday. I checked all the nutritional information before I went. I tried to work out the syns, but you can't as it doesn't give you the portion sizes. I figured no problem, I'll just ask in the pub. But they didn't know/wouldn't tell me. So I ended up with something off the 'under 600 calorie menu' which was a thai green curry. I don't like curry. I didn't want it. But it was the only thing vaguely suitable other than a bowl of vegetables. I couldn't work the syns out so I just ate the chicken pieces after taking most of the sauce off, and the yellow rice which was free. I assumed that was my syns for the day and just didn't have anything else. But so very disappointing spending money on something you don't enjoy, and then can't go home and have something you can enjoy because you are worrying about the syns in it!

Today we were at my mums for dinner. I asked my mum for a few bits of information about the food we were eating, just so I could accurately syn it, but she just acted all vague and wouldn't tell me what I needed to know. I did end up pressing her for the information but she just wouldn't tell me. I got really fed up in the end, as she is the one who has criticised me for years and years telling me I'm fat, I need to lose weight. Then when I do something about it, she won't fecking help me.

Sorry. This has turned out in to a bit of a rant. I'm just sad as I want to be able to eat out, but know what I am having in order to be able to syn it and stay within my allowances.

TheDetective Sun 26-May-13 23:08:48

A lovely breakfast/lunch I've been having is my HEA and HEB as wholemeal bread and cheese, then 2 slices of bacon minus fat, and 2 fried eggs. Make a toastie with the cheese and bacon, and then the eggs as a side to dip my toastie in. Bloody lovely and satisfying!

Huffpot Mon 27-May-13 06:37:51

I weigh in on a Wednesday smile
Have been back on track this week so hopefully will have lost some of the gain from last week.
Have woken up with a sore throat this morning - does anyone have any low syn/syn free remedies? I know lemsips are 0.5 syns and hot water, lemon and ginger I would normally put honey in...

Its hard Detective when you're out. My friends and I normally take our DC to Wacky once a week and I get the jacket potato with beans and salad and a cup of tea while the others have lattes. Then at least I know I don't need to stress about portion size etc as its free food

Another lovely sunny day here in London smile

laughalot Mon 27-May-13 09:13:23

Detective when I go out I have what I want and just get back on it the next day it has never caused me any harm yet in all the time iv been on the diet which was 7th Jan my biggest gain in a week was 1 lb so just have what you like and get back on it but avoid the puddings grin. You need to still go out and enjoy yourself.

IsaacCox Mon 27-May-13 09:32:41

Like laughalot I have what I want when we go out and go straight back on it. That toastie sounds immense TheDetective smile

I had a cheeky weigh in this morning and I've reached my first target of 7lb by the time we go away for a few days (which isn't until Sunday!) Very happy smile I think it's taken me 2 weeks and 3 days.

I'm being good and having no syns until we go out for dinner tonight then will be 100% tomorrow.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Mon 27-May-13 09:49:37

Decided on Pizza Express today - they do a new Superfood salad thing which is less than 300 calories and looks yum.

Just had quorn sausages, spinach and tomatoes for breakfast. And watermelon. Much nicer than cold toast, which was my pre-SW choice!

iklboo Mon 27-May-13 10:41:07

1lb OFF!! Just 0.5 away from my 2.5 stone award. Bit gutted at missing that but after this weekend I'm over the moon with any loss. DH has gained a pound. He's not happy.

Off to the gym for a 5k walk soon and back to being good until Thursday. Then it's DH's birthday & jollydays.

obrigada Mon 27-May-13 10:44:46

Day 1 for me today, (weigh-in not till tomorrow) so not 100% sure of starting weight, had breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs, 1/3rd superfree made up of tomatoes, mushrooms and onion. Had fat-free yoghurt as well. My best friend has lost 3½ stone on SW since November so this WOE definitely workssmile
Am doing SW online (with my friend as my SW consultantwink)

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 27-May-13 12:18:48

detective - that sucks, sounds like your family are jealous of your hard work and weight loss

tip for eating out,as laughalot said generally a jacket potato with beans/tuna is a good bet

huffpot - hot lemon squash and i would put honey in it for a syn

cox - well done on 7 lb loss

ikiboo - ah for loss, you are doing so well

obrigarda - breakie sounds nice, good luck tomorrow

b fruit
l diet coke chicken
t possible blondes quiche and salad

reallybad at having a nd b - maybe weetabix/milk for a snack later

obrigada Mon 27-May-13 12:31:59

Thanks Blonde, I have been a member of SW online for a few months now but am only now starting to get my head around it, will stumble through for this week and hopefully get a better handle on it next week. My "a" today is 2 babybel original, my "b" today is 1 Alpen Light cereal bar.

Well, today has been OK.

b - well, I didn't have any as I wasn't hungry
l - beef and rice (no fat on the beef)
d - chicken and salad
Snacks - got some blueberries left and will probably also have a yoghurt later smile

Both sets of scales in the house are saying I should get my stone award on Wednesday night, but I've NEVER had a 4.5lb loss so I'm not hopefu haha I think the scales are lying!

TheDetective Mon 27-May-13 13:43:11

Thanks for the eating out tips. Unfortunately for me I'm really fussy with food so it was already a pain eating out.

I didn't eat meat for 15 years. I still only eat chicken, bacon without fat, and ham on the bone. That is it. So I eat a combo of veggie stuff too.

I like baked potatoes - but don't like beans. I don't eat fish. So I have to have butter/marge or cheese sad which you can't get an accurate weight of when out eating to syn it. When we went out last week I did carry some of our own marge in a tub with me. But to be honest I want cheese with it. sad

DP had steak. Grrrr. Easy for him!! I just struggle sad

Huffpot Mon 27-May-13 15:28:29

Congrats on the losses

Ahhh that would be hard detective....I'd eat just about anything hence the reason I'm the size I am!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Mon 27-May-13 15:42:35

Ended up at Wagamama, not Pizza Express. I reckon the salmon miso salad, without dressing, must be free - just salmon and veg. I'm counting the sesame seeds as a HE.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 27-May-13 16:00:20

you can have 2 alpen lights for a b

Maybe take babybels out detective and have as a on a jacket

TheDetective Mon 27-May-13 16:10:18

I am so fussy blush. I have to have the cheese melted. I guess most places wouldn't take kindly to melting cheese I've bought with me. grin

I am so fussy. I try not to be!

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 27-May-13 16:54:58

If you grate it beforehand then hopefully it would melt on a hot jacket smile

iklboo Mon 27-May-13 17:20:30

We take a small squeezy bottle of extra light mayo if we're going out for a meal. I look a bit odd getting it out of my handbag but I reckon it's better than syns.

Tonight's tea has been delicious. Chicken breast beaten thin, topped with slice of Leerdammer Light & naice ham, covered in breadcrumbs made from HEB. Served with a jacket potato & asparagus. Mmmmm.

And a curly wurly for a 6 syn pud smile.

SalaciousCrumb Mon 27-May-13 17:37:35

I like the idea of curly wurly for pudding!

Day 1 for me today. Wi this morning. I have 2 stone 13 lb to lose.

It is 5 weeks until a big birthday for me. I am hoping to lose 12lbs before then.

Hope everyone's having a good bank hol.

Dawndonna Mon 27-May-13 18:24:26

I lost 3lbs this week. Happy Bunny!

SalaciousCrumb Mon 27-May-13 19:07:31

well done! Hope I'll be posting something like that next week....

3girls1madboy Mon 27-May-13 20:09:31

Hi all...been a glorious weekend in 3girls land smile

WI this morning, and I lost 4lb, that's 2st 11lb since 4th Jan, I was shock but very grin with myself.

Week is all planned out for dinners, as the kids are off school, and I don't want to go off track.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 27-May-13 20:52:26

Well done dawn and 3girls

I made the broccoli and pasta bake from sw mag. Was yummy. Oh ate the pasta and left the broccoli

I even made with cottage cheese and eggs plus healthy extra for cheese

IsaacCox Mon 27-May-13 21:15:04

Well done on the losses smile

I've just been out for dinner. Had 1 large glass of red wine, chicken breast and salad burger, shared my fries with dh and also shared a raspberry cheesecake too. Didn't really enjoy it at all, much prefer sw food shock never thought I'd say that!

I've just got back and done 100 reps with the 10kg weights!

muminthecity Tue 28-May-13 00:52:08

Congrats Dawn and 3girls, fantastic losses!

I've been shit today. My sister kept her word and provided lots of healthy options at her barbecue (tuna nicoise salad, homemade koftas, chicken breasts and corn on the cobs, which were all free.) Unfortunately, there were also some unhealthy options and I couldn't resist, so had a burger in a bun, coleslaw and potato salad (lots of mayo!) as well. Fingers crossed they won't have too much of a bad effect at WI tomorrow!

I'm struggling for syn free snacks that aren't fruit or veg. Any ideas? Am in 1st week so still getting my head round it all.

IsaacCox Tue 28-May-13 09:05:30

Boiled eggs, muller lights, lean meats, pickled onions, mug shots. That's all I can think of at the mo smile

obrigada Tue 28-May-13 09:24:36

MrsHelsBels74, I am in my 1st week too and still trying to get my head around it as well, am not a lover of fruit so your question regarding syn free snacks is helping me as well wink. Had a good day yesterday, total syns 7. Just need to keep the momentum up, I work full time and can get very lazy in the evenings so normally opt for a takeaway blush

TheDetective Tue 28-May-13 10:00:23

I have what Isaac has too! I also make up a pasta salad, which is just pasta, sweetcorn, red onion, cherry tomatoes, and a red and yellow pepper. Make a big tub up, then dish out little portions for snacks. It is full of flavour, and I don't put any dressing on. DP does, he puts free dressings on it, but I really like it without! You could do it with rice too.

Noodles are free, I eat those but put chilli powder in for spicy noodles!

A low syn snack is sugar free jelly. I don't like those 10cal pots which are 0.5 syns, so I make my own, and one sachet is 1.5 syns, well, that is a whole bowl full! You can add fruit to the jelly for getting your superfree in!

I must say, I tend to cook more, so snacks aren't as quick these days, and do have to be thought about in advance! I'm going to have a bowl of noodles mid morning today. I've just had a banana and muller light for breakfast though. So am already hungry!

Today I am thinking of one of my bacon and cheese toasties for lunch, but I've no mushrooms and tomatoes in to have as my superfree foods! Might just have to dig around and see what is left in the salad draw confused. Probably manky old veg. Need to go shopping!

Last nights tea was yummy. I had a veggie bean burger from Iceland (3 syns compared to 5-6 in other brands) and put my HEB as mozzarella and roasted some peppers to put on my wholemeal bun. It was delicious! Am drooling now at the thought!

Any other good tea suggestions today? We want something with loads of veg for tonight!

IsaacCox Tue 28-May-13 10:15:01

MrsHelsBels74, I know you said no fruit, but I've recently found a delicious snack that is free and tastes yummy. Chop a banana into a bowl, cover with a banana and custard muller light yogurt then sprinkle over some cinnamon. Yum!

That burger sounds delish with mozzarella and peppers, TheDetective.

We're having homemade sausages, mash and loads of veg for dinner tonight. I can't wait already grin

SalaciousCrumb Tue 28-May-13 10:23:21

Detective that burger sounds lovely, especially as I'm a veggie

Thanks for snack suggestions also. I find pickled onions take my mind off being hungry as they are so strong!

I've had such a good week - partly due to not leaving the house since Friday! WI tomorrow night, hoping for a couple of pounds off.

Making the SW sausage casserole for the family tonight - my mum is helping (I live at home) smile Love cooking for my family, and love getting them involved. Everything we've tried so far from SW has been lovely and they've commented you can't tell it's "diet food" grin

I'm not avoiding fruit because I don't like it, it's just it doesn't satisfy me the way fattier snacks do.

I think I'm addicted to sugar & fat so it will be good to get used to not eating so much of the bad stuff. And more fruit & veg can never be bad can it?

I want to lose about 4 1/2 stone which seems incredible (about 1/3 total body weight shock). It just feels insurmountable at the moment. Once I start seeing the weight come off I'm sure it will start to seem more doable (I hope).

TheDetective Tue 28-May-13 13:08:03

I want to lose around the same Hels. I've been doing it a month and 15lb is off now. It seems more achievable now for sure. I just wish it was quicker!!

I enjoy grilled mushrooms and tomatoes (put salt and pepper and dried oregano or basil on the tomatoes!) for a quick get home and starving snack. They are ready in less than 10 minutes. The portabello mushrooms are good for this. Feels naughty but it's not!

I need to find stuff that I don't have to cook though for when I go back to work!!

TheDetective Tue 28-May-13 13:12:42

I've tended to stick with low syn snacks/treats that give you a sugar rush (and I've enjoyed!). These include the small 12.5g milky bars which are 4 syns. Jaffa cakes 2.5 syns each. Kit Kats 5.5 syns for a 2 bar one. I find the Kit Kat gives me a good boost and stops me running to the shop and buying lots of shit!!

My trouble at the moment is that I can't just eat one Jaffa cake or mini kitkat so at the moment it's easier not to have them in the house. Quite like the Options white chocolate at 2 syns but again have to limit myself.

Also, can anyone advise on those seafood sticks. SW booklet says free but app says 1 syn. I know they're rubbish but I like them grin

I want to lose 5 stone, although it's 4 and a half now as I lost my first half stone a while back. Crazy to think that at the end of this journey, I'll be minus 1/3 of my total bodyweight shock

I find I have to be rigid when it comes to snacks at the moment. If I even SMELL chocolate, my willpower goes and I over indulge. So I'm sticking to fruit, yoghurts and the occasional HiFi bar until I can be trusted not to fall off the wagon completely if I eat a KitKat.

Dawndonna Tue 28-May-13 13:51:14

Just had toast, beans, mushrooms, eggs. Can't move!

Lollyheart Tue 28-May-13 14:13:36

First weigh in for me tomorrow .
Want to lose 3 stone.
Fingers crossed for a nice loss in the morning but got my bloody period today so hopefully it won't mess with the scales.
I'm making sw chilli tonight can't wait smile

Lollyheart Tue 28-May-13 14:24:49

The app seems to be more in most syns iykwim, I'm going by the book as like seafood sticks too grin

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Tue 28-May-13 14:36:43

I've just had a really nice salad - bulgar wheat and quinoa mix, cooked and mixed with some beetroot, carrot and cabbage, then lots of lemon juice and some soy sauce.

Even better when you consider DS2 was having fish and chips at the same time.

SalaciousCrumb Tue 28-May-13 14:38:33

Can anybody help me with a syn question? How many syncs in a costa medio cappuccino?

Good luck to all wi tomorrow.

Lollipop I'm the same with chocolate!

Dawn that's my plan for breakfast when I go back to work on Thurs. stops me from stuffing my face as I don't get lunch till 2pm

laughalot Tue 28-May-13 14:40:32

Epic fail for laughalot Mcdonalds ! ! ! !

SalaciousCrumb Tue 28-May-13 14:40:52

SalaciousCrumb Tue 28-May-13 14:42:25

Tis half term Laughalot!

Bac to healthy stuff for dinner?

laughalot Tue 28-May-13 14:44:46

Yes tuna salad lol. I had a quater ponder cheese with fries angry I dread the syn value on that.

laughalot Tue 28-May-13 14:45:10

pounder even !!!!

SalaciousCrumb Tue 28-May-13 14:51:39

I think the odd blip can be absorbed Laughalot. I am wondering about my humongous cappuccino! I am off to the gym to pound the treadmill!

I need to get a syn book from somewhere, I am just going by the initial instruction book from group when I went last year.

MindfulMe Tue 28-May-13 14:58:25

Hello All!
Great reading your stories.
Just need to get an idea of what my target weight should be. I'm doing SW online. My starting weight was 11 stone and I've lost 5 pounds.
I'm just short of 5"7. What sort of target do you think I should be going for? I am fairly curvy- bra size 30gg and my weight goes on my hips and upper thighs.
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

I'm shorter and heavier than both of you, even with 11.5 lbs off!

But, I'm going in the right direction.

I'm 5ft 0 & 12st7lb hmm

Aiming for 8st but wonder if that's just too ambitious.

captainBeaky Tue 28-May-13 17:40:15

We can do it!

TheDetective Tue 28-May-13 17:48:17

I'm now 15st 1.5 from 16st 2.5. Am aiming for 11st and a 12-14 as I can maintain this and feel happy at that size. Happy enough anyway! I'm 5ft 2!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees Tue 28-May-13 17:53:37

Just found this thread.<<waves to detective>>Hoping it can give me much needed motivation. I'm 5'7 and currently 14st11.5 I had lost 10 . 5lbs but put on 5 after a fortnight's holiday and I'm ashamed to say I managed to put on yet another lb this morning at weigh in. My target is 11.7lbs but this feels unachievable at the moment due to no willpower. I can't do much exercise as I have a severe prolapse and am still suffering from spd pain post pregnancy.

Well I went totally off the rails all weekend. McDonalds, biscuits, curry, pastry....I could go on blush
Ive been good today, and will be good tomorrow but I think WI will arrive too soon on Thursday morning!

They should take my stone award back!

laughalot Tue 28-May-13 19:18:15

Im 12st 2 and 5 foot 4 down from 14.5 was a 16/18 now a 12/14.

I'm five foot two and started in February at 13st6! Am 12st10.5 at the moment after a few blips and maintains.

I'm already looking at dresses to treat myself to once I hit target!

MindfulMe Tue 28-May-13 19:53:20

Salacious, yes I have a small waist and chest but larger breasts and hips. I haven't yet managed to find a guide on the SW website. It's hard to know, BMi wise I am 24 ish I think but I'm never convinced that's a great benchmark as it doesn't take account of things like frame - or big boobs!

TheDetective Tue 28-May-13 20:11:49

Hello Izzy! You can do it! I am amazed I've stuck to it! I have no willpower at all.

It has opened my eyes though to the amount of calories in stuff I'd never even thought about before.

I'm enjoying my food at the minute. Made some nice things lately. Tonight we are trying diet chicken cola, but with pepsi max as I prefer it!! Doing grilled peppers and courgettes, with sweet potato wedges to have as a side.

I'm drooling at the thought. Dinner is late tonight! I wish it would hurry! grin

Well, when I set my interim target with my consultant last week, we looked at the BMI chart, and set a target in the middle of the "overweight" section, because at the moment, I'm in the "obese" bit. My ultimate target of 8 stone will put my comfortably in the "healthy" bit.

As for dresses for when I'm at target, I look at those all the time!

laughalot Tue 28-May-13 21:08:18

Mindfullme I weigh on boots scales every week and it tells you on the print out your ideal bmi and what you are at.

TheDetective Tue 28-May-13 21:08:39

The diet cola pepsi chicken was awesome. Totally recommend it. We had it with sweet potato wedges and grilled peppers. Yum frickin' yum!!

TheDetective Tue 28-May-13 21:09:45

I do that too laughalot. It's pretty accurate. I like to see my BMI coming down!

iklboo Tue 28-May-13 21:17:36

Ginger soy chicken stir fry with noodles tomorrow. Chicken is marmalading (DS's word) in the fridge now.

Curlywurlysareyum Tue 28-May-13 23:11:58

Lost 3 tonight. Got my 1 and a half stone award but almost 2 and a half off since summer As had lost weight before I joined sw.
So pleased. Would love 2 off next week.
BMi is 25.8 - has been close to 30 for so long.

I'm 5.8 and 12.1.5 (was 14.7). My friend slightly smaller but similar weight - she feels rotten where as I am starting to feel great. So I dont think we can compare - its just what makes us feel happy and comfortable. Someone else at 12 stone and my height might want to be 10 stone. i woukd be happy at a size 14 forever !! My advice to mindful is to go half stone at a time and take it from there.

detective will have to try diet coke chicken. Everyone in class always raving about it

muminthecity Tue 28-May-13 23:57:45

Well done Curly, I also lost 3 this week despite my overindulgence over the weekend!

Just need to lose 2.5lbs this week to reach 2 stone. Really hope I can do it!

Littlemousewithcloggson Tue 28-May-13 23:59:38

Would definitely recommend diet coke chicken. Also nice made with diet fanta, more like sweet and sour. Another 3lbs off for me at weigh in today so that's 1st 3lbs in 3 weeks, am loving this diet. (probably would have been more if I hadnt eaten a big mac, fries and 3 mars bars on Sunday!)

IsaacCox Wed 29-May-13 06:29:42

Wow, great losses Curly, muminthecity and littlemouse.

Diet coke chicken is gorgeous, we love it. Also diet lemonade chicken. Will have to try it with diet fanta.

I had a massive blip yesterday- a piece of a massive toblerone, a slice of chocolate birthday cake and 3/4 of a (big) bar of Tesco's Eton mess chocolate! I really wish I hadn't though as I had horrible cramps last night. Grrr.

Quorn bolgonese for dinner so I'll be doing a green day today. Weigh in tomorrow, doubt I've lost. I'll be happy with any loss to show!

Have a great day all.

Curlywurlysareyum Wed 29-May-13 07:23:06

Well done muminthecity and littlemouse - this thread def encourages us all to do it!!

Curlywurlysareyum Wed 29-May-13 07:24:34

isaac it's hard to do it every day. We all need to have a blip. I think u r great for getting back on it the next day.

onceipopicantstop Wed 29-May-13 07:41:18

Aaaargh its all gone wrong!! Lost 1.5lbs last week and then fell off the wagon big time. We had a rare child free night away in a posh hotel and I'd decided I wasn't going to worry about sw for a couple of days but have found it very difficult to restart - so have essentially eaten rubbish for 5 days blush. Trying to start again today. Am dreading WI sad

IsaacCox Wed 29-May-13 07:56:52

Thanks Curly thanks

We can do it onceipop smile

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Wed 29-May-13 08:33:25

Early weigh in this morning as DH is out tonight and I can't get a babysitter. Wish me luck.

captainBeaky Wed 29-May-13 08:35:24

Morning all. Started the day with a big plate of scrambled eggs, toms, veggie bacon and two small pieces of rye bread. I hope that's OK? Going to exercise, do a bit of gardening and be as active as I can today. I need to prise myself away from mumsnet. Why is it so addictive? Like everything else! Good luck today. Hope the sun is shining.

Where's the diet coke chicken recipe? Can anyone point me in the right direction as I couldn't see it on the SW website?

Hels I think it's on the SW website.

We had the SW sausage casserole last night, was lovely! Am escaping the house for the first time since Friday to go to group tonight - being in all the time is very annoying, roll on my voluntary work starting!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Wed 29-May-13 10:01:40

2lbs off. Get in!

Huffpot Wed 29-May-13 10:25:39

Well done on the losses and the blips I understand!

WI tonight and am hoping to get off some of the 4lb gain from my blip week last week!

hels I made mine by frying onion and peppers in frylight till softened then take them out of the pan. Fry chicken with salt and pepper until sealed then pop the onions and peppers back in. Pour over a can of diet coke(or diet drink of your choice), some passata or tomato puree and a tsp or so of chinese 5 spice. simmer until the sauce gets thick and sticky (which can take a while).
Absolutely gorgeous and lovely with home made syn free crispy seaweed as your superfree mmmmmm

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 29-May-13 12:39:42

wow lots of replies, cant name check as on phone

but well done all losers and welcome all newbies

height and weight and body size all seem strange - my friends weighs the same as me but looks skinner sad yet she flits into 18 jeans and im prob a 15 14/16in jeans

the diet coke chicken is yummy, tho better with pepsi max smile

I've browsed chicken recipes & can't obviously see it. What's it actually called?

But saying that, I wrote down 'creamy pasta bake' as an idea & can't find that recipe either confused

obrigada Wed 29-May-13 15:26:41

MrsHelsBels74 - I googled Chicken Diet Coke and got the following, hope this helpssmile

This is a classic recipe for Slimming World followers - it sounds really bizarre, but have faith, it turns into a really tasty barbecue-style sauce, and best of all it's FREE! I served mine with vegetable rice, but it would work equally well in a pitta bread, on a jacket potato or with Slimming World chips.

Serves 4

Syn free on Extra Easy and Original

400g sliced chicken breast

1 onion, diced

330ml can Diet Coke

6 tablespoons passata

Dash of worcestershire sauce

Fry Light

Salt and pepper to taste

Heat a large saute pan and spray with Fry Light
Add the chicken and onion and fry until beginning to colour
Add the remaining ingredients and bring to the boil
Simmer until the sauce thickens and reduces down to about half its volume - approximately 30 minutes

Well, just over an hour til my weigh in. I've had a good week, so hoping the scales paint a happy picture later smile

obrigada Wed 29-May-13 16:21:22

Good luck with your weigh in Lollipop, fingers crossed for yousmile

Huffpot Wed 29-May-13 16:29:03

Good luck Lollibop!
My WI tonight too once I get the babbies to bed smile

Huffpot Wed 29-May-13 16:29:21

Lollipop even blush

Dawndonna Wed 29-May-13 16:35:29

I'm having what you lot call frittata tonight. Syn free, loads of salad.

Good luck with weigh in everybody!

Hi everyone

Sorry I've just found the new thread, thought I'd say hi. Will catch up ASAP. I've been good all week but have a blissful weekend ahead in hotel with no kids where I plan to have a blow out - it's the law on your birthday though right grin

stowsettler Wed 29-May-13 16:55:45

Hello all

After many (sometimes successful) years of being a WW, I decided to join SW in an attempt to lose the last stone of weight I gained when pregnant with DD (now 3 months old). Weighed in today after a week - 3lb off! SOOO chuffed - especially considering that this week I had two nights on the booze (big reunion weekend) and a hangover Indian takeaway. I like SW. grin

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 29-May-13 16:56:52

'Waves to fish' I did link this thread to old one

Good luck lollipop

And diet coke chicken is fab / but better with Pepsi max - slightly sweeter - yummy with rice noodles or pasta

Amazing how sauce goes sticky and yummy and totally free

Keep meaning to make with diet lemonade. Someone I know on sw did it and said it was yummy

B 2 weetabix (b) milk (b) banana
L broccoli and cheese bake (6 for Chinese as had my a)
T tuna salad

FeelingHorse Wed 29-May-13 18:32:23

New here, and joined SW again 2 weeks ago.

Had a great loss of 4lbs in my first week, but put on 1lb today. Was expecting it to be honest - I have no will power when it comes to the odd beer/glass of wine at the end of the day.

I'm on maternity leave at the moment, and have 9 wo DS. I've been successful at SW before, but in the past I've been busy at work - now I'm at home all day and I can fall into bad habits! I have just cooked a batch of skin free chicken legs to snack on during the week.

I have to fit into my size 12 wedding dress in 9 weeks. I need to lose 2-3lbs a week from now on really. Please tell me I can do this!

SalaciousCrumb Wed 29-May-13 18:46:52

Hi all, 3rd day in for me. All free food apart from a quoin sausage sandwich with tomato sauce which I've counted as 13 syns.

Good luck to everyone wi

Stow sw works better for me too. Well done on your 3lb loss.

Fish a weekend in a hotel minus children I'm trying for one of those! For my birthday soonish we are planning to eat at Jamie's Italian...

Blondes sound like you're focused again. Are you still doing gym/classes?

SalaciousCrumb Wed 29-May-13 18:49:32

Hi feeling horse. I'm new too. There's a lot you can do in nine weeks! Good luck. I'm hoping to lose 10lb in 5 weeks.....

FeelingHorse Wed 29-May-13 18:54:35

thanks crumb, and well done to you!

I've just booked myself into a spin class on Friday morning - it'll be the first time I've been to the gym since giving birth. Eeek!

Lollyheart Wed 29-May-13 19:03:18

First wi today, 4.5 off grin
I love this diet smile
I had ham egg chips and beans for dinner, yum .

Going to try the diet coke chicken this week.
Does anyone have the sweet and sour chicken recipe?

SalaciousCrumb Wed 29-May-13 19:07:27

Congrats lolly! Well done!

feeling horse good luck with spinning. A few years ago now in a spinning lesson my bike collapsed under me! Have been nervous ever since!

Huffpot Wed 29-May-13 20:19:57

Well done Lolly and welcome horse.
crumb I smiled when I read your spin experience as could just imagine that happening to me!

3lbs off tonight so am happy with that although am still 1lb up due to 4lb gain last week

3 and a half off tonight! 1 pound shy of my stone award now. Also got Slimmer of the Month which was a real shock but a nice surprise smile

Right, I can SO lose a pound over the coming week. Mustn't get sidetracked or distracted.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Wed 29-May-13 20:42:04

Well done losers.

Horse I am six weeks in and 13.5 pounds off, so it is totally doable.

My mother hasn't noticed at all, which pisses me off a bit. But hey ho.

Littlemousewithcloggson Wed 29-May-13 21:50:19

Well done everyone, brilliant weight losses.
If anyone likes blue cheese dressing/ dips I
have a "recipe"
Crumble 25g Stilton into 3/4 tub quark and mix well. Cover and leave over night for quark to absorb the flavour. Use as a spread on ryvita, a dip or salad dressing. Can be made thinner with a small amount of skimmed milk . Lasts a while and only 5 syns for the whole lot.

I'm so excited, my poor mother is flying in to mind the 3 terrors beautiful children smile

IsaacCox Thu 30-May-13 07:39:09

Well done on all the losses smile

Littlemouse Stilton with quark sounds lovely. A creamy Stilton sauce is my favourite with pasta. Maybe I could use it as that?

I've weighed in this morning, I've sts from my last official weigh in (but put on 2lbs from my mid week one) I'm sticking with the sts, it sounds better grin so it's only 5lb in total. I've got a few more days of indulgences but as soon as it's Wednesday- I'm back on it 100%. You don't even want to know what I had for dinner last night and now the rest for breakfast today blush

Huffpot Thu 30-May-13 09:44:56

3lbs off for me last night so if I lose the same next week I'll get my stone award I think. Its almost wiped out the 4lb gain from my awful food week last week blush

Am still dying with a cold. Need to try and meal plan this week to make sure it does come off!

captainBeaky Thu 30-May-13 10:01:55

I know you aren't supposed to weigh every day but I just can't help myself! Tues was 11st9/10 and todays is 11st6 . Can I expect this to keep going at the same rate or does it slow down? I ate far too many seafood sticks yesterday though! No more cider for me (although there will be the odd glass of wine here and there!)
Good luck today everyone!

Huffpot I was a pound off my stone award last night. A pound! So close yet so far. I'm a bit annoyed as my family are noticing my body changing shape, but friends aren't, and neither am I! The only way I can tell is with my clothes fitting better/sizes dropping.

Think the day I fit into size 12 jeans the whole country will know about it, I'll be shouting for joy grin

First weigh in tonight. Looking forward to it & terrified in equal measure!

laughalot Thu 30-May-13 10:32:06

captainbeaky it will slow down as you lose more weight when I started it was 3lb ish a week and now im down to a 1lb a week but have lost 2 stone 3lb last weigh in. It starts to become a bit obsessive I have sets of scales at home and both say different today silly things.

laughalot Thu 30-May-13 10:33:20

that should say 2 sets of scales

captainBeaky Thu 30-May-13 10:36:56

that's brilliant laughalot! Can I ask how long it has taken?

laughalot Thu 30-May-13 10:38:57

7th jan I started grin.

captainBeaky Thu 30-May-13 10:40:32

Wow! Are you very strict with yourself?

laughalot Thu 30-May-13 10:49:13

I was to start with as I had started to creep into a size 18 clothes. I am now in a 12/14. If I was going out though I would eat and drink what I wanted and got straight back on it the next day. In all the time iv been doing it my biggest gain was a 1lb, I tend to find that as my period approaches a certain week in the month I stay the same weight that week so think that is water retention. As you start and lose the weight you notice a pattern. I will say right from the beginning I always used my syns though so most days had 15 syns I am trying to cut those down now as I have been stuck at this weight for a while and I am desperate to shift some more before we go away in July. Some weeks its really hard I caved in on tueday and had Mcdonalds with the kids oops. I dont do alot of excercise mainly 200 sit ups every night at home but I do walk most days as I dont drive so think that helps. It was easier for me to focus on losing half a stone at a time rather than looking at the overall picture my holiday photos from last year where the kick I needed. Good luck xx

laughalot Thu 30-May-13 10:50:21

It also depends on age as it is supposed to be harder to lose it as we get older so for the record im 34 grin.

Yeah I've been sneaking into size 16 clothes, which looks a lot bigger at 5ft 0. I don't know if I'm imagining it but I already feel like my stomach is slimmer (not nearly enough!).

obrigada Thu 30-May-13 12:09:53

Going to be harder for me so Laughalot as I am 50! I am 12st 8lb at the minute, for the last few years I have weighed in between 12st 7lb and 12st 11lb, so my initial goal is to get under 12st, even if it is only a quarter of ounce under the 12st, I really want to see 11st whatever showing on the scalessmile

TheDetective Thu 30-May-13 12:39:38

Feeling quite despondent. I'm totally sticking to this. My first 2 weeks I lost 10.5lb between them. Last 2 I lost 1.5 then 2. This week I have weigh in tonight but my scales tell me I'll have either gained 1/2 or sts tonight.

So why? In 3 weeks I'll have lost 3.5lb which to me is crap. You are guaranteed to lose 2lb a week if you stick to it.

Well I do stick to it completely and I am not losing what I should be. sad

This week I have eaten more supersede and less syns too. Been averaging 10 syns a day. And no fizzy diet drinks. So why this? It's not my period either I'm mid cycle. sad

feelingfitter Thu 30-May-13 12:41:52

Back again after a disastrous weigh in last wk (totm)

Craved everything in sight and went for it too blush

Hoping my gain from last wk will have dropped off at weigh in this wk.

Ah well, still happy and the few drinks on the weekend were naughty but nice wink

Dawndonna Thu 30-May-13 16:01:40

The Detective Have you upped your excersize this week?

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 30-May-13 16:38:41

Horse - welcome and yes harder being at home ad being good then at work

Crumb / I'm trying to be focused but hard with weird hours I'm doing for work so alas I'm never at the gym - yet paying a monthly membership sad

Lolly. Glad sw going well and I love diet coke chicken tho nicer with Pepsi max

Mouse. Cheese spread sounds nice but I can't get get to grips with quark sad

Huff. Well done on loss

Beaky. You can't weigh each day and tbh weight does go up and down daily so it's only a true result if you weigh at same time weekly

Laugh a lot - you have done so well envy well done smile

Obrigada. You will get there - age doesn't Matter

Detective. You lost a stone in 5 weeks that's fab smile

A healthy loss is a lb a week so you are well under that target

I hope to lose a lb tomorrow after my 5lb gain from
Holiday sad but been a hard week as wedding and ate bread and cheese and that's all they did not to mention the gins I drank ........

HeartOfDixie Thu 30-May-13 17:03:32

5lb for me this week so really please but know the hard work comes further down the line when the losses slow up! Only 4.5 stone to go.....

3.5lb for me at first weigh in. I feel a bit deflated, I think I was expecting more as the change to my eating habits has been drastic so I was (unrealistically) expecting dramatic results straight away.

Tell me it's a good start, that rapid weight loss is unhealthy & unsustainable???

Curlywurlysareyum Thu 30-May-13 22:48:18

hels - I have never lost more than 3.5 in a week and average at 1.5 per week. 13 weeks lost 1.5 stone. Slow and steady wins the race!! Good to chip away at it and look at the big picture. I admire people who lose big amounts but our metabolisms are all different. Just keep thinking positive. 3.5 is a fantastic loss smile

TheDetective Thu 30-May-13 22:53:01

Pissed off. 1lb on. WTF?

Totally sticking to this, so why?

I mean, I did need a poo grin but still.... blush

Feeling crappy right now, as there is nothing I can change. This week I stuck to 10 syns a day, and ate more superfree with my meals.

B: Banana and muller light
L: Cheese and bacon on toast with grilled mushrooms and tomatoes.
D: Veg soup (homemade syn free) packed with loads of veg.

Syns today are noodles 9.5 syns and a hi life bar which was 3 syns.

I've had some grapes and peaches.

Littlemousewithcloggson Thu 30-May-13 23:51:51

Isaac I use quark to make carbonara sauce for pasta so would imagine that the Stilton quark would be a great pasta sauce too.

Littlemousewithcloggson Thu 30-May-13 23:59:43

Detective why don't you try doing all or some original days this week for a change? I lost a lot in my second week by doing this. I seem to be able to eat anything on sw and lose weight apart from a lot of pasta and starchy veg and I think that's quite common. Might be worth a try?

TheDetective Fri 31-May-13 00:29:08

Is original meat? I don't eat much meat, just chicken really. Bit of bacon, and only one kind of ham. I'm so adventurous grin. I mainly use quorn or chicken to cook meals with.

Well, I've had breakfast (I use my healthy extras and have cereal and milk) and am now trying to think of something to have for lunch. Might have a Rice Fusion thingy and a jacket spud, or maybe try and cook some noodles again...

(Yes, I can somehow undercook plain old egg noodles... does that make me incompetent in the kitchen? grin)

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 31-May-13 13:44:27

Well done heart and mrsbells for fab losses

Detective sad but you have done so well

I'm a bit pissed off. Sts and my first week back on it but obv The wedding and cheese/bread they had to eat there and the gin I drank was too much

How can one really bad day make so much difference when been good for rest of week sad

Had a yummy chicken salad from shop earlier - lots of super free foods in it smile

laughalot Fri 31-May-13 19:42:31

1lb off this week. Blondes sad like yo ay one bad night and it shouldnt go to pot.

laughalot Fri 31-May-13 19:43:10

that should say like you say !!!

Made the most amazing chicken fillets for my dinner tonight! Paprika, all spice, onion salt, garlic, salt and pepper in a bag, pop the chicken in, shake it, then cook. Gorgeous. Used an oven proof bag so kept all the juice in. It was like those Maggi's things, but nicer because I could pick my own spices smile

Curlywurlysareyum Fri 31-May-13 21:03:09

blondes I find any week I have a night out I sts or can gain. One disadvantage for sure about this diet (well for me anyway). I feel I'm putting my life on hold til I get this weight off.

muminthecity Fri 31-May-13 21:14:30

Well done to all the losers.

Today has been my worst day so far since I started SW and I feel really shit about it sad. Stayed at a friends last night and was out all day with her and our DCs. I ate the following:

Bacon sandwich for breakfast (Streaky bacon, white bread, ketchup.)
Ham sandwich and crisps for lunch (Picnic)
Indian Takeaway for dinner (Naan bread, bahjis, korma and rice)

Snacks have included 3 blush hot doghnuts and an ice cream with flake and choc sauce at the fair.

Seeing it all written down is even more depressing. Why did I have to be such a pig today?! There's no way I'll get my 2 stone award on Tuesday now, and I was so close! sad

Littlemousewithcloggson Fri 31-May-13 21:57:32

Detective I don't eat a lot of meat either and I have to plan with original but it seems to work. I have a lot of weight to lose and am in my 40 s but have lost 1 st 3lbs in 3 weeks. I am doing 3 extra easy days ( on work days) and 4 original days a week. My consultant suggested doing this to give a fast start and has also advised people to try if they have had a couple of slow weeks.
Today I have eaten-
Fat free yoghurt, fruit and Allen light bar (heb) for breakfast.
Cheese (hea) and onion omelette with salad and ice lolly (4 syns)
Chicken wrapped in bacon with new potatoes (heb), baby corn and courgettes. Followed by pavlova made with syn free meringue, fat free yoghurt and summer fruits.
Only 4 syns for the day so room for another 11!
On original you get 2 a and 2 b choices which suits me as I drink a mountain of coffee and always use milk as an a choice!

Littlemousewithcloggson Fri 31-May-13 21:59:25

That should have read ALPEN bar btw!

SalaciousCrumb Fri 31-May-13 22:13:52

Hi all

blondes - you will lose next week, sts is still good

Well done helsbels & heart on losses

Well done laughalot

Detective I remember Blondes once said she lost 5lb after a number 2!! Could have been it, and you sound to me like you are doing really well

I am pleased that I have stuck to this since Monday and hope for a good loss on Monday when I wi. I tried my size 14 shorts on today and can't get them done up. By August when we go on holiday I hope at least to be able to wear them.

I have snacked on pasta and couscous, quite starchy but filling and has stopped me reaching for chocolate, crisps etc.

I have to work tomorrow and taking a tuna salad for lunch, planning is key.

Interestingly with this diet bread is very limited. Good thing for me as it's my downfall!

Have a good weekend all

dizzieblond Fri 31-May-13 22:26:32

Hi there,

Hope its ok for me to join. I decided to join S/W last week as my weight has just gone up and up. Im 5ft 4 and tipped the scales at 16st. My Hubby has joined me, as his weight too has rocketed, and our 1st WI last Weds morning was great, with a loss of 4.5lbs for me and 5.5lbs for himself.

Curlywurlysareyum Fri 31-May-13 22:52:58

Well done dizzie - it's a great diet you will def like it

salicious yes the bread thing hard at first - I def think that's the key to sw. I found at the beginning I craved bread something shocking!! Now I have some at weekends as my heb or syn the odd bit of nimble. But I miss crusty, baguettes etc

littlemouse that's interesting cos I've only ever done extra easy but think with every half stone loss my body slows down at losing weight. I might get my other books out and read them. A wee change sometimes not a bad thing to kick me into cacti on again.

Been struggling past few days - wanting DH and ds's sweets etc - found myself popping chocolate into my mouth earlier without noticing. Thought I'd got out of all those bad habits.

Curlywurlysareyum Fri 31-May-13 22:53:48

Cacti on - meant action !!

See, I don't REALLY miss bread. But I caught a bit of Saturday Kitchen this morning.

Hollowed out cob loaf, stuff with salad, roasted peppers, onions, courgettes and lots of other lovely stuff.

I wanted it SO badly.

Anyway...<moment over>

I just do Extra Easy, because so far, it's worked well for me, and I find the Green/Original thing a bit confusing.

I mostly snack on raspberries, blueberries, Activia 0% fat yoghurts (free) and the occasional HiFi bar.

Going to an earlier weigh in session this week as I've been invited out for a meal in the evening. Trying to get a plan in place regarding what to have but it's a bit tricky. Will ask my consultant on Wednesday I think.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Sat 01-Jun-13 12:53:46

Been half on and half off plan the last couple of days - been away. Tea was fine - fish and veg/salad, no dressing both days. Breakfast also fine. However, lunches went to pot - pasta with salsa verde and some focaccia one day, then bloody baguette with mozzarella yesterday. I did take the top off and eat it like an open sandwich though.

I wasn't going to eat desserts, but ending up snaffling the following from DH and DS - a macaroon, some unwanted ice cream, a mini churro. And I had a choc ice - 1970s kid!

So, should be working hard to get back on track. Shame it's my birthday tomorrow....

Dawndonna Sat 01-Jun-13 16:51:58

Am having a day where I can't stop putting stuff in my mouth. I think it's my new meds. I will get used to them, but this is driving me nuts!

I had an ice cream earlier, figuring it couldn't be that bad...but it was 14.5 syns confused

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 01-Jun-13 19:33:36

curly- thats how i feel, yes you can go out and have a salad or say jacket/chicken breast but sometimes if out you want a nice treat yourself meal

muminthe city - oh dear, but sounds like you had a good day and tbh if 1st bad day since starting sw then you have done well

sal crumb - indeed i did grin thats my claim to fame pmsl

dizzy - welcome

b weeatbix (b) milk (a) and fruit
l chicken and new pots and salad and coleslaw (4)
t onion omlette and salad

My hairdresser (who I see every 6 weeks or so) came today. As she was leaving she looked at me and said, "You've lost some weight. You look good."

This was (and still is) me ----> grin

Other people are noticing. This can only be a good thing.

Dawndonna Sat 01-Jun-13 22:08:57

Does anyone know how may syns are in plain popcorn, as in the stuff you do in a hot pan at home?
Thank you, I'm hoping it'll help get me through the next time I have a bad day!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Sun 02-Jun-13 09:16:46

No idea, Dawn - I suppose it depends on if you use any fat.

I got some gorgeous stuff in London - Skinny Topcorn, which was about 5 Syns for a biggish bag. Can't find it up north yet.

I guess if you used Fry Light to stop it sticking, it'd be free? I'll have a look around online and see if I can find out.

TheDetective Sun 02-Jun-13 14:36:27

Help! DS who is 11 is eating the same meals we are for dinner. He's lost weight too, 7lb in 4 1/2 weeks. He was already very slim, he's very tall and skinny. So I don't want/he doesn't need to lose weight.

He isn't eating the same thing as us every night, probably 4/5 nights a week he will.

So what should I do? I don't want to cook separately if I can help it, occasionally I do, but I'm not up for doing it every night!

Would it be worth talking to my consultant?

DS is 5ft 1, and 6st 5, he was 6st 12 a few weeks ago.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Sun 02-Jun-13 15:40:12

Give him extra bread and butter with his meal?

Dawndonna Sun 02-Jun-13 18:50:04

That sounds lovely!
Have had a more sensible day today, been eating half the day again, but have stuck to chicken and prawns for nibbling.

TheDetective Sun 02-Jun-13 19:13:11

I chucked out the butter, and the butter dish!! D'oh! Thought it was too much temptation?!

I was thinking extra cheese when we have cheesy meals. Extra snacks inbetween meals. Full fat yoghurts too.

Any other ideas?

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 02-Jun-13 20:09:30

i have heard this can be a problem with sw and kids, ie all eating same meals

some consults say to add B&B bread and butter as bread seems to be the worst thing on sw

some say make sure have full fat cheese and yogs

others say to add extra carbs like pasta, pots

you dont want to stuff them with junk sad

androbbob Sun 02-Jun-13 20:32:19

Evening! Back from my little break at Center Parcs, which was great, even taking into account the weather! We had two bbq's and I had taken the burgers and sausages as I knew where they were from and the syn value. Didnt stick to plan very well, but kept away from the carbs. Did loads of walking around.

Fully expecting a gain tomorrow at WI as I have realistically been off plan for nearly 2 weeks!

Good to see some new recruits!

Daisy1407 Sun 02-Jun-13 20:55:34

I've just sat here for hours and read through these posts! What amazing stories!
I joined SW last Monday with my mum we both want to lose about 1 stone I have to say that all I've felt I've done is eat (which is fab) I have been really good having an average of about 10 syns a day - apart from last night when I drank too much booze!

My first weigh in is 2mo 7pm - bring it on!
So many amazing losses on this diet!

Today I've had
2 hovis bread with cheese spread and ham sarnie, fruit, mullerlight, chicken in piri piri sauce (in a bag), SW chips, and a yummy crunchie

I'm satisfied x

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 02-Jun-13 21:02:28

Daisy - welcome

Androb - glad you had fun and hope tomorrow wi isn't too bad

B fruit
L mugshot and fruit
T roast dinner and free veg- trying to work out syns for

4 small roasties in oil - were lush smile
2 med yorkies
Dollop of butter in carrot and swede mash (3)

Curlywurlysareyum Sun 02-Jun-13 21:08:47

detective my kids get bread like crusty and naan (that I then have to resist). Or they have cheese. And yes normal yoghurts as u said. I understand though what u mean - and I'm sure u don't want to fill him with junk. It's a hard one.

daisy u sound motivated! This diet s great - first time I ever felt full and have kept at it. Keep us posted!!

I must admit though this week been stressed with huge amount of work on and will be lucky to sts at weigh in on tues. going to try eating two thirds super free tomorrow and tues (success express). Haven't tred it yet but quite a few girls in class talk about it. Need something To kick me into action!!

muminthecity Sun 02-Jun-13 21:32:58

Thanks Blondes, I am feeling a bit better about it today.

I went out for lunch for a friend's birthday today at a nice pub and managed to resist the burgers/chips/pizzas that everyone else had and just had a jacket potato with beans and salad. Was very proud of my restraint! grin

Unfortunately I also had 2 glasses of Pimms which I have since discovered is 4.5 syns per glass! Oops!

beanandspud Sun 02-Jun-13 22:24:40

Evening all!

I'm back on the SW plan as just looked at the calendar and realised that I am only 10 weeks away from my holiday.

Have had a fairly, ahem, 'relaxed' couple of weeks with rather too mich wine, pizza, bread and chocolate but despite everything I had lost 2lb this morning so a grand total of 1.5 stones which isn't going to win me any awards but still feels pretty good.

So, I am sitting here with a G&T (slimline!) and going back through my magazines and recipe books ready to get back in earnest tomorrow.

Good to see lots of newbies, I will try and go back and work out who everyone is!

SalaciousCrumb Mon 03-Jun-13 07:07:24

Morning all

My first wi, I lost 2lb. Should have done better but had a few lapses over the weekend. But it's a start and I am hoping for a good week.

The lapses involved bread and oily olives blush

I wonder why bread is cut down on slimmers world when pasta is free food? Both are wheaty.

Huffpot Mon 03-Jun-13 08:27:59

Well done impressed you lost
And congrats on your loss as well salacious

I really should meal plan but for some reason I find it very difficult sad

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 03-Jun-13 08:58:11

Bean. That's fab esp as you weren't dieting

Sal - still want to all you trimmer lol - 2lb loss is good. I managed nothing sad

B fruit

Doing a temp job this week so haven't a clue what will be in her fridge

Hoping for salad for lunch

BlueGoddess Mon 03-Jun-13 10:38:42

Morning everyone - I thought I'd better introduce myself, even if it is a bit late!

I joined Slimming World in November last year and have lost 3 stone, with only 3lb to go until target. This last 3lb is very elusive though!

I've been on holiday last week, and am dreading my weigh in on Wednesday - loads of good stuff planned for the few days before though, so will hopefully minimise the damage done by the puddings and candy floss machine....

I've had my usual cereal and milk for breakfast (all weighed and measured) and am debating lunch.

Got salmon and SW chips for dinner tonight, so that's sorted. I've had a really good week this week, going ice skating tomorrow then for lunch at my usual pub/restaurant place. Will be very restrained and probably have a jacket with beans or tuna. They do an amazing pulled pork burger but last time I indulged in that I had a gain so will give it a miss as I've been chasing my 1 stone award for weeks!

Then out for dinner with friends on Wednesday (hopefully after attending my usual evening group - want my friends to be there if I do get my 1 stone award, but if I'm being picked up too early will go to morning group) and have some ideas of what I can have there too. I am so motivated right now it's crazy!

BethAndHerBrood Mon 03-Jun-13 12:42:30

Hi, can i join in? Been lurking for a while, been doing sw for a while. I don't go to a sw class ( fell out big time with the cons) but am going to a weigh in group at my local sure start centre. Which is fine, but doesn't seem to hold the power like a sw weigh in did!

But i am losing, slowly, but have had a week off, lots of lovely grub, so will have put some on this week.

beanandspud Mon 03-Jun-13 13:04:38

<<waves at Blondes>> Did you have a good holiday?

Welcome to Blue and Beth. We've been on this thread since January and many of us are doing it without a group so you're in good company.

Salacious 2lb is a great first week loss grin. I've often wondered why pasta/potatoes/rice are unlimited but bread isn't. I assume that it's down to the fact that it is too easy to eat large quantities of bread and you're probably less likely to have 1/3 superfree with a bread-based meal.

Good day today:

B - Fruit and yogurt
L - Ryvita (HeB) with f/f cottage cheese and salmon. Salad on the side.
D - Rice with slow cooked veggie chilli.

Have plenty of fruit lined up for snacks.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 03-Jun-13 14:08:55

Blue goddess. Well done for sticking to it and losing weight. They say the losing is easy - it's the keeping off that's hard

10years ago I lost 4st on ww and sadly put 99% of it back on over the years - had a rough time 2yrs ago and lost it but then gained again

Lollipop - I do have a&b sometimes for breakie but then end up having a meal that has b again - grrrr

Maybe have weetabix and skim Tom with banana

Are you having anything else with salmon and sw chips?

Hope you get your stone award

Beth - welcome - why did you fall out with cons 'nosey expression'

Bean - fab holiday thanks but gained 5lbs sad

I've wondered about bread as well

Weird you can eat other cards freely but not bread as tbh having 2 800g of bread via a sandwich and fruit is an average lunch for me before sw

I avoid bread and sandwiches if I can now sad

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 03-Jun-13 14:10:19

Ps mb was lovely and went shopping and got me lots of salad stuff - ham - chicken - eggs and lots of fruit

so been very good so far and had a chicken salad and apple and pear

Huffpot Mon 03-Jun-13 15:00:43

Welcome new people smile

My theory is bread is that it has sugar in it...I'm think thats it anyhow grin

onceipopicantstop Mon 03-Jun-13 18:16:05

If yo-yo dieting was an Olympic sport I'd have a gold medal I think!!
Had a great first couple of weeks and lost 6lbs then socialising has got in the way. First a night away with dh when much alcohol and unhealthy food was consumed, then failed to get back on the wagon for the rest of the week blush. And now have had a weekend visiting friends and have mainly eaten cake and drunk wine!! So have 3 days until WI - missed WI last week - and am dreading it as I'm worried seeing a massive gain will just make me go off plan again (from experience!!). I have 3 weeks until we go on holiday so would love to lose a bit before then.

But today has been good so far - trying a green day:
B/f: 2 weetabix with skimmed milk (hea and b)
lunch: pasta with tuna (heb), sweetcorn and fromage frais
tea will be cheese (hea) omelette and sw chips with baked beans

snacks - 2

Lollyheart Mon 03-Jun-13 18:32:09

Omg Pepsi max chicken is delicious smile

3girls1madboy Mon 03-Jun-13 18:38:47

Hello new peeps...grin

1 and a half on today sad....feeling very deflated, so I've ordered the 30 day shred DVD!!!

DH has told me off for feeling bad about gain, as I've done so well, but I know where I've gone wrong. So 3girls plan this week is to be good, and stick to 10 more Pimms smile

Dawndonna Mon 03-Jun-13 18:44:15

A not unexpected 2lb gain tonight. But back on track first thing in the morning. Been out and got everything ready.

TheDetective Mon 03-Jun-13 19:16:18

Anyone else find they are spending an absolute fortune on food?

My shopping bills have rocketed from £100-120 a week to £160 easily. We are spending about £50 on fruit and veg alone - possibly more. £40 on meat. And then the rest of the things we need, eggs, bread, milk, stuff for syns etc.

Oh well. As long as the weight comes off, right?! <Gulp>

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 03-Jun-13 20:02:23

Huff. You could be right

Onceipop - me too sad I've lost and gained the same 9lbs twice now sad

Lolly - it is isn't it. One of my fav meals

3girls and dawn - gains happen - hopefully next week you will both lose smile

Detective - same here - healthy eating is expensive - fruit and veg from shops even lidl add up - let alone meat which tbh is essential on ee sw

- people say can shop for £40 and feed a family of four - it's cheap to eat from say Iceland meals for £1 and £2 but many are high in fat and not sw friendly

BlueGoddess Mon 03-Jun-13 20:12:08

When I am feeling low I look at my pebble jars - I have two jars, one with a pebble in it for every 1lb loss and the other a pebble for every 1lb to go. It helps me focus on how far I've come grin

One of the other ladies has all her certificates up on the wall in her kitchen.

BlueGoddess Mon 03-Jun-13 20:13:40

For those spending a lot on groceries, have you tried the local market stores? Once I became a regular face the prices dropped wink

EggsMichelle Mon 03-Jun-13 20:22:59

Hi, I started sw 6wks ago, lost 10lb so far, another stone til target. So far iv just about got my head around EE, not going to attempt green or original I'm too confused!

My goal is to regain pre baby weight by October (big family gathering) then maybe goal for fitting back into my wedding dress (just cause it sounds like a fun goal!)

Hoping to gain lots of hints and tips from you and motivation to not write a whole week off after too much chocolate!

Ooops, I lapsed badly today. Out in the heat with a friend, 2 bottles of fizzy drink and 2 scoops of ice cream...

However, the rest of the week, I've barely used any syns, so hopefully it will all balance out come Wednesday.

EggsMichelle Mon 03-Jun-13 20:25:31

Bluegoddess I love the pebble jar idea, I go through that many jars of gherkins I should be able to do that. And I have my certificate on my fridge!

BlueGoddess Mon 03-Jun-13 20:50:07

My pebble jar is on the hearth so I see it every day smile

I was once told a little thing by one of the long term members - your partner gives you a bunch of roses and one dies. What do you do - throw them all alway or throw just one away and enjoy the rest? Think of your week in the same terms

androbbob Mon 03-Jun-13 21:07:55

As expected a 2lb gain! Oops! I am as bad as blondes and would also be a good competitor against pop for the yoyo diet Olympic Gold Medal! It will change this year though. I am determined to crack this one and for all, if it takes me until Christmas.

Frozen pineapple in freezer for tomorrow - supposed to be like sweets.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 03-Jun-13 21:11:18

Lol. Join my yoyo gang smile

Frozen pineapple???

Had prawn chilli linguine for dinner

Yummy smile

HeartOfDixie Mon 03-Jun-13 21:34:56

I'm so cross with myself, completely went off plan all weekend. Remind me of the good reasons we want to loose weight so I can get back on plan? Loving the stones idea too!

muminthecity Mon 03-Jun-13 21:54:52

I am cooking pepsi max chicken at the moment, planning to have it for dinner tomorrow (I'm working a long shift then have weigh-in tomorrow so won't have time to cook!) I can't wait to taste it, it smells great so far!

Also made a batch of tuna and sweetcorn fritters, from my EE cookbook today. They are delicious and free! I had 3 for lunch with salad, green beans and a hard boiled egg. DD had them for tea, I put hers in a burger bun with salad and mayo, served with vegetable crudites. She loved her 'fish burger' and is already asking when I'm going to make them again.

muminthecity Mon 03-Jun-13 21:56:37

HeartOfDixie - We all have bad weekends, well I certainly do! But when I look at how far I've come, how much I've lost and how much SW has completely taken over my life, I realise that there's no way I can give up. I have too much invested in it to stop now!

Thank you to those who gave the pepsi chicken recipe, had it last night with a huge green salad and it was amazing.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 04-Jun-13 11:20:56

Love Pepsi max chicken

Having that tonight

What's the recipe for tuna fritters. Sure I made them ages ago and were yummy

B weetabix and milk and plums - a+b
L egg salad and banana
T diet coke chicken tho with Pepsi max

Hi all, just checking in, haven't had a chance to read back yet but will dosmile After doing great for 4 days, true to form I regressed for the next 4 days, bank holiday weekend here, too much vino which led to much bad food. Back on track this morning, weighing in either this evening or tomorrow evening... don't expect to see any loss sad

Huffpot Tue 04-Jun-13 12:26:40

That chicken is so delicious!

WI tomorrow and although I haven't been bad am kind of dreading it as I am just feeling fat well fatter if that makes sense?

I may buy a battery for my scales this afternoon and weigh myself tomorrow morning to get an idea of what direction its gone in

Off for an afternoon in the park today with the little ones

B: ryvitas with ham, tomato and philly
L: Baked bean curry with rice
D: Chicken drumsticks with salad and SW chips...have cooked them already so will be a nice cool dinner after a warm day

BadRoly Tue 04-Jun-13 13:33:17

Afternoon smile

Sorry I have been MIA for so long. Kind of lost my mojo a bit. Anyway, that is past and I am here again, mainly for advice...

Has anyone made it using the website recipe that uses natural yogurt and eggs instead of white sauce? Or can recommend another alternative for the white sauce please and thank you!

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 04-Jun-13 14:14:56

I often make lasagne but I don't use quark -yog - eggs - cottage cheese etc - it's rank and not a yummy sauce

The best way I've found is to use syns and I use a cheese sauce mix - most are around 8syns or less so if make enough for 4 it's 2 syns per portion

I use the milk as my a - or you could syn it if already had a

BadRoly Tue 04-Jun-13 14:27:05

Thanks Blondes, I wondered if they would be nice and whether just to use my (unused so far today) heA. I'll do that then I think. But from scratch now as I CBA to go out and get a cheese sauce mix blush Would you maybe put the blue cow triangles in to make it a bit cheesier? The low blue cheese ones? They all rave about them at the SW meetings I go to!

How a you doing anyway and how was the holiday? grin

Lollyheart Tue 04-Jun-13 17:34:07

Hi all, wi in the morning.

Been a good week apart from Saturday night I went to a party and had two cakes blush I'm really craving cake and I'm not really a cake person.

Just on the scales this morning and need half a pound for my 1st half stone. Hoping I've done that today .

B muller light with an orange
L a mug shot and a bananna
T boiled egg salad

EggsMichelle Tue 04-Jun-13 19:55:04

Iv tried the SW lasagne and it was gross! The mix turned into scrambled egg and omlet layers!

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 04-Jun-13 21:02:14

Exactly eggs - oh wasn't impressed to have scrambled eggs in his lasagne

Dawndonna Tue 04-Jun-13 21:31:57

I'm going to do the pebble jar thing, I think it's a great idea.

Whoever mentioned the frozen pineapple, it's fabulous and apart from last week, it's an amazing 'go to' for a quick sweet hit.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Tue 04-Jun-13 21:32:27

Mmm - has anyone tried the LowLow Mature Cheddar Spread? 60g for a HE, and it is gorgeous. Would work as a sauce too, I think, if you heated it a bit.

tigerdriverII Tue 04-Jun-13 22:08:27

Hello all. Can I sneak back? I have been SWing but haven't done much posting....

Started SW in late Sept. I've now lost 2 Stone 3 lbs, and have 2 stone 4 lbs to target. So I am a tortoise not a hare. Just come back from a weeks hols and delighted to have lost a pound (lots of pasta and beer!!). Even better, I had to buy a dress while away ( thank you, Lufthansa for losing my luggage!) and I ended up with a smaller size than I thought : result!

I eat out quite a lot, for work and because we are often away, so if anyone wants any tips, happy to share.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 04-Jun-13 22:11:35

Welcome back tiger - fantastic loss so far. Well done

As losing weight after holiday envy

onceipopicantstop Tue 04-Jun-13 22:17:01

Hi all have had a good day again today and feeling back in the zone.

B - frozen fruit (defrosted), porridge made with water (HEB), fromage frais and drizzle of golden syrup
L - salad, new pots, ham
T - jacket pot, salmon fillet and veg
snacks - apple, cherries, 2 yoghurts

By the way - sorry if TMI - is anyone finding they're more constipated since starting SW? I can't understand it as eating really healthily (obviously) and having tons of fruit and veg etc. Can eggs be a cause as definitely eating more of those?!

muminthecity Tue 04-Jun-13 22:24:13

Well I had a shock at WI tonight, actually managed a loss! Only 1.5lb but still, any loss is good! Also got Slimmer of the Month for May so feeling pretty good now grin.

Blondes - The tuna fritters are really easy. Empty a tin of tuna and a tin of sweetcorn into a bowl. Par-boil 4 potatoes, peel and then grate into the bowl. Add some chopped chives, parsley and coriander, season, and add a beaten egg. Mix together with your hands and form into little patties. Spray with fry-light and cook in the oven at 190 for about 20 minutes. I cooked them for a bit longer than that though, as I prefer them a bit crispy.

tigerdriverII Tue 04-Jun-13 22:32:48

once, maybe drink a bit more? I did have this at the beginning and def had one bad WI where I'm sure another lb should have come off..,,I don't drink much water but I drink lots of redbush tea and I think it helps.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 04-Jun-13 22:55:50

Muminthecity / thank you. So basically a tuna fish cake then grin I should make fish cakes more often as love salmon and tuna and obv potato onion and carrot etc are all free

Once / I'm the other way round. Tmi but was a every other day girl but now every day

izzybizzybuzzybees Tue 04-Jun-13 23:24:24

Popping back in. Maintained today. I bought a twelve week pass, the 100 extra easy days book and the magazine. I will get a free little book of lunches too for buying the pass so that's good ad well.

Been a bit naughty today as had pizza for tea but will be extra good to make up for it!

BlueGoddess Wed 05-Jun-13 07:55:17

Those tuna fritters sound lovely - will give those a go, definitely.

Fingers crossed for WI today - I'll be happy with a maintain.

Huffpot Wed 05-Jun-13 08:52:31

I'd be happy to stay the same too - I'm getting yet another period so am now dreading weigh in!

Daisy1407 Wed 05-Jun-13 10:13:54

HI all
I had my 1st weigh in on Monday evening and lost 6.5lb i was shocked as i feel i have eaten so much food - really pleased!
Love reading all the success stories, love this forum!

Hope everyone is having a good week
Im out for food on friday and currently on the EE plan, should i try and get a tomato based pasta or a steak jacket potato or something?

BadRoly Wed 05-Jun-13 11:15:29

higgle Wed 05-Jun-13 11:15:34

Hello all - I have been going to SW since Mid March and have lost just over 1 1/2 stone, 2 1/2 to go. My weight loss has been a stead 1 to 2 lb a week. I've noticed that some of the others in the group who have had big losses in the first few weeks seem despondent when it all slows down or stops for a while, so hopefully slow and steady is the best way to go. I've found it much easier to modify my existing recipes to be SW friendly than use the ones in the magazine. As 2 veggies one who only easts chicken and fish and with DH being coeliac cooking for all us is difficult enough to begin with. I did get the little book of sauces last week which has some nice ideas.

My leader is good but the group is large and she always has new people to sign up which tends to delay the start of meetings a bit, and I do find it very boring after a while listening to all of the group detailing their losses and gains and reasons. I try to stay every week because you do learn from the others present - and there are quite a lot at target, which is inspirational.

BadRoly Wed 05-Jun-13 11:16:02

Oh and of course well done Daisy! grin

BadRoly Wed 05-Jun-13 11:16:50

Ah and hello Higgle smile

TheDetective Wed 05-Jun-13 11:37:57

Today I found out that if you cook fruit it is syns. Gutted! Was going to put some puree apple and cinnamon in my porridge! Settled for just the cinnamon grin and also made it with hazelnut milk.

I've done a food diary this week, and it looks really excessive. My consultant queried if I was eating enough because I had said that I was sticking to it 100% all the time, and yet I hadn't lost the 'guaranteed 2lb a week'. Apart from my inital 2 big losses, I have lost 1.5lb, lost 2lb, gained 1lb. And judging by my scales this week, I will have lost 1.5-2lb (if I am very lucky - WI tomorrow). So that will be 5-5.5lb lost in 4 weeks. I should be losing more.

I am relatively sedentary at the moment due to being on maternity leave, and post birth problems. I am walking more, but I know it isn't enough. I feel I am eating too much for the amount of exercise I am doing.

Have considered trying WW as as far as I can tell they take your levels of activity in to account?

Am I just being silly?

higgle Wed 05-Jun-13 12:12:46

I think with SW you just have to accept their sometimes odd way of looking at things and accept them. I must admit that when I read that if I mashed my banana onto my dry toast the banana had to be synd but not if I just ate them together I decided to ignore that bit of nonsense.
The whole package just seems to work, and work better than anything else I've tried, so I'll be sticking with it.

Lollyheart Wed 05-Jun-13 13:08:38

3lb off this week, yay, so 7 and a half in two weeks smile.

Well done to all of the losers.

3lb off for me today, getting my much coveted 1 stone award and Slimmer of the Week smile

Very, very happy. I'm off out for a meal with friends tonight, and intend to dress to impress as some of them haven't seen me since before I started losing smile

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 05-Jun-13 15:26:11

Izzy. Well done for sts

Blueg& huff - hope wi was nice to you

Daisy - fab loss

Roly - well done sts

Detective - not everyone loses 2lbs a week - I'm a lb a week girl generally - unless been really bad or really good smile

So 5.5lbs in 4 weeks is fine

Think of it as a lb a week = 4stone in a year

Well done both lolly and lolli

B weetabix skim and banana - a+b
L tuna and new potato salad - pear
T burger 6.5 cabbage and carrot@swede mash

Feellikewonderwoman30 Wed 05-Jun-13 16:50:40

Hi all, I'm new to this lark but wow how handy is this I love it! Anyway I have also joined sw this week after having another baby number 3, 11 days ago I'm so eager to loose all the extra pounds I can't bear to look at myself so hope no one minds me joining in here? Xx

BethAndHerBrood Wed 05-Jun-13 17:59:24

Hi all. I've got my weigh in tomorrow morning. I've been dithering as to wether to go or not, but have decided to bite the bullet and go and see what the damage is! Then at least i know where i'm starting from. Again.

Dh is going away on saturday for 3 weeks, and i must admit i find it easier to stick to when he's away. I'm hoping to lose enough while he's away, that he can see a difference when he gets back. Too optimistic?

I am definately going to try the pepsi max chicken, although will use quorn chicken chunks, or whatever they're called. And the tuna fishcakes sound yum, trying those too.

My trouble is i'm just plain greedy sad blush

Daisy1407 Wed 05-Jun-13 18:01:34

What's the frozen pineapple all about? Sounds yummy x

Huffpot Wed 05-Jun-13 20:34:44

1lb off smile
Someone brought in fresh pineapple with chilli and a sprinkle of salt on it - definitely different but really really good

OctopusWrangler Wed 05-Jun-13 20:59:04

Room for another?

I joined up on The 3rd of May and have lost 16.5lb so far. Meetings are on Fridays. I'm doing ok but I have a hell of a lot to losesmile

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 05-Jun-13 21:15:48

Wonder Woman - welcome and congrats to no 3 - take things easy and don't over do it

Beth - def get weighed or you are only cheating yourself and yes easier when oh/dh is not here

Huff well done

Daisy - meant to be like frozen sweets but haven't tried

Octopus - welcome and envy at your fantastic loss esp in a month

OctopusWrangler Wed 05-Jun-13 21:35:24

Blondes, it's a drop in the ocean I assure you! I'm currently surfing at just under 21st and my prelim target is 14. I just want a manky pizza. I've promised myself we'll get one for my birthday at the end of summer. I've not put it in the calendar yet but I was temptedgrin

Curlywurlysareyum Wed 05-Jun-13 21:42:22

Haven't been on for a few days and just taken me ages to read all the new posts !! We will be on thread 4 blondes before we know it!!

I put on 2. Got my 1 and a half stone award, club 10 and runner up slimmer of the month all from last week as I hadn't stayed for class. Felt wick then that I put on 2 and didn't deserve the certificates!! Oh well, I've nearly 2 and a half off overall so need to look at the big picture.

Everyone I meet keeps commenting on how I look which is so motivating ... But ... I can't seem to stop wanting to eat!! I've been so strong and had willpower for weeks and this past week I could eat everything in sight!! I need to wise up and reading all your posts inspired me tonight to get stuck in again. Holiday won't be long coming round.

Detective I lost my first stone with ww. It's good and will work but I have to say I love sw much more. It makes u feel much fuller and def works by 'eating yourself slim'

TheDetective Wed 05-Jun-13 22:08:20

Can I just run my food diary past people on here? I just find it hard to believe I am not eating too much. confused

B: 35g porridge, 120ml hazelnut milk.
L: 5 egg omelette with 1 whole yellow pepper, 9 cherry tomatoes, and 6 mushrooms as a filling.
Snacked in the afternoon on 1 pink n white (2.5 syns), and a pear.
D: 1 chicken breast, 8 roast potatoes (done in frylight), large serving spoon full of carrot and swede (with extra light marge - 3 syns) green beans, baby corn, cabbage and 200ml vege gravy (3 syns).
Since then I have had a kit kat (5.5 syns) and a bowl of sugar free jelly (1.5 syns, but I had 2/3 of it for 1 syn).

B: 2 fried eggs, 2 400g slices of wholemeal bread, 2 grilled tomatoes, 10 grilled mushrooms.
L: Batchelors super low fat noodles, banana.
Snacked on a kit kat (5.5 syns).
D: It was a BBQ - I had 3 low fat quorn sausages (free), 1 chicken breast covered in cajun spices, 5 kebab sticks which was chicken, peppers, mushroom, courgette, tomato, onion. Tried a little pork (made me feel ill!). Salad with balsamic vinegar. I also had 2 crisps out of a bag of walkers, a tiny bite of rocky road cake (so as not to be rude!) and a tiny sip of a barcadi breezer thrust up on me. I reckoned those to be 3 syns.
After I got home I had another kit kat!

So, any opinions?

Curlywurlysareyum Wed 05-Jun-13 22:32:11

detective my first thought is are you eating one third super free?? There seems to be a lot of meat in ur dinner compared to veg?!?

TheDetective Wed 05-Jun-13 22:47:47

Looking at my plate - I would say there is more than 1/3 superfree to be honest. My plate is usually piled high with veg. I'd say it is about half and half, except when we have pasta - usually that is with a tomato based sauce, and I have grilled peppers on the side.

Eg, the veg with tea was 2 serving spoons of cabbage, 6 baby corns, approx 15 green beans, and 2 big serving spoons of the carrot and swede.

The day before looked like this: (I've done a diary all week!)

B: Apple, banana, cherries, muller light (vanilla)
L: 2x 400g wholemeal bread, 4 soft boiled eggs, 4 grilled tomatoes.
D: Arrabiatta sauce made from passata, chillis, onion, garlic (all superfree) and pasta. Grilled peppers to go with it.
Snacks of chicken skewers, cucumber & carrot sticks and salsa, syn free pancakes after dinner. Other syns were 2 kit kats blush again.

It just seems a lot. And actually, this is less than I was eating at the start, my portion sizes are smaller, but still big when I think about it, and read what others are having here. confused

Curlywurlysareyum Wed 05-Jun-13 23:03:18

Detective It def sounds like u r sticking to plan 100%

Only thing I can say is I lost my 1 and a half stone in 14 weeks which averages 1.5lbs per week. Maybe u r going to lose smaller amounts like me (I'm def a tortoise). As blondes says over a year that's a lot of weight!

I like free soups for lunch too - I think the weeks I had it mostly for lunch I got 2.5 or 3 off that week

higgle Wed 05-Jun-13 23:08:29

Lost another 1.5 lb this week, so 22.5 down and 32.5 to go , to be 8st 12 ( I'm only 5'3"). I sometimes feel a bit of illogical jealousy for teh new people who lose 5 or 6lb in their first few weeks. I know this is because they weigh a lot more than me to begin with but it would be so nice to have big losses and not all this fiddling one or two pounds.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 05-Jun-13 23:16:36

Octopus - and you will deserve every slice of that pizza

Curly - our threads will live on - sad at gain but yay for 1.5stone loss

Detective - written down it does seem a lot - sw does say eat till you are full - and no reason to be hungry

Maybe I'm Not eating enough but I eat till I'm
Full / your menu and portions I couldn't manage

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 05-Jun-13 23:17:28

Well done higgle

TheDetective Wed 05-Jun-13 23:30:28

I'd also point out that I am sedentary really. Odd bit of walking. Not much.

It's too much isn't it? sad

beanandspud Wed 05-Jun-13 23:54:19

<<waves at Badroly and Tiger>>

Have been away for a couple of days but managed to be pretty good apart from some wine and a couple of handfuls of crisps.

Will definitely try the tuna fritters - they sound fab.

beanandspud Thu 06-Jun-13 00:09:19

TheDetective I don't really have an answer but written down it does seem like fairly large portions. Could you try reducing some of the quantities and replacing with s/f? So, have fewer eggs in the omelette but add some more veg/fruit? Replace a couple of potatoes with veg?

Other thoughts, if you are on maternity leave it could be that your body is naturally taking a bit of time to adjust - don't know how old your LO is but it's possible that your body is clinging on to a bit of baby weight and may do for the first year or so?

Also, having the full 15 syns every day is fine but it doesn't leave you anywhere to go if you have accidentally miscalculated portion sizes or forgotten to record something. Could you try having 10 syns a day and see whether that makes a dfference?

IsaacCox Thu 06-Jun-13 06:59:17

Hi all I'm back from York with a 2lb gain shock so now my total is only 3lb! I have Tesco delivering all my sw food today (also, whoever it was that said sw is expensive was right. We now seem to spend around £120/130 a week for just the 2 of us!)

I do the pebbles in a jar thing too but with 1p's instead. Plus I do it for syns. One jar has 105 pennies in at the start of my sw week and then when I have syns I put the pennies into the other jar. These are also on my hearth so I can see them everyday. I find it helps to see how much I've used/got left.

I dh bought myself a bag whilst we were away and I said I can only have it once I've lost a stone! I love it so hopefully it won't be too long until I can use it smile

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 06-Jun-13 08:02:01

Isaac - least only a 2lb gain - I gained 5lbs away on holiday

But been soooooo good this week I'm
Hoping for 2lbs loss tomorrow instead of my usual 1lb

Detective - if I have an omelette I make with 3 eggs - and 8 roasties sound a lot - sorry don't mean to criticise - but you do seem to balance it out with veg

Agree also to try eating 10syns so have back up incase go over

Right off to work I go - tummy full of weetabix and banana

I used to say I struggle with eating a and b but had both most days this week so hopefully will lose tomorrow smile

BlueGoddess Thu 06-Jun-13 09:29:43

I'm happy with weigh in last night - I lost 1/2lb. It's only a little, but better than the gain I thought I may have with the treats I had on holiday! 2 1/2lb to go to target.....

TheDetective Thu 06-Jun-13 09:59:32

Bean I have tried to reduce portion size but then end up snacking more? It's a vicious circle. confused Also last week I upped my super free, and reduced my syns to 10 a day (like you said blonde) and had my first gain, of 1lb!!!

At class last week my consultant said (because I couldn't understand why I had gained) to go back to what I was doing before and to have my 15 syns a day. I've done a food diary as she asked so I'll pin her to the wall to get answers! ask her later.

Hopefully 2lb off when I WI tonight.

Oh forgot to add - baby weight - I have none! I didn't gain anything in pregnancy. Not a single pound. I was the same weight before during and straight away after. My 6 week check I was still the same weight. Then at some point between then and 15 weeks I put on 1st 10 shock confused.

My body is really odd.

BethAndHerBrood Thu 06-Jun-13 12:13:48

I am very glad i went to WI, i lost 3/4 lb! Woohoo! So that makes it 10 1/4 lbs in 9 weeks. Which actually, is not bad. Considering.

I've decided we are all having our tea together tonight, which doesn't happen very often during the week. So we are having pasta quiche, sw chips and beans. All free, and the kids love it too. And i only have to cook once. [lazy bitch emoticon]

onceipopicantstop Thu 06-Jun-13 12:43:12

Well its d-day for me, on the countdown to WI at 730!!! How likely is it that 4 days of being very very good will have cancelled out 2 weeks of being very very bad??! Am hoping I won't have regained all 6lbs as that would be very disheartening!

Good today so far though!
B - Muller light greek style x2 (1syn)
Snack - bowl of cherries, grapes and a satsuma
L - ham, houmous (HeB), pepper, carrot sticks, cherry toms and cucumber

Planning spicy chicken breasts with sw chips and salad for tea - after weigh-in!!
Hope everyone is having a good day! smile

MrsGrumps Thu 06-Jun-13 13:36:03

Would you lovely ladies allow me to join you, albeit infrequenlty?

I've been sort of following the SW diet of 15 years ago and only ever do the then Green plan. I've lost 3.5st so far but am struggling to stay commited to it now the weather is so lovely.

Last night, I had Pizza take-away followed by Ben N Jerrys and am feeling very guilty for it sad

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 06-Jun-13 13:55:01

BG - well done you are almost there

Detective - weird - agree go back to what you were doing - it seemed to work for you

Beth - well done for going - think I need to get some posher scales that weigh in 1/4lbs - mine only weigh in lbs - so maybe some weeks I actually lose 1/2lb but as scales don't change seems I sts

Once - hmm 5 days of being good didnt cancel out my one day of being bad gin - bread - chesse - fried breakie last weekend at a wedding

Good luck smile

Mrsgrumps - welcome smile

B weetabix (b) and skim (a) and banana
L ham salad and tbsp mayo (2)
T pasta and veg

S boiled eggs and pear

Daisy1407 Thu 06-Jun-13 15:41:58

HI all

Detective your meals sound very much like mine - i feel like im eating loads!

Im finishing work tonight and going for tea around my mothers - Meatball pasta (each meatball 1.5syn) i just know the sun will be out and im gonna want some alchohol - this weather just makes me wanna drink! GRRRRRR

im also out 2mo so drinking will be happening then!

its tough this trying to be good lark!

Howly Thu 06-Jun-13 17:47:46

Hello lovely SWers

Like others been lurking for a bit and now plucked up the courage to join in.

I'm a bit of an old hand at SW having originally lost 3st 3lb at the age of 18 (8 years ago) stopped going whilst at uni, put a stone back on but got back on the plan february last year before my wedding and been sort of sticking to it since! I'm 4lb off my comfortable target weight but would like to lost 11lb to be super slim for my hols in August.
Recently been losing focus and finding it difficult to shift, I keep putting it down to the fact I don't have much to lose but I think I am doing a little secret eating!!

I'm getting bored of eating the same things as i'm too busy too lazy to make something else, even my work colleagues take the p**S out of my dry salad leaves! I try to last the whole working without synning at all but then blow out at weekends!

So looking for some inspiration and I hope my knowledge can be of some use!

Lollyheart Thu 06-Jun-13 18:11:56

Hi all. Welcome to the newbies grin

Not a great day today

Ate over my syns in Pringles, just couldn't resist .
Ill be extra good all week now.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards Thu 06-Jun-13 18:14:28

Got my 1 Stone award last night. It has taken 7 weeks - very chuffed.

Having to force myself not to undo all the good work after a fucking shocker of a day though.

Huffpot Thu 06-Jun-13 20:34:20

Welcome to all newbies (am on phone as usual so hard to name check!
Well done bunch!

B: 4 ryvita with light philly, ham and tomato and banana
L: Mushrooms, 2 eggs, baked beans and wedges
D: Steak, asparagus, carrots, corn on the cob and mash with onion

TheDetective Thu 06-Jun-13 20:35:42

Got my 2lb off phew.

Consultant said what I was having was fine. confused

I'm going to try and reduce it a little. Also she wants us to eat 10 super free foods a day. And 2 super speed foods.

It's not hard to do - just fucking expensive! Arrrrghhhhhhh!

I will be happy with another 2lb off this week.

DP is losing loads. Bastard!

Also, he told me the things we were having for dinner tonight were syn free. I just checked - and they were fecking not. Stupid man angry. Will never trust him again! I've now had 6 syns, on top of the 5.5 I'd already had. No chocolate bar for me tonight. And boy am I mad about that!!!! Made sure he knows it to!

TheDetective Thu 06-Jun-13 20:40:14

Today's food was:

B: Pear.
L: 4 eggs, 2 slices of wholemeal bread, banana.
D: Chicken breast with fresh basil and garlic puree. 6 (small - think one potato cut in 4) roast potatoes with rosemary and thyme seasoning. Courgettes, peppers, mushroom.

Snacks: 1 jaffa cake, 1 hi life light bar.

Will have super low fat noodles if I am really really hungry later, and a banana.

onceipopicantstop Thu 06-Jun-13 22:03:10

Had gained 1lb which I'm very pleased with considering how bad I've been!! So aiming for a loss of 2 this week - then will get my first half stone award!!

muminthecity Thu 06-Jun-13 22:17:46

Well done Bunch, Detective and onceipop, and hello to all.

Agree that healthy food works out more expensive than junk. I had my weekly shop delivered tonight, it was nearly £100, it was usually £50-£60 before SW. It's only to feed me and DD!

I've been good the past couple of days but I always struggle more at the weekend so will need to be careful as I am desperate for my 2 stone award on Tuesday!

Today I've had:

B - Banana and satsuma
L - Couple of slices of lean roast beef, rice salad and green salad. Tbsp of salad cream (2 syns)
D - Homemade meatballs with spaghetti, tomato sauce and vegetables. Sprinkle of cheese (HExA) and homemade garlic bread, made using a small wholemeal roll (HExB) and 2 tsps of flora light (2 syns)

Had a muller light and a satsuma for pudding. Could have had more syns but dinner was huge and filling so didn't want anything else.

OctopusWrangler Thu 06-Jun-13 22:25:52

Today I have mostly eaten bananas. And beans on toast. Not my finest hour grin

We're having fish limbs tomorrow if the fishmonger has any pollock in. Yumyum!

Weighing in at about ten in morning. Had a cheddars disaster yesterday so I'm not sure how it will go, but it will all come rightsmile eventuallysmile

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 06-Jun-13 23:27:10

Howly - welcome - kwym about eating same stuff - that's the good things about our thread - we mention recipes we have tried and gives others ideas

Bastards - well done on stone - why a bad day? sad

Detective - bloody men eh and if he is eating same as you and no extra syns then will lose weight quicker as men seem to angry

My oh eats some meals I cook and then stuffs self with cookies ice cream beer chocolate crisps etc and still loses weight

Once - a lb gain is good of you've been a bad girl - careful or you will pop pmsl

Octopus - good luck with wi

Tomorrow is my d day as well - really hoping for 2lb loss as been so
Bloody good - salads every lunchtime and having a and b

IsaacCox Fri 07-Jun-13 09:41:17

Welcome newbies and well done on all the great losses smile

I've weighed today and have lost the 2lb I put on when we went away smile I'm assuming it's because it was quick to go on- quick to come off?

Yesterday I had:
B- 2 weetabix and skimmed milk (HEA and HEB) 2x clementines
L- broccoli and cheese pasta and sauce made with water and jalapeños and crispy bacon in. 6 syns worth of cheese on top. 4x clementines
D- chicken, bacon, asparagus, onion, butternut squash, pasta and quark which had Stilton marinating in it all day and a little milk to loosen the sauce (1.5 syn?)
2x clementines (I went a bit mad on them yesterday!)
Pomegranate seeds
Freddo (5 syns)
Flump (1.5 syns?)
Banana and custard muller light over a banana and cinnamon. (Only had 1/4 of it)
Then before bed I sneaked in 4 foam shrimps! (2.5 syns?)

I was starving yesterday and could have quite happily eaten dh's massive toblerone he was having! Grr.

Today is:
B- Weetabix and milk
L- I'm thinking a jacket pot with tuna and salad
D- Spicy mince, peppers and onions wrapped in lettuce leaves (like fajitas) with chips
Loads of fruit again

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 07-Jun-13 10:04:37

Well done Isaac. And yes you seem to love clementines grin

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 07-Jun-13 10:09:23

I lost 3lbs smile whoop that's over half of my gain from holiday

Really happy with that as usually a lb girl

Got 7 weeks till my party so if lose a lb a week that would be 10lbs in all and would be happy with that

Oh said my tummy was disappearing - think that was a back handed compliment coz of he was saying I had a big tummy sad which I did sad

Bloody holidays - I just can't be good on them sad cheese and bread and gin are my downfalls sad
