Blondes arranges cushions and sw friendly snacks smile

welcome one and all wine and brew

DoubleIndemnity Mon 18-Mar-13 14:59:18

Good afternoon from another blonde, may I pull up a cushion? Would welcome advice and encouragement...have been member of SW off and on over the the eating plans especially Green, not being a major meat-eater. Need to lose 10 pounds minimum, one stone maximum to get back to my ideal weight for height...BUT...can't stand going to "class"! No problem with being weighed, nor having my progress or lack of it discussed in front of others, just hate all the chit-chat, the promotion of SW products, the (sometimes) disapproval if you don't stay to class etc. Just don't function well in that group environment.
So am thinking of doing the online membership instead. Any of you out there doing that - any opinions? Can you do it successfully that way without the classes? I ask this as in the early days I did find the discipline of knowing I would be weighed at a certain time and day a help.
Would love to have a chat with you all on this thread to get me going!

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 18-Mar-13 15:22:13

hi double and always good to have a fellow blonde smile

there are a few of us on here

our thread was coming to 1000, so needed to start a new thread so others could find us so linked them both

pop along and join us there for 20 ish replies lol

but yes i do at home, but not online,as i work different days/nights (which really bugger up my eating as if awake at 2/3am i want to nibbble ..................)

DoubleIndemnity Mon 18-Mar-13 15:52:32

Well I've just signed up for the online package as I know if I was to start going to classes I would not carry on, and my diary is pretty busy anyway and I don't want another evening commitment. I know it's only a minimum of 10 lbs, max of 14 to lose but believe me that is a whole dress size for me and will make the difference between a whole set of clothes fitting me, which are currently on the tight side and not a good look.
BTW I am mid 50s, post menopausal but find it SO difficult to lose weight now as opposed to my late 30s when I first did SW and lost 21lbs (post having kids). Did it again in my 40s and got on okay. Last SW attempt was about 3 years ago and was a disaster.
Hope this thread will take off as am really needing moral support!

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 18-Mar-13 16:56:15

i promise this thread will take off, as i said weve all been on another one but thats coming close to 1000 posts - when thats full theres prob 10 of us who post regularly on it and they will come on this one

a stone can make all the difference from clothes fitting nicely or you bulging out of them smile

hola!! grin just marking my spot. i am going alone too and have lost ten pound in three month very slowly, just embarking on a spot of running so hoping this will help me get to the magic stone then i will ease up.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 18-Mar-13 17:32:23

waves to noyou you found us smile

i was the same as you 10lbs since new year, till i pigged out last week and gained 3 lbs

oh i love a good pig out grin

beanandspud Mon 18-Mar-13 18:28:05

Hello Double and welcome! Pull up a cushion - we're a friendly bunch.

I'm like Blondes and going it alone. I joined online last year, got all the stuff and then did absolutely nothing with it. My strange work hours and travelling mean that I could never get to a regular class. With the support of the ladies on this thread I've lost 15 pounds since January and still going - albeit very slowly.

DoubleIndemnity Mon 18-Mar-13 19:18:21

Hi all
Bean I would settle for around a stone over 2.5 months; well done, you! And noyou as well. I think I have to accept even a pound a week would now be good at my age. I used to be quite stupid at times when on the SW bandwagon in the past - e.g. eating practically nothing all day when I knew I was being weighed that night - madness! (Then eating all in sight after class!)
None of that now. I go on holiday second week in April so am aiming for about a 4lb loss by then. Next a wedding first week of May, so another 3lb by then.
What I do need to do is get my head around Extra Easy because that is all new since I was last there.
Can anyone tell me if I can have EE days alternating with Green days?

DoubleIndemnity Mon 18-Mar-13 19:20:51

Reading my posts back I need to develop a bit more of a positive attitude!
I am trying to go swimming 2 mornings a week and get out for at least a couple of decent walks each week, having given up gym memberships when I last gave up SW.
Just been reading latest SW magazine and getting plenty of encouragement from that too!

hiya i was doing see and green and sort of stopped losing so switched to doing a bit of extra easy and i had more of a loss, i just mix red and green cot throw in a ee day when my planning has gone tits up - basically its red and green mixed up with only one healthy a or b instead of two.

BadRoly Mon 18-Mar-13 20:26:01

Hello grin

laughalot Mon 18-Mar-13 20:45:00

Welcome double you will get used to us crazy bunch ha ha. I dont do the class just weigh every week at boots I started on the 7th Jan and to date iv lost one and a half stone still a long way to go though.

Well after my bad week I amazingly stayed the same !!!!!!!! I can only presume it is the sheer amount of walking I do as I dont drive and last week my dh was away at the races so I did the walking to school thing in the morning which I dont usually do. So I am a really happy bunny.

Hope everyone has a fab week.

3girls1madboy Mon 18-Mar-13 20:54:20

Hi ladies, just joined mumsnet and found this page. Been doing sw since Jan 5th and lost 1st 7lb. Still 2st to go, just finding it hard this week. Just want to eat junk food!!!!!!!

ThatBintAgain Mon 18-Mar-13 21:19:00

Evening! Chuffed with 3lbs off, but I really have tried this week. I needed a decent result because I was getting to the point of binning it off in disgust. Hope everyone else has a good week.

laughalot Mon 18-Mar-13 21:23:42

3girls1madboy similar weight loss to me smile

3girls1madboy Mon 18-Mar-13 21:31:34

I found it came off really well, just been stuck at 1/2 and 1lb loses for the last few weeks. I don't really like group, no consistent consultant, had about 3 different ones over the last 4 weeks, and nothing from the original one. Heyho...all for a greater purpose. Hitting my 10% was a huge thing for me, and dead chuffed I did it.

tigerdriverII Mon 18-Mar-13 21:43:23

Hello all!

Welcome double. This is a great thread with some really good support, hope you have fun with us. I am 51 and like you post menopause. agree the weight just doesn't drop off now, it really takes some effort. I've lost 1.5 stone since the end of September, so very slow progress but hopefully it'll stay off and i feel and look a lot better already. But I've three stone to go to a healthy BMI. I will get there <<grits teeth>>.

iklboo Mon 18-Mar-13 21:50:19

Yay! Found it <waves>.

BadRoly Mon 18-Mar-13 22:01:52

So I'm starting this thread with my before and after!

I started on 21/11/12 at 16st 6.5oz. I was wearing size 20/22 clothes.

Last Weds I was 14st 11oz and all my old size 18 clothes either fit or are a little loose!

I have set a target at 14st 7oz as I want to have a realistic weight that I can maintain (forever) while not feeling restricted in what I eat. I will see how I get on and lower it if I need to. It does mean an 'overweight' BMI of 29 but currently that is the least of my concerns!

Ideally I now need to work on toning the flabby bits - I have yoga and Pilates DVDs but have yet to do them. I have many excuses but essentially I just cba...

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 18-Mar-13 23:38:20

<waves to laughalot and ikiboo and bint>

Welcome 3 girls

Can't believe some of you have lost 3 times what I have sad

Sure working nights fucks up my metoboslim sad

androbbob Tue 19-Mar-13 06:35:33

Bonjour!! Pushes cushions out of the way to get to the snacks!

Lying in bed contemplating getting a shower but cba! Will ned to shift this lardy ar*e shortly as need to check out of hotel, eat and be downstairs ready to function by 8am. Have enjoyed not having to cook for 2 days and some me time, but missing the kids. Should be out of here by 2 and home by 3 at the latest.

Have surprised myself with my food choices and restraint. Will need to crack on this week when get home as missed WI. Could go to one later this week but may not bother as usual WI is Monday. I did use scales at gym last friday as they do a printout, so will do the same this fri. Need to kickstart losses as too slow. Taken me 3 months to lose a stone. Want another one gone by end May.

KissMyGrits Tue 19-Mar-13 07:52:17

Hello Everyone! I started 11st 8.8lbs and I'm now 9st 11.2 lbs. Technically I'm not supposed to WI until tomorrow but I was so excited I did it this morning and my BMI is now 24.88, I'm healthy for the first time in about 6.5 years!

BadRoly thats very sensible, I don't know if I'll be able to maintain my target weight so I'm happy with an extra half a stone than I want. If that makes sense (it does in my head).

KissMyGrits Tue 19-Mar-13 08:11:07

Well done on your restraint androb!

Aw well done kissmygirls, it feels so worthwhile when that BMI isnt scarey anymore - i not technically due to weigh till friday either but did yesterday and have gained a toot so am going to be uber good till friday now, i feel a bit ropey to be honest and a bit gutted will miss my my exersise tonight as a result. Dd not so rosey either so half expect a school call though she is adamant shes just tired.

Kneedeepindaisies Tue 19-Mar-13 09:23:48

Hello! Can I join please? I'm due to weigh in this morning. I've been on the plan since January and have lost 10lbs. Very slow going.

laughalot Tue 19-Mar-13 11:43:25

Welcome to all the newbies we can do this !!!!!!!!!!!

Badroly that is a sensible goal and well done on what you have lost grin

Blondes maybe that is what does it your odd working hours.

laughalot Tue 19-Mar-13 11:44:25

androbbob you have been super good with being away well done xx

Paxdora Tue 19-Mar-13 11:57:23

Pokes head around door and waves nervously grin ......

Hello, can I join you?

I've just registered online for SW (great discount code AVIVA2013).

Day 3 - I'm looking or dinner inspiration.

I have a great SW pastry-less quiche recipe that I can offer you all (by way of friendship and support) - which is FREE grin and freezes well.

My first weigh in is on Saturday.

BadRoly Tue 19-Mar-13 12:35:30

Hello all the new faces grin

Paxdora, having just found 6 eggs in our nest box, I would like the quiche recipe please grin

BadRoly Tue 19-Mar-13 12:38:52

I must remember to finish my post before hitting the post button...

I am on a fridge empty/eat up today so have had leftover Chinese takeaway for lunch - boiled rice, 1/4 'box' each of chicken chow mein and beef in black bean sauce. I am counting it as 10 syns but would be shocked if it really was wink

For tea I am doing proper carbonara for the kids (which I don't like) and I'm having leftover SW chilli with a jacket.

I had banana for breakfast so will use hifi bars and babybel when the munchies hit...

Paxdora Tue 19-Mar-13 12:42:58

SW pastry free quiche.

4 slices smoked bacon (fat cut off) - fried in fry light, drain excess water

2 leeks sliced
1 medium sweet potato diced into bite sized chunks
Fried in fry light until soft (apps 10 mins)

Whisk 4 eggs with 200g quark AND 200g light cottage cheese
Add salt and pepper

Mix all ingredients together

Spray fry light into flan dish and pour in mixture of all ingredients)

Grate cheese from allowance on top

Bake at 180 for about 20-25 mins (sometimes a little longer depending on oven but you will know by sight when it's cooked)

Serve with new pots and salad

Cut eft overs into chunks and freeze for another day.

Sometimes I add roasted peppers too (arranged in an arty fashion on top of the mixture)

The quiche rises quite high and then deflates when out of the oven.

KissMyGrits Tue 19-Mar-13 12:43:46

noyou I hope your daughter is ok.

Hi Paxdora my favourie SW teas are cottage pie or chicken tikka massala. Yum!

Paxdora Tue 19-Mar-13 12:45:24

^^^^ SW pastry free quiche recipe (scroll up just a little) ^^^^^^^

Paxdora Tue 19-Mar-13 13:12:35

Okay - here's my clearing out the fridge lunch for today

Butternut squash soup - free (leeks, carrots, butternut squash, stock cube, water, salt, pepper, cumin)

Left over home made coronation chicken - chicken is free, mayo light 2syns), a teaspoon of mango chutney (1.5 syns), curry powder

tigerdriverII Tue 19-Mar-13 13:35:30

Ok, pre WI tonight, I have had:

B: muller light, blue berries, hi if bar (HEb)

L: baked beans, topped with cheese (hea). Muller light, banana, Sharon fruit, mandarin

Zippo syns so far.... Dinner is planned to be smoked salmon pasta, with whipped up yog instead of sour cream (sounds disgusting, tastes yum) with salad.

Fingers crossed for a loss (any loss!) tonight....

DoubleIndemnity Tue 19-Mar-13 14:14:40

Hello everyone, lovely to meet you all and thanks for the warm welcome! Feeling heartened to hear from ladies in my age group, knowing I'm not the only one who finds weight loss slow now.
I used the Aviva code too - it's valid till 31/3 I think.
Quite impressed by SW website and its various tools.
Having a good day!
Paxdora thanks for the recipes and ideas. Struggling a bit to get my ancient head round Extra Easy so sticking to what I know, and what has worked in the past, i.e. Green plan.
Best wishes to you all especially those with WI today (mine will be Saturday mornings) xx

iklboo Tue 19-Mar-13 15:44:42

Luscious lemon hi-Fi bar for breakfast (Healthy B)
Fruit for lunch

Anyway, I'd love to join your thread of you'll have me smile

Furball Tue 19-Mar-13 16:28:11

I'm another newbie this time

I did it about 5 years ago and lost 2 stone and have since put that on plus a bit more for luck.

I have been shopping and bought a mountain of fruit, done my meal plan for the week - all green days.

'plan plan plan - know what you are going to the kitchen for' is my motto, no rummaging allowed

Turkey Shepherds pie

Salmon Fishcakes with jacket and salad

Egg beans, mushrooms and a few sw chips

I'm going out but will be sensible and at least will not have a pudding

Roast chicken

Left over roast chicken

Chicken, cheese and onion pie.

KissMyGrits Tue 19-Mar-13 16:36:09

Hello all the newcomers grin

B: Weetabix (hexb) milk (hexa)
L: Jacket with tuna and sweetcorn (mayo 1)
D: Chicken, potato, turnip, peas, broccoli, carrots

snacks: banana, blueberries, mullerlight

DD is back to school tomorrow even if I have to cover her chicken pox with make up, she's driving me nuts! Will have a sneaky glass of wine tomorrow night to celebrate hitting healthy BMI after WI.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 19-Mar-13 18:21:13

bint well done on 3 lb loss envy grin

androb i wouldnt bother with wi this week, as will be a diffferent day/time and possibly scales

kiss envy at normal bmi

kneedeep you sound like me, im a slow tortoise, and asi said ive lost 1/3 of what some have on sw- i was 10 lbs but had a binge last week and gained 3 lbs sad

furball i rem you, we met last year smile and fab planning

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 19-Mar-13 18:23:41

b melon
l spag bol and veg
t salmon and rice and veg

i have had a slight mishap as well

at funeral today sad and i was forced to eat some sandwiches, and cake, you know what it is like, you can say ta a party, but much harder at a funeral/wake

i did chose the brown bread option, and had 4 in all, so 2 slices, 1 was prawn cocktail, one cheese, one ham and one really not sure, but was yummy with A WEIRD pickle/relish

and a small pastry/toffee thing

ffs i was trying to make today a syn free day,

i need to lose friday after last weeks embarrassing gain of 3 lbs

tigerdriverII Tue 19-Mar-13 18:33:52

Oh blondes don't worry too much. Sometimes you can't stick to plan for quite understandable reasons, if the rest of the week has been/is going to be ok, then you'll be fine.

Off for my WI in a few minutes. eeek.

Furball Tue 19-Mar-13 18:56:57

blondes - when you say met ?? last year

I used to pop on the WW threads and give Littlefish a shove in the right direction when she needed

laughalot Tue 19-Mar-13 19:11:51

lol blondes are you stalking furball hee hee

today i have had
hea weeetabix
home made potato, lentil and carot soup
2 custard creams (dont know wtf happened there!)
packet of quavers
lasagne and jacket spud

supposed to be an ee day and god knows how many syns but i feel a bit sorry formyself today and all weak and whiney grin

3girls1madboy Tue 19-Mar-13 19:26:08

I have found it helps to plan the week. I do the food shop on a Friday, so thurs night is meal plan night. Although i do I need some tips to stop me slipping back into old habits of m&s/boots lunches, instead of healthy packed lunches. Plus it's cheaper to take me own grin

Hello all smile I wi today - lost 1.5lbs so very happy as I've been stuck for a couple of weeks, don't really know why...
I had the ocean pie from the little booklet on the magazine (this month, maybe last? sorry very flu-y and brain not working) it was lovely, will definitely do it again.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 19-Mar-13 19:35:08

noyou you and me sad

furball lol, met met on diet thread, though i have been to several meets and chatted to many pissed grin

tiger good luck with wi

Can I ask a question, is it bad not to have you hex a or b every day? Also not having 5 syns some days? I'm doing it on line but can't get these answers anywhere

iklboo Tue 19-Mar-13 19:50:06

Hello & welcome newbies! Well done everyone on the weight losses.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 19-Mar-13 19:54:47

fish you are meant to have your a and b each day-works out 6 syns for each and means you have the right amount of fibre and calcium in your diet

again syns vary, sw say you can have 15 a day-105 a week

seems if i eat 15 a day i sts/gain

i try to have 70/80ish over the week

tigerdriverII Tue 19-Mar-13 20:42:27

Oh dear. Just back from WI. Gained 1/2 lb. which in itself isn't a disaster but over the last 6 weeks I ' ve basically STS. Gah!

I did have several meals out last week. Upped the exercise but clearly not enough. Really need to make progress now. I know I've got to cut back on the booze, that's where nearly all my syns go. Feel like pouring a big one though.

Me23 Tue 19-Mar-13 20:50:42

Hello everyone found you all smile welcome to the newcomers.
I've been away and had my sons 2nd bday yesterday so food wise haven't been on plan much! Last week I put on a pound and due to weight in on thurs and I'm pretty sure it will be a gain.

BadRoly Tue 19-Mar-13 20:50:57

Oh Tiger hmm

DoubleIndemnity Tue 19-Mar-13 21:59:13

My first full day back on the SW plan

Green day

Breakfast - W'bix (hxb) Semi skim milk (hxa)
Lunch - mushroom omelette, salad, Shape zero fat yoghurt
Dinner - pilau rice, sweetcorn, peas, tomatoes, Dole fruit pot of peaches, another Shape yoghurt

Teas and coffees - milk from allowance

Syns - salad dressing, light olive oil, dole peaches, pilau rice (half a pack)
Options hot choc drink

Does that sound okay? Could I have had more hxs?

Feel fine - haven't felt hungry. Have kept busy!

Oh and did 1 hour walk this eve, chatting with friend. Off to bed now.

Love reading everyone's stories!

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 19-Mar-13 23:11:08

<waves to me&tiger> sorry you gained last week - lets hope for a better week for all of us

im not very good at green days, but seems to be ok smile

Furball Wed 20-Mar-13 06:01:23

blondes thought thats what you meant. I have seen you about the place too as I always read your name blonde shaves...... grin

KissMyGrits Wed 20-Mar-13 06:31:59

me and tiger sorry about the gains, hopefully you know why though.

I only lost 1.2lbs this week, one of my smallest losses to date. I had a big tuna sandwich and a sausage roll Friday lunch time and a curry on Sat night so that plus the lack of walking due to the kids could explain it though. I know it could have been worse through!

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 10:01:47

1lb off - so back to where I was 2 weeks ago grin

Right, on and up. 3lb to go until I hit my initial target. Would be good to do that by April...

laughalot Wed 20-Mar-13 12:13:51

Hi everyone

Me and tiger sorry for the gains but onward and upwards grin.

Not doing too bad so far this week do have a question though are we supposed to after so long mix the red/green and ee day ? Surely our bodies will start and get used to the same routine and may need a shock of mixing it around ? I may be totally wrong hence why im a baby hippo I mean overweight grin.

ThatBintAgain Wed 20-Mar-13 12:27:30

Hi blondes - it's really hard when you're in a situation where it's hard to avoid racking up the syns. I struggle as well in that if I have one bad day I think I've knackered it and stuff my face for the rest of the week. It's all about mindset...

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 20-Mar-13 12:31:44

well done kiss and roly

think i need to start writing menus again, one to help me and two to give inspiration for others, we can look at what we all eat

b all bran, fruit and low fat yog (1)
l carbonara, bloody yummy tbh and syn free smile
t salmon and rice

s fruit and maybe mugshot as working tonight so will snack sad

Kneedeepindaisies Wed 20-Mar-13 12:32:35

I lost 1.5lb yesterday but have already had 11 syns today so I really need to get my arse into gear. I've got 2.5lbs until my stone award and really want it next week.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 20-Mar-13 12:49:43

well done knee its a loss smile

<wombles in> hi all seem to have been stuck at a plateau for a while perhaps because I have not been following plan but back on the wagin with you all now.

Anyone had any none scale victorys?

My boss told me I looked like I had lost an "incredible amount of weight" and today I tried on a size 14 dress from Dotty Ps and it fitted ( well my norks tried to escape but they always do). I am holding on to the fact my waist looks slimmer even though Ive lost no weight IYSWIM

Me23 Wed 20-Mar-13 13:13:26

double on green days you should have 2x hea and 2 heb choices! That the great thing about them! I only do green as I'm veggie.
B- white bread with jam blush 5 syns!
L- rice with ratatouille 2.5 syns
D- x2 quorn burgers sw chips sweet corn 1syn.

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 13:14:54

I have your quiche in my oven right now Paxdora. Well half of it, my flan dish was overflowing so I've had to split it into 2 flan dishes. So it may be more of an omelette than a quiche...

Unfortunately, I am ravenous so am scouring the kitchen for munchies as it bakes. So far it has been mostly fruit, with 1 rich tea, but I am eyeing up the jar of pickled eggs...

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 13:16:55

smelly I have got back into all my old size 18 clothes with ease (and given away my much loved size 20 Boden flared cords as they kept falling down sad).

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 14:01:32

That quiche was lush! I think it will be a firm lunchtime favourite in the Roly household! Thank you Paxdora grin

iklboo Wed 20-Mar-13 17:36:54

Diet coke chicken for tea tonight. It was quite tasty. Better than the mushy pea curry anyway.

3girls1madboy Wed 20-Mar-13 18:28:07

Jacket spud with chicken and salad for tea. Off to Zumba in a bit, to work my tooshie off. Saying that I must've walked about 4 miles getting dd2 and 3 to a cross country comp! I will be slim and healthy for the summer grin

A colleague at work has commented i look like i have lost weight but then she probably just wants me to stop being so anal about everything i eat. Dh thinks my baby house has shrunk a bit and my pyjamas do fall down as i walk. Anyway today i have had:
breakfast - weetabix (HEA)
lunch: sushi
tea: oh dear blush a sausage roll and pasta and sauce but in my defence mlord i then went out and did a run, i have made homemade soup for tomorow and have a yogurt and raspberries for laters.

tigerdriverII Wed 20-Mar-13 20:27:22

iklboo Wed 20-Mar-13 21:35:44

Just found out they're discontinuing the Luscious Lemon Hi-Fi bars. I am sulking hmm

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 21:36:54

Well today has been mixed...

B- banana
S- apple, grapes, 3 clementines, black coffee x2,
L- Paxdora's quiche and salad, water
S- 1 rich tea (2syns) & peppermint tea
Binge hmm - 10? Custard creams (30 syns) & 4 rich tea (8syns)
T- grilled cod & salad (at fish & chip shop so few of dc chips too)
S- 2x babybel (heA) and Spevial k bar (heB).

I am very cross about my biscuit munching as I made myself feel sick by just ramming them in one after another confused

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 21:38:00

Fish - put the creme egg in the freezer. It's much harder to eat so sometimes the craving can wear off before its defrosted enough to eat wink

Put down the cream egg angry

I've gone to bed. Even I wouldn't eat a cream egg in bed. 'Till tomorrow .. smile

tigerdriverII Wed 20-Mar-13 22:08:23

Oh badroly sad re your biscuits. If only you had my biscuit resisting powers, and I had your wine resisting powers and fish had our cream egg resisting powers.....

There would be no need for SW!

Can you find ways to make yourself not have the first biscuit?

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 22:08:49

Oh I would blush

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 22:13:10

Tiger I haven't been buying them as last time I filled the biscuit tin, the dc and their friends drilled it in one go angry so I refused to fill it again. That was over a month ago. But I went to Lidl and stocked up again today, gave the dc 1 each then sat next to the open packet and just ate them mindlessly angry.

I have struggled to stop eating chocolate (would eat a big bar each evening) but I'm obviously still craving sweet sugary stuff and all I have in the house is biscuit...

tigerdriverII Wed 20-Mar-13 22:19:37

Hmmm, it is difficult, and I know, sometimes only choc or biscuits will do. Do you like muller lights? The toffee ones are nice, and I have one of those if I fancy something sweet. I don't have a massive sweet tooth though so can resist. The frozen muller light was ok. I have two more in the freezer but I prob won't repeat that experiment!

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 22:23:59

I have the mullerlight and do use them and fruit but sometimes it's just not what I want - but that's why I'm here isn't it grin

beanandspud Wed 20-Mar-13 22:48:28

Don't dwell on the biscuits Roly - easier said than done I know. Write it off as a bad day and start again tomorrow. We're all in this for the long haul and there'll be some blips on the way. Just think about those Boden cords at the bottom of the recycling bin, you've done really well, don't give up.

Now if someone could pass on those wine resisting powers I would be very grateful - thank you grin

BadRoly Wed 20-Mar-13 23:18:28

Thanks Beans and I know. I'm just really fed up at the moment so well able to beat myself up over something that wouldn't normally bother me smile

As for avoiding wine/booze - I won't drink on my own so that only leaves Fri and Sat nights and usually by Friday I'm too tired to even be arsed to open the bottle wink...

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 20-Mar-13 23:28:53

Hi smelleyorange

Ikiboo I love diet coke chicken. May make tomorrow ..,,,, if can rem to take chicken out of freezer Tom at 7am

Roly 'gives cuddle' biscuits are so easily eaten that I'm better off not eating any sad

But it's happened so dont worry about it

Have fed bubs and the um has started ww so their food all over the place. ESP biscuits

Why don't sw do biscuits and cakes like ww do? sad

I could eat them and just syn the cals .......

Badroly I find red grapes fab when I need something sweet. I keep them in the fridge they are delicious really cold smile

KissMyGrits Thu 21-Mar-13 06:59:27

Aw badroly sorry about the biscuit binge, my sweet go to's are vanilla and dark choc mullerlight, choc and fudge Alpen lights (2 as hexb or 3 sync each) or I suck on a mini dairy milk that I got a tube of for Christmas (2.5 syns?). Let it melt in your mouth it lasts for ages and then just enjoy the taste!

When I fancy junk food I have Pepsi Max, its syn free but very junk foody.

Blondes don't do it!!!

Sometimes I wonder if WW would be easier seeing as how you can have the ready meals, but I hate the kids eating processed food and assume it would be more expensive.

I know I've done well on this diet and sometimes I feel a bit patronising giving other people encouragement when they binge, I don't mean to I really hope we all do well. But I must confess I have a HUGE motivator to get me going, my ridiculously attractive, size 8, 5'7" best friend asked me to be bridesmaid. All the other bridesmaids are similarly slim and pretty. I don't mind being the ugly one but I'm not being the fat, ugly one!

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 21-Mar-13 07:51:06

Fish - I also like cold crispy red Grapes from fridge smile

Kiss - kwym I did we before for that reason. If need a quick meal ten microwave for 5/7pp

It's good to cook properly but I would like a sw biscuit or cake etc I stead of wasting 6syns on a cake / bar thing like the other day. Felt it was wasted syns

Bugger. I'm in bed after working last night and didnt get out chicken

Blondes gets out of bed to defrost chicken

Will menu plan when I wake up

Be good people smile

BadRoly Thu 21-Mar-13 08:36:33

You lot are brilliant you know! I was in a crap mood yesterday, all woe is me wallowing pityfest! I did feel bad about the biscuits but you know what, it doesn't matter. Today is a whole new (grey wet and dreary unfortunately) day.

Onwards and upwards ladies, we are all the mutt's nuts xxxx

beanandspud Thu 21-Mar-13 09:39:52

Morning all!

Good on you Roly - new day today - onwards and downwards!

I need a good, (almost) syn-free day today to make up for the last couple of days.

B - Muller light and strawberries
L - Salad and prawns
D - Tomato sauce in slow cooker to have with pasta <<awards self some points for being organised this morning>>

S - I have alpen light bars and fruit lined up!

I did toy with WW but tbh I hate the idea of living on a lot of processed food and the portion sizes never seemed very, ahem, generous. I much prefer SW where there is unlimited amounts of some foods and we can all eat the same stuff.

Hope everyone has a good day, this thread is moving quickly so haven't read back properly but welcome to everyone that's joined us.

I have a personal training session at the gym at 12 and would rather be shot hmm

Up since 2 with teething poorly baby and ds 3 having nightmares, I'm too tired to have my ass kicked today!

Cupcake1982 Thu 21-Mar-13 11:26:05

Morning, I have just joined sw and don't know where to begin! I have followed the plan about 5 years ago so remember some bits.
I need to go shopping to stock up on supplies, can anyone recommend some must have buys for the first week to help me. I like quite simple food and have a very sweet tooth!
I also need some quick ideas for after work!
Are low fat super noodles free? Which bread is good? What low syn sweet treats could I get in?
Thanks smile xx

Me23 Thu 21-Mar-13 14:18:39

Well done Me - great news grin

Hello Cupcake!

You could also add Muller Light yogurts to your list and Alpen Light bars (you can have two as a HeB so they are good for snacks). If you like Ryvita you can have 3 or 4 as a HeB - more filling than just one slice of bread.

Me23 Thu 21-Mar-13 14:44:13

Also activia fat free snack pots are free except for the banonfee one which is 0.5 syns. X2 mini babybels are a healthy extra a.

Blondes- I love not having to weigh everything...apart from cereal

3girls1madboy Thu 21-Mar-13 20:45:46

I blame dd3 friends mum for taking them there in the first place!

Cupcake1982 Thu 21-Mar-13 21:09:16

Thanks everyone for all the helpful messages.
Day 1 has gone well, lets hope it continues! smile

BadRoly Thu 21-Mar-13 21:30:28

Evening grin and welcome Cupcake

Much happier today. It has been a good day.

B- fruit salad (banana, 2 clementines, apple) with natural yogurt. Black coffee
S- banana, black coffee
L- Paxdora's quiche, water, Mullerlight
S- Red bush tea, pickled egg
T- homemade chicken nuggets (max 4.5), oven chips (max 5.5), baked beans, apple crumble made by dd1 (3 syns), custard (5syns), water
S- 2 baby bel (heA) 2 hifi lights (heB)

So a maximum of 18syns. Syns on the nuggets are for the breadcrumbs - not weighed so probably an overestimate. Only had a few chips as had loads of beans (and wasn't really hungry).

tigerdriverII Thu 21-Mar-13 21:34:51

Hello everyone! Welcome cupcake, some good food ideas there. Can't go wrong with fruit, baked beans and a few tins of veg of various sorts, rice, pasta and spuds as long as you cook'em right. And muller lights and I like the SW hifi bars, they are sweet and fibrous - what's not to like.

Still being not too bad:

Walked a brisk 1.5 miles this morning

B: muller light and blue berries, a hifi bar (HEb)

L: chicken, salad, lots of things in it but no dressing

D: not sure yet, I have had two small glasses prosecco and half a glass of wine, and three rolled up pieces of lean beef at a do, and have got some leftover carbonara in the fridge, could have that.

So the only syns are in the drinks - maybe 12 in total? I haven't had any syns since Monday, so with the walking, I think I'm still on track <<hopeful>>

ArtemisKinderSurprise Thu 21-Mar-13 22:06:24

Just joined SW tonight, have just over 3 stone to lose eek. I need to meal plan & go shopping now.

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 21-Mar-13 22:28:30

Cupcake and kinder welcome

KissMyGrits Fri 22-Mar-13 06:41:05

Well done on the losses!

I've had a weird week had horrific days which have made me want a glass of wine but DS has been up all night which has made me too tired to drink! Pretty sure DS broke my toe in temper last night so I need a medicinal glass of wine tonight.

Plan for today:
B: Mullerlight and fruit
L: Chicken salad
D: SW Chicken Tikka Massala

Syns: Wine (6)

Hexa: Milk Hexb: Not sure yet

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 22-Mar-13 07:37:18

beanandspud Fri 22-Mar-13 09:04:57

Well done Blondes gringringrin

ThatBintAgain Fri 22-Mar-13 09:53:27

Well done everyone on the losses!

I ate three hot cross buns the day after I lost three pounds. I don't know why I do these things, I clearly have issues. hmm In my defence I was starving after walking 6 miles up hills, but still...

KissMyGrits Fri 22-Mar-13 10:12:34

Well done blondes that is a fantastic loss!

thatbint I always give myself a little treat after weigh in and the 6 miles is great!

Aw well done blondes i lost half a pound so now officially ten stone something yey !!

ThatBintAgain Fri 22-Mar-13 10:42:40

KissMyGrits (fab name, is that from the Wedding Singer?!) I just really hope that I didn't undo myself, I must have had about 50 syns that day. I was ravenous!

3girls1madboy Fri 22-Mar-13 13:10:45

Bugger!!! Thought I would get a healthy puy lentil and Tom soup from Tesco. Turns out it, it's 19.5 Syns shock.
There goes my couple of glasses of wine!
Why oh why can't I just be slimsad

KissMyGrits Fri 22-Mar-13 14:04:15

ThatBint Its an American saying that I say to my American husband when he's getting on my nerves! It was probably said on The Wedding Singer (awesome movie!), just found it's supposed to be spelled griz not grits though, oops!

3girls I hate it when that happens I had a bread roll with some soup that turned out to be 9 syns, on top of everything else I'd eaten that day it wasn't good!

DoubleIndemnity Fri 22-Mar-13 15:58:40

Hi all
This is a great thread - loads of advice and support
Sorry not been on for a couple of days but have been really concentrating hard and trying to get my head round doing Extra Easy instead of Green. I'm not a vegetarian but eat very little meat - hate anything chewy, fatty or gristly. But love chicken, fish, seafood.
Am I right in concluding that on EE I can only have 1 HE A and 1 HE B per day (on green I could have 2 of each?)
I notice from the latest SW magazine that very few of the recipes have a Green Syn value - they are mainly EE.
Anyway, I made the cheesy pasta bake last night (p.31) left out the ham so I guess it was a Green meal like that. It was tasty.
From my previous forays into SW, I recall Batchelors Savoury Rice was free - is that still the case?
Feeling a bit thwarted today as had planned outdoor exercise and we have 6" snow in the north...also was going to drive to local swimming pool and can't get my car out.
Well done to you all anyway on your endeavours, and losses where applicable, I am finding this thread SO encouraging.

KissMyGrits Fri 22-Mar-13 16:15:55

Double Thats right about the HE's on EE, just 1 each. I think they're really pushing the EE plan now, because it really is easy.

3girls you poor thing shock think of all the goodies you could have had hmm

3girls1madboy Fri 22-Mar-13 19:28:16

Tell me about it Fish!! And I wasn't even planning on buying any, but I smelt the fresh bread, and that was it!!!!
Hey ho tomorrow is a new day, and I plan to be back on track smile

Cupcake1982 Fri 22-Mar-13 19:34:32

Evening all smile
Thank you for all the lovely welcomes! I am going to be around for a while as I have about 5 stone to lose but to be honest I can't think about that right now, and just need to concentrate on small targets one at a time.
Day 2 has gone well, Today I've been enjoying pasta in tomato sauce, jacket with cheese and beans, muller light yogs and fruit.
I am going to use 9 syns tonight on a cadburys cream egg smile

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 22-Mar-13 19:37:30

Thank you. Really happy smile and amazed lol

19.5 for lentil and Tom soup????? Wtf else was in it. Double cream???

You were robbed sad

Think Heinz soup is 8 a tin and that's a rip off when think being healthy

L was a macoroni cheese bake. Very nice. Prob v high in syns. But havnt had a yet so that a few syns less for cheese and pasta is free grin did have huge salad with it

Day at work was emotionally trying and tiring - even more so as worked last night so tired anyway. Temp job and ill crying children who were ok ish till sahm came in and then they cried

In bath with stiff one

Well it is naughty night

DoubleIndemnity Fri 22-Mar-13 19:49:59

Grits many thanks, finally getting my head round it now, and yes you are right it is easy when you come to think of it It just seems like so much food is either free or superfree, you feel like you shouldn't be eating so much. Need to get out of my "green" mindset. Cooking nice piece of salmon with lots of veg right now and have some syns to play with so possibly a glass of red to go with?? A stiff one in the bath sounds great Blondes!!
Have a good weekend all!
Your friend in the frozen north xx

DoubleIndemnity Fri 22-Mar-13 19:51:45

And just checked online, savoury rice free on EE - excellent!

laughalot Fri 22-Mar-13 20:01:22

I have been a very naughty girl today but I have a excuse grin my sister in law is about to make me a Aunty she went into labour at ten thirty last night but is stuck at 5cm at the minute sad. So I have had a pre celebration on mini eggs oops.

Well done everyone on the losses especially blondes grin.

beanandspud Fri 22-Mar-13 20:08:09

Not a great day today sad. We took DS out for a Chinese meal for tea (his request) and although I had prawns as a starter and then prawns with ginger as a main course with boiled rice I suspect it was still syns-ful. Have also had a couple of glasses of wine.

Pretty much syn-free the rest of the day apart from 3 ryvitas though.

Not expecting a loss tomorrow tbh - too much wine and eating out this week. I did however try on a pair of trousers that I bought before Christmas (and could hardly do up) and they are actually loose so something is working.

beanandspud Fri 22-Mar-13 20:10:33

<<cheers on Laughalot's SIL>>

3girls1madboy Fri 22-Mar-13 20:22:24

My thoughts exactly Blonde...texted dh in shock! I did check the ingredients again, no double cream, but olive oil, so there is some of them....god knows where the rest came from confused.

I love trying on things that used to be tight Bean, I have a pair of work trousers, that are too loose, and need to not be worn again, as they make my bum look huge grin

Good luck Laughalot's SIL x

I'm very pissed off. Have stuck to plan exactly and had less than 5 sins every day except for Thursday when had about 12 and lost .5lb this week. Put on .5 last week so 2 weeks hard dieting for nothing. Started with personal trainer at the gym 3 weeks ago and weight loss has basically stopped sad

Am working so hard it's so demoralising.. Is it because I'm within sight of goal do you think ( about 7/8 lbs to go )

KissMyGrits Sat 23-Mar-13 07:41:16

Fish I notice that if I've done lots of exercise my weight loss isn't always quicker. Possibly you're just converting fat to muscle, what kind of exercise are you doing? Try checking your inches and wether clothes are looser as well.

Laughalot keep us updated!

whoknowswho Sat 23-Mar-13 07:57:07

Hello May I join you........ I've never done SW before but a colleague has just lost a stone really quickly so I want some of that too!!!! Have not joined a class yet but plan to start the 7 day free plan on the SW website tomorrow, cleaning out my fridge now and going shopping this afternoon to stock up!

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 23-Mar-13 08:35:25

Bean. Sounds yummy and you did damage limitation

Fish - kwym - maybe you've toned up - def measure. I do every month - plus maybe eat more then 5 syns a day. You are allowed 10/15 so you are having 70 less a week shock

I rarely have spare syns lol. But spend the. On crisps salad cream and CHINESE

Laughalot - yah for aunty smile

Double - i eat tons of those sav rice. Lovely with salmon or mince

Who knows - welcome

3girls1madboy Sat 23-Mar-13 09:19:41

Fish, I've found if I don't use my Syns, I don't loose very much at all.

Hi who smile

Just sent the dh shopping in the snow, with a very strict list. Must stick to plan this week!!

beanandspud Sat 23-Mar-13 09:54:51

2lb on sad.

Not happy. Not surprised.

Furball Sat 23-Mar-13 10:29:56

whoknowswho - welcome - just wade in.

I always find it pays to know what you are going to the kitchen for.

and a great way to start by following the ready made plan smile

Furball Sat 23-Mar-13 11:33:40

beanandspud - try extra hard this week and you should lose that no probs smile

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 23-Mar-13 11:37:05

I've totally lost my motivation and am just eating every bit of crap food in sight sad
I don't know why I do it to myself. I'm 2.5lb away from a bloody stone and I just sabotage myself.
Please can someone give me a kick up the arse??

Furball Sat 23-Mar-13 12:13:03

<<dons bobbaboots and gives kneedeep a whack up the jacksey>>

meal plan, meal plan, meal plan. smile - eat loads of stuff that is free.

Know what you are going to the kitchen for, never rummage in the cupboards

have a green day, make a massive plate of egg, beans and sw chips so you aren't even hungry.

Sometimes a glass of diet coke gives you the sweetness you need.

Is it a change of food you need? Have a read of [[ this amazing thread of SW recipes from a guy that lost an incredible 6 1/2 stone shock

Furball Sat 23-Mar-13 12:13:32

oh blow - link = here, sorry bout that

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 23-Mar-13 15:06:54

Thank you Furball I have stepped away from the fridge and put washing up liquid in the bowl of left over chocolate icing so I can't be tempted!

Me23 Sat 23-Mar-13 15:21:05

Well done blondes 3lbs is great!
OH made marble cake other day have had 2 slices over last couple days.
Also had Thai takeaway on thurs.
Need to limit the syns for the rest of the week.

whoknowswho Sat 23-Mar-13 15:34:44

Thanks all for the welcome! Fridge stocked and ready. Looking forward to the full English in the morning!!!

EATmum Sat 23-Mar-13 16:04:16

Can I join you? I'm not a 'proper' member of SW at the moment though I've done the online membership successfully before. I kind of maintain by cooking SW recipes most of the time but as I'm not very good I've let about half a stone creep back. Hard to find the motivation to deal with it, but I know I'd look much better without it.
I'd love to know everyone's favourite SW recipes. We regularly have steak and SW chips with salad (DH heartily approves) and fish/prawn dishes. I could use some inspiration for easy things to cook in the evening that are tasty!
Thanks and good luck to everyone.

EATmum Sat 23-Mar-13 16:06:19

Oh I meant to say too, that I asked SW for this kind of support forum as part of the SW online package - really can't think why they hadn't done it as its so helpful to share ideas and support if you don't go to a group. So thank you!

Furball Sat 23-Mar-13 16:20:31

eatmum - follow my link a few posts down smile

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 23-Mar-13 17:36:06

That link is amazing. Loads of recipes

EATmum Sat 23-Mar-13 18:28:19

Excellent, thanks Furball. Have bookmarked ...

Cupcake1982 Sat 23-Mar-13 18:29:35

Evening all,

Hope everyone is having a good weekend smile
One night next week I am off to frankie and benny's (I know its bad!!!) I want to have the bbq chicken pizza but haven't a clue how many syns are in it, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

lilmamma Sat 23-Mar-13 18:52:26

hello, i joined slimming world 9 weeks ago and have lost 17lb, but put a pound on last week, but it was my 50th Birthday, iam on the extra easy, never done this before, and cant believe the amount i can eat, i am also cooking a lot more healthly meals, and make loads of soups and desserts, the half a syn cake is my fav,as i can eat the whole thing over a couple of days smile

Iam starting swimming on thursday with my daughter,as i dont feel too bad in a swimming costume, but not really comfy, so its a matter of out of changing room, and a quick jump in :P got a brilliant pull me in costume with a proper fitting bra from marks and spencers,so every little bit helps with my journey, hope to loose another 2 stone, but know it will probably slow down a bit now.

KissMyGrits Sat 23-Mar-13 19:09:13

Cupcake 100g of BBQ chicken pizza is 10.5 syns, no idea how heavy a F and B's pizza is though!

tigerdriverII Sat 23-Mar-13 21:28:02

Hello all. Won't repeat the messages but what blondes said ^^

V good on eating. Not so good on wine. But I have done walking every day for the past few days, just a mile or so, but that's a mile today I wouldn't have walked and is now 5 miles I wouldn't have walked.,,,

B: leftover spag Bol

L: a piece of ham ( a big piece of meat, not a slice), satsuma, banana

Snack: mugshot and muller light and one of DS's haribo type sweets : ? 1/2 syn?

D: chilli, rice, salad

Drinks: about a bottle of white wine, over the evening, cut with soda If I am good tomorrow, and do more walking, and mon, and tues - hopefully the wine syns won't bite me on the rather too large bumgrin.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 23-Mar-13 21:31:21

b fruit and low fat yog (1)
l chicken rice sweetcorn and salad, roll(b) and butter (2) (harvesters and yummy)
t spag bol and veg and cheese (a)

low syns, very impressed tbh

Kneedeepindaisies Sat 23-Mar-13 21:46:28

Congrats laughalot. Hope they're both doing well.

whoknowswho Sat 23-Mar-13 22:26:18

Just finished off the thorntons continentals (and the red wine) in readiness for the new sw regime that starts tomorrow!!! Nothing can stop me now! New slimmer whoknows here I come!

Cupcake1982 Sun 24-Mar-13 13:25:11

Just a quick question, what do you all count your margarine as? I use flora light and obviously not much. Do I count is as half a syn or one syn? Thanks x

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 24-Mar-13 17:50:05

cupcake, would count as 1

b fruit (again)
l sweet potato and mince and veg
s sb so thats my a plus 4

need some tea ideas

beanandspud Sun 24-Mar-13 17:58:31

Cupcake afraid you need to count it. Since I stopped having bread (too many syns) I don't have margarine either!

Pretty good today...

B - pineapple and yogurt
L - mashed potato with leftover tomato and butter bean casserole from last night
D - SW fish pie with veg

Yogurt and fruit as snacks.

I made this last night. Used fry light instead of olive oil and replaced the pork sausages with quorn ones (no chorizo) and butter beans instead of aduki beans - it was really good served with 'free' mash.

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 24-Mar-13 18:20:23

bean, im the same, avoid bread unless have b and a roll - i object to losing 6 syns over a slice of bloody bread

dont get why you can have as much carbs via potato/pasta/rice/cous cous yet cant have free bread [hhm]

laughalot Sun 24-Mar-13 18:39:11

Bread pees me off way to many syns !!!!!!!!!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 24-Mar-13 18:44:44

After you have had your b - all bread is syned

Heavily so sad

Is there something controversial about wholemeal bread now?

KissMyGrits Sun 24-Mar-13 19:53:49

I know, I'm a breadaholic, especially artisan bread like sourdough, honey oat and sundried tomato. Mmmmmmm....

Today was good
B: Fruit salad and muller light
L: Chicken salad
D: Beef roast (1.5 syns for gravy)

Hexa: milk hexb: alpen light

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 24-Mar-13 22:19:51

i read northern reply, cant rem what is was, but didnt think it was advertising stuff - so why was her reply deleted hmm

They asked if wholemeal bread was a syn confused

beanandspud Sun 24-Mar-13 22:37:14

Well done on the weigh in Furball thats fab!
Is the cheesy ham and pasta bake out of this months mag? If it is thats the one I was thinking of giving a try, looks good smile

Well I had a rubbish nights sleep (not sure why) however since I joined sw on Thurs generally I have been sleeping so much better, I think its because i'm not eating all the sugar that I was.

I am dragging hubby and my little girl(5) out for a walk today so we all get some fresh air and I can burn off some cals!!!!

Furball Mon 25-Mar-13 08:59:27

GirlFryDay Mon 25-Mar-13 13:29:21

hi all!!

reading this thread I am so inspired to start again... i am not comfortable in group meetings - cant understand why... but thus it is..
Seven stone to lose. Hell. Heck. Dammit & F*ck!
Me and DH both work full time with 3 dc's but i know that i have plenty of time outisde of work to tackle this.
On medication for anxiety as well as on the mini-pill - certainly not a good combo for weight loss! that and the 3-4 bottles of wine per week.
Doc gave off to me several months ago that i needed to take some time for myself and take better care. Still not started. Find it hard.

GirlFryDay Mon 25-Mar-13 13:31:25

Thing is I hate the flavour of artificial sweetener... and i dont like berries grin so i am a bit more limited in terms of snacking. Some proper research is called for but have job interview tomorrow so it will have to wait a few more days...
I look forward to joining you properly soon smile

Furball Mon 25-Mar-13 13:35:21

do it girlfryday - fab name!

Head down, small steps.........don't look to the end, look to the first goal - 1/2 stone? or maybe the first .7 or 0 number on the scale.

meal plan, shop, do it. It's such a good diet as you are never hungry, there is always something free for you to fill up on. smile

Furball Mon 25-Mar-13 13:38:49

I don't sweetners either - I have sugar and syn it. 1 syn a teaspoon

Your syns, your choice

and if you don't like little berries, there is a whole choice of other fruits out there.

Good luck with the interview

GirlFryDay Mon 25-Mar-13 13:45:44

thanks Furball... i much prefer veg/salads so i'll prob stick with those in the main.. i like bananas and eat one every day.
i dont have a sweet tooth at all and am lucky that way still doesnt stop me eating sweets randomly tho

Agree re the sugar.... i love 1/2 tsp in coffee and def want to keep that going!

Small steps... I am 37 and the weight has taken 10 years to creep up...

beanandspud Mon 25-Mar-13 13:50:05

Go for it GirlFryDay! We're all in it together on here, most of us taking it a very small step at a time but we're getting there and celebrating the small successes as well as the bigger ones.

Lots of free stuff to snack on.

Don't wait, can you start tomorrow? <<bossy>>

BadRoly Mon 25-Mar-13 14:03:07

Afternoon! All going to pot... But quick question - I missed yesterday's healthy extras by accident. Can I have them today?!

GirlFryDay Mon 25-Mar-13 15:40:12

beanandspud - ok will have SW friendly dinner and drink lots of water... no time like the present!

I've finally given in and eaten the cream egg I've been dreaming of for weeks grin not the trick is not to eat a second one..

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 25-Mar-13 18:58:10

welcome girlfry - there are a few of us,me included that do at home without a group

badroly - i dont think so tbh sad eat or lose them

fish - dont like creme eggs, sickly things envy thats sick not envy lol

laughalot Mon 25-Mar-13 20:27:03

Evening everyone and welcome to the newbies. Weighed this morning and lost a 1lb so that is 1 stone 8lb so far. Finally bought a pair of size 14 work trousers as my friend said at work on saturday that I looked like I had s**t myself in my 16s so went to tesco and bought some new ones. Great feeling.

Break - porridge
Lunch - home made soup/muller
dinner - steak/roasted veg/potatoes
curly wurly

iklboo Mon 25-Mar-13 20:31:18

2lb off this week. 1.5 stone in total <does Snoopy dance> smile

KissMyGrits Mon 25-Mar-13 20:41:00

Well done laughalot and iklboo!

3girls1madboy Mon 25-Mar-13 21:25:52

Well done laughalot and iklboo! I'm on track this week....I'm having the same problem with my trousers. And I got a lovely compliment at work, the girls have said the weight loss is really showing grin

B-natural yog and blueberries
L- crackerbread (heb) and Philly light (2 Syns)
D- spag Bol

5 whispa bites...not sure the syn value, but must be about 6.
DD1 made a gingerbread house, with a marshmallow igloo, and the temptation to not munch my way thought it was so big! I did have one marshmallow smile but I don't count that

androbbob Mon 25-Mar-13 21:56:03

Evening - had a rather hectic week and limited internet connection (blaming the Sky box for that) and was naughty with hot cross buns and pizza! Managed to get to a WI today, not my usual one, but at least I went! Gained half a pound - not bothered as will be extra good this week!

Plan is to lose a stone before end of may when grits and I go on holiday to Center Parcs!! grin. However, she will be the slinky one and I will skulking in the trees trying to avoid her!!

Will try and catch up with all the posts and be back in reporting for losses tomorrow!

BadRoly Mon 25-Mar-13 23:04:46

Well done Laughalot and iklboo grin

This week could go either way for me tbh. I haven't been terrible but I haven't been great either. Ah well, lets see what Weds brings...

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 25-Mar-13 23:48:32

Yah ikiboo and laughalot

So envy at 1.5stonr

Androb that's an incy gain and will easily come off next week

Furball Tue 26-Mar-13 06:37:05

* ikiboo* and laughalot - well done smile

KissMyGrits Tue 26-Mar-13 07:11:04

androb I am so excited, only 9 weeks I think! I have all my activities booked and restaurants, went and looked at the menu and my eye was immediately drawn to the most SW friendly options. Will most likely partake in way to much alcohol though!

My weight loss has slowed to 1.5lbs a week, but I'm being more realistic as to what my diet will be like when I hit my target. I should still be in decent shape by Center Parcs, although Easters coming up so maybe not!

Just had my first Alpen light bar, aren't they lovely smile

B: fruit and fat free fromage frais/sweetener

L: bachelor chicken rice (about 3/4)

Snack: melon, satsuma and Alpen light x 2 (heB). Coffee and tea with milk (HeA)

T: roast chicken, mash, broccoli cauliflower carrots and gravy (1)

BadRoly Tue 26-Mar-13 16:36:39

Evening grin

Did I see somewhere in here someone had a recipe for fajitas? I figure they are ok if I just eat the meat and veg without the wrap, cheese and guacamole?

So as I have no Old El Paso in the cupboard, what seasoning etc do any of you use please?

DoubleIndemnity Tue 26-Mar-13 16:48:45

Hello all
Well good news from me, lost 4lbs in my first week! you may recall doing it via the online system as have had enough of the dreaded "groups".
Really pleased with that, although have gone at it hell for leather and not sure if I can maintain the momentum - was only aiming for 2lbs and am sure it will be less next week.
Am going on hols on 8 April and wanted to have lost about 5lbs by then so going well.
Am now getting used to the EE plan and am really liking it although I do struggle with only 1 of each HE (could have 2 on green plan)
Have to have lunch out tomorrow with a friend who from past experience will not be happy if she thinks I am trying to lose weight as she is "bigger" than I am and has made the odd comment to me in the past - you know the sort of thing "What? You? Dieting? You're fine as you are..."
Any thoughts on how to deal with this?
The reason I think I have done so well this week is that I've been mostly at home with no outside influences.
I will be looking for something EE on the menu tomorrow like fish with veg or salad and I may have a gin and slimline or a small glass of red. TBH it's the friend I'm worried about more than the food.
Crazy isn't it?
Finding all your meal plans and diaries really inspiring. Someone asked about the cheesy ham pasta bake from the latest mag - I made it and it was yummy.

DoubleIndemnity Tue 26-Mar-13 16:53:58

Blondes - hiya! What in the world is diet coke chicken - sounds intriguing? Got a recipe?
And can someone fill me in on Alpen Light bars? Think I saw them in local shop - are they a HE?
Disappointed I can't get the SW Hi-Fi Bars as I don't go to a class - anyone found a way round that?

Furball Tue 26-Mar-13 17:29:20

Double - well done on your loss

Nice friend you have! - Not sure how you deal with it, unless you just say the blah blah and salad sounds really nice, I think I'll have that. and say no more?

and when it comes to pudding, say you are full to the brim, I'll just have a coffee.

Alpen light - make sure they are the light ones, are 2 = HE2 or 3 syns each. I have the chocolate and Fudge flavour and they are really nice.

and diet coke chicken recipe = here

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 26-Mar-13 17:57:51

fish - tbh i dont think much of alpens lights sad prefer to use my b on a brown roll or some kind of cereal

roly - i had fahitas the other week, was yummy, tho did have a wrap, but the chicken, peppers, onions all free, had cheese as my a and salasa think was 2

never did work out the syn value for the wrap, but was well worth it

double - fab loss, well done smile and diet coke chicken is so scrummy, tastes like bbq sauce, it thickens after 30ish mins cooking - i add peppers, onions and sweetcorn or frozen veg to mine

nice with pasta/rice/noodles or over a jacket - i add a crumbled stock cube to furballs recipe - it really tastes fab and so bad but totally sun free smile

gave to oh once, said it was yum, though when i said made with diet coke/pepsi max he was then disgusted grin

can also make sweet and sour chicken, same recipe but use sugar free fanta and add pineapple at end

b fruit
l sweet potato and chickpea curry and rice
t lasagne - made with cheese sauce (8syns but makes 4 portions so 2 each) using my a for milk and cabbage

oh hAving garlic bread, but im not as waste of syns tbh and prefer crisps smile

s yog and hobnob (bad friend made me eat it) grin think 2 syns

KissMyGrits Tue 26-Mar-13 18:10:32

Double she sounds a bit jealous, you don't need to explain yourself to her.

fish I love the choc and fudge Alpen lights.

3girls1madboy Tue 26-Mar-13 18:53:58

Blondes, a wrap is about 15 Syns!!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 26-Mar-13 18:58:53

<blondes faints>

3girls1madboy Tue 26-Mar-13 19:40:13

Tell me about it...I thought they would be at least better than bread confused

beanandspud Tue 26-Mar-13 19:52:17

New Alpen light lemon drizzle bars are scrummy! grin

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 26-Mar-13 20:19:37

a days worth of syns on a wary

or i could have

crisps 4
yog 1
sb (with milk allowance) 4
7 gins and diet coke 7

fuck a duck

no more wraps for me !!!!

Furball Tue 26-Mar-13 20:25:55

I'd like to change my menu plan to try this diet coke chicken (HE2) for saturday, but will have to do it with breasts. and thought SW chips and sw coleslaw would be good.

Hi all just reporting a 2lb loss for Monday. Still have not hit my stone sad oh well slow and steady etc, yadda yadda. Must try harder and do more exercise. Worried about Easter weekend , booked a cottage in Somerset already got Dinner booked for friday in Ask and DH busy looking around for a pub for Sunday and talking about Bakery/ chip shops arrgghh

next sale stuff came and I am back in size 16 trousers my naturally massive so pleased at this!

3girls1madboy Tue 26-Mar-13 21:06:38

Exactly blondes. I blew a whole weekends worth, at the beginning. Worse thing is that my dm partner, works for a well known maker of wraps and we get loads for nowt!!

Well done smelly! I hate that the loss has slowed down, but I'm doing Zumba, which I love, and I'm starting to notice my body shape again grin I have curves, not rolls

Curves not rolls I like that one, they laughed at me today at work when it transpired I did not realise the waist was a muscle ! Obviously I thought my waist was just a 'roll'!

tigerdriverII Tue 26-Mar-13 22:03:04

Hi all. Have been distracted by filthy weather then work. Had WI today and...I lost 2.5 lbs. so hooray, watching the syns really carefully and walking most days has paid off. I am now 2 stone 11.5 away from target, but have lost 1stone 9.5, so more than 1/3 there....

Just realised that 2st 11.5 is 39.5 lbs. that sounds even more manageable. If I could do 2lb a week, it would take 5 months......getting near there by Xmas will do me though....

Wow tiger, that's fantastic smile

iklboo Tue 26-Mar-13 22:14:35

SW website says Discovery wraps (wholemeal or white) are 8 syns each. Unless you had the really mahoosive ones?

androbbob Tue 26-Mar-13 22:15:19

blondes - yes I am on a mission to lsoe 2lbs this week. Been to gym yesterday, had lovely salad for lunch with hard boiled egg and then syn free spring rolls and stir fry veg for tea - made with canelloni tubes, but should have cooked them for longer. Been for a long walk today to get a present, plus my usual walking around site.

kissmygrits - we too have booked some activities - horse riding and pico sailing for DD and family football for the big and small boys. Booked Hucks for tea on the Thursday, but nothing else - hoping the weather will be good and can spend time outside on some of the trails. Hoping to take the bikes too.

Sounds like everyone is having a good start to the week - not bad considering the poor weather we are having. Spring should be round the corner ... please!!

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 26-Mar-13 22:25:55

Well done smelly and tiger smile

Furball. Try the diet coke chicken. Sooooo nice Gonna have tomorrow as well as made loads yesterday

KissMyGrits Wed 27-Mar-13 06:48:19

androb We're at Hucks for tea on the Thursday! I'll be the one with a long island ice tea debating wether to go nuts and have a burger or stick to steak and baked potato!

Well done smelly and tiger!

I lost 1.8lbs and have hit my interim target and officially lost 2 stone! Bumped into DD's teacher from last year and she noticed I'd lost weight which was lovely!

ArtemisKelda Wed 27-Mar-13 06:59:13

Morning all. I have a night out on Saturday and I'm after options of what to drink. I can either A- be driver and not drink, or B- stay local & have a few. If I stay local, I'll have dry white wine topped up with soda water & try and persuade BFF to walk the mile between pubs grin

What's the best low syn option if I'm driving, I can't drink diet cola.

Furball Wed 27-Mar-13 07:23:21

wowsers there have been some excellent loses this week - well done to all.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 27-Mar-13 07:29:07

Kelda. Avoid wine. Very high in syns. Spirits better with diet coke (tho said you can't have that) or diet tonic water

Same for driving - soda water or diet tonic

Pubs don't generally do diet lemonade unless in small bottles sad never on pump sad

Thinks becks blue is low - maybe 1 syn a bottle

iklboo Wed 27-Mar-13 07:46:09

Making the KFC alike for tea tonight with SW chips & slaw. Uncle Jack Daniels is popping by tonight for a short visit so I'm saving my syns.

ArtemisKelda Wed 27-Mar-13 08:18:15

Thanks Blondes, another daft question here, can I save up syns for a night out? Can't you tell I'm in my 1st week grin

Furball Wed 27-Mar-13 09:23:09

ArtemisKelda - Yes I think you can save your syns, but then shouldn't expect a huge loss.

BadRoly Wed 27-Mar-13 11:22:11

2lb off grin shared SotW with 4 others!! Feeling in a very good head space as only 1.5lb until 2 stone loss and 1lb until interim target!!!!

Shame Easter weekend is coming up...

obrigada Wed 27-Mar-13 11:36:54

A wrap is 15 syns ... passes out in shock and disappointment ... have been having a wrap almost daily <<disappointed emoticon>>

GirlFryDay Wed 27-Mar-13 13:26:32

hi All!!

Ok so need advice/ideas re yoghurts... Just had a Fat Free Activia - boketastic. Also dont like Muller Lights either!

Anyone recommend any low-ish syn yogs?

newpup Wed 27-Mar-13 13:33:02

Shape fat free rhubarb/apple and custard 0.5 syns great for pudding. I love muller fat free greek style and I hate muller light. The greek style are creamy and yum. 0.5 syns each, morello cherry are fab!

GirlFryDay Wed 27-Mar-13 13:51:47

thanks newpup will give the Greek Style a go... Spelga low fat yoghurts here in NI are 6 syns I think - just not worth it!

KissMyGrits Wed 27-Mar-13 14:27:21

Well done badroly

Today I forced myself to the gym smile
Brunch: omelette with one egg and a big glug of egg whites from a carton and some beans

Snack: mullerlight and melon

Snack: 2 Alpen lights (heB)

Tea: smoked haddock pea risotto

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 27-Mar-13 16:34:24

i save syns, as in eat more on a friday/saturday, and i count the weeks, ie 105 instead of 15 a day

generally works

b fruit
l turkeymince spag bol and veg
t diet coke chicken and veg and rice

s fruit and yog

Furball Wed 27-Mar-13 18:21:02

Salmon fishcakes = really nice, I used tinned red salmon, missed out the lemon instead I added some steamed spring onion and served with mushy peas a few sw chips and a dollop of ketchup

Pete’s Salmon Fishcakes

Serves 4

400g potatoes/ 2 large potatoes (ff)
140g fresh salmon/ 2 salmon fillets (ff)
1 handful of parsley
1 lemon (ss)(sff)

Peel and cut the potatoes and boil them in salted water in a large saucepan, after 10mins put a bamboo steamer or a colander, on top of the saucepan, with the salmon in it, seasoned with salt & pepper, if using a colander cover with cooking foil to allow the salmon to steam. Cook for a further 10 mins.

When the potatoes and the salmon are cooked then remove the salmon, flake it and remove the skin, and place in a grass dish, drain the potatoes and then return to the pan, mash and allow to cool.

Add the potatoes, lemon rind & juice, parsley and salt & pepper, scup up in your hand a portion of the mix and form into a fishcake, adjusting them to a size that suits you.

Place into a fridge to allow them to stiffen.

Spray a frying pan with Fry Light and cook until browned, turn over and repeat.

iklboo Wed 27-Mar-13 19:56:26

K Fake C pretty tasty. I'll have less cayenne pepper next time though.

where can i find fake kfc ? i am weighing a day early tomorrow on account of good Friday, not expecting miracles as haven't got out for a run since Sunday and last night tea was at the Toby carvery and i had a everything angry . today i hue had an ee day but then just realised i had two bs today so that's blew today too.

today i have had:
two weetbix
shop small sushi
a ham sandwich
baked potato with beans and chicken breast for tea.

not brilliant!

BadRoly Wed 27-Mar-13 20:17:38

Evening grin I am feeling full on motivated today - could all go wrong but today is positive!

So far I have had:
B-apple, banana, Mullerlight
S-banana, black coffee x2, apple
L-pasta, tuna, sweetcorn, 2 light blue laughing cow (1/2 heA),water
S-grapes, Alpen light bar (1/2 heB), 3 chocolate eggs (weighed in at 23g so 6.5syns).
T-jacket, beans, 2 sausages (3syns each), carrots. Water, peppermint tea, 1 rich tea biscuit (2 syns)
So as long as I stay focused I'm on 14.5 syns for today. I am planning to have another light bar (1/2heB) and 1 baby bel (1/2heA) later when I'm getting the supper time bored munchies...

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 27-Mar-13 20:43:40

no you - kfc

Morning everyone, been a while since I was on here, keep stopping and starting so no brainer really that my weight hasn't gone down, am using SW online and started on "express week" this morning. Had omelette with tomato, mushrooms, onions and red pepper.

I've convinced my husband to give slimming world a go. I'm always home for lunch so have lots of options but can anyone suggest low syn on the go lunches or packed lunch style ideas for him please?

laughalot Thu 28-Mar-13 11:43:41

How about some homemade soup yum yum and no syns.

yes yes homemade soup smile
today i have put on like thirty grams this day early weigh in, ah well the diet goes on ...

iklboo Thu 28-Mar-13 17:45:44

Juicy Lucy burgers & sweet potato wedges for tea tonight.

Big Breakfast planned for tomorrow. Bacon (no fat), low fat sausage (1syn), black pudding (2syns), mushrooms & tomatoes. Yum.

Furball Thu 28-Mar-13 18:25:41

the Bucantini all'Amatriciania - on page 58 of march/april mag is delish - I only used half the bacon, thought 16 rashers and 4 pancetta strips abit over the top.

Would be nice with chicken as well smile

beanandspud Thu 28-Mar-13 18:26:19

Hello all

Sorry haven't been around much, too many work things and despite being good with food I have had far too much wine. Again blush.

Well done to those of you that have lost this week grin.

B - yogurt and strawberries
L - vegetable soup (homemade with no fat and lot of beans/lentils etc)
S - fruit, three dark rye ryvita with cottage cheese (syns), one Alpen light bar
D - leftover veggie biriyani

Not sure how Easter weeekend will pan out though, think I might be 'relaxing' the rules somewhat and come back to the plan properly on Tuesday.

Has anyone got anything nice planned for the weekend?

BadRoly Thu 28-Mar-13 18:49:53

Beans we have nothing much planned - just looking forwards to doing stuff all together (dh works away Mon-Thurs). We're in Cornwall so plenty to do grin

I am not going to sweat it if I fall off the plan, April includes Easter eggs wink, dh's birthday, our wedding anniversary, ds1's birthday, my bf's dh's 60th party and my Mum coming down for 2 weeks...

My goal is not to put on too much rather than try and lose!

I must admit im a little concerned about the impact of easter, i am of with the dc a lot of it as is dh who likes to treat us to eating out when on hols then to add to it i gave up chocolate for lent and have a ton of it looking at me willing it to be easter sunday - oh dear will this be the unravelling of me?

iklboo Thu 28-Mar-13 19:24:58

Had a short notice invitation to friends tomorrow night. We're taking a syn free chicken tikka massala & onion bhajis, they're making SW friendly lamb curry & poppadums. The only real syns will be the drink I suppose. We'll try to be good. grin

BadRoly Thu 28-Mar-13 19:26:54

NoYou - as I see it, this is something I want to maintain for life. Which means that there will be fluctuations and some weeks will be a write off. I think if we can accept that and not beat ourselves up for eating our body weight in chocolate one weekend, then we will achieve our target weights eventually AND THEN MAINTAIN THEM FOR GOOD!

I realise I am the person who this time last week was sobbing over custard creams but I was having a very very baaaad week last week emotionally!

KissMyGrits Thu 28-Mar-13 19:37:54

I'm relaxing this Easter as DD is insisting on hot cross buns tomorrow, we have lunch out planned and I'm possibly going to my Mums on Sunday which will mean too much wine.

Badroly couldn't agree more about it being a lifetime change we will fluctuate, I'm just in a rush to get it off before hols. As long as we don't permanently slip back into old habits the odd weekend of indulgence is fine!

Cupcake1982 Thu 28-Mar-13 19:39:10

Evening ladies,

Well I had my first weigh in today and lost 5.5 lbs smile

your totally right, it is a celebration weekend it just needs to be in moderation, so i might put on a pound but easy on easy off andgrin can you tell i have my first wine in six weeks smile

beanandspud Thu 28-Mar-13 20:09:31

Well done Cupcake grin

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 28-Mar-13 20:11:27

tigerdriverII Thu 28-Mar-13 20:39:58

cupcake - well done, that's such a good start.

Well, feeling pretty positive ATM. I now have a walking buddy at work, we are donning our leggings and doing half hour walks, briskly, twice a week. I suspect she's a MN (we had a chat today about things that make you feel grown up, it was basically a MN thread!). So am on track with exercise and food and drink is ok, I have had a couple of vodka and sodas in the last couple of days, tonight is wine night, but then off to my mums, she has just taken the pledge. However after 60+ years of drinking what she likes, I am a bit sceptical. Have a great Easter everyone!

androbbob Thu 28-Mar-13 22:17:31

cupcake well done that is fab!

blondes - big hugs to you - but today is one of those days to sod SW. Your emotional needs were greater than any weightloss this week, so dont beat yourself up with your WI tomorrow.

struggling this week - planned to be really good, but sucumbed to a creme egg - really not worth the 9.5 syns. Going to see One Direction on Sunday and have booked Pizza Hut for me and DD - she wanted Piza Express but was fully booked. At least at the Hut you get free salad, so will get a piza between us - she likes just cheese, and fill up on salad and diet coke!

KissMyGrits Fri 29-Mar-13 07:45:29

Blondes I'm so sorry. Just relax and do what you need to do, no need to worry about anything else at a time like this. I would just take the weekend to relax if I were you, get back on it next week.

Oh Blondes.. That's really sad. Be kind to yourself smile

Happy Easter everyone. I just weighed in a day early as we are away tonight and after 3 weeks of only losing a 1/2 lb despite lots of gym and sticking to plan I am down 3lb today grin grin grin

4 and 1/2 lb to target now.

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 29-Mar-13 11:08:52

i gained a lb sad and if i hadnt of had chocolate/cakes/crisps etc yesterday maybe i would have sts

pissed off with myself - yesterday was just a date but i struggled and now gained again

im a bloody yo yo dieter sad

KissMyGrits Fri 29-Mar-13 13:55:24

Blondes it wasn't just a date, it was a time to remember something and let yourself be sad. Don't be hard on yourself.

I just had lunch out and came home and had an M and S belgian chocolate hot cross bun, mini so it was only 4.5 syns and I'm working tonight so that kept me off the wine. However, lunch at my Mums on Sunday will include sandwiches, cakes, crisps and dips. The only SW friendly foods are bananas and grapes! Oh well, hopefully I'll get a STS this week!

Furball Fri 29-Mar-13 16:26:11

blondes - sad Don't be hard on yourself - a) it's Easter fgs, most here will be struggling to even stay the same and with yesterday added into your factor as well. You need some TLC smile

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 29-Mar-13 16:49:02

thanks all - i actually am not a fan of chocolate much tbh - doesnt bother me, apart from when a) emotional b) due on

i did see that a creme egg was think 9.5syns - what a waste

Cupcake1982 Fri 29-Mar-13 17:54:11

Blondes, sorry to hear you've had a tough time, I agree though don't be too hard on yourself.

Saturday night I am off for a pizza and wine night with the family (at my brothers) plus not any old pizza dominos!!!!!

I have decided to give the pizza a miss (my fav!!!) but I will have the wine smile I have been told a bottle of wine is approx 30 syns?
Yesterday I used no syns and I am going to do my best to use none today so hopefully i'll be ok.

Fisharefriends - Well done on your weight loss smile

beanandspud Fri 29-Mar-13 19:49:56

Well done fisharefriends. Great start grin.

Have been pretty good today, we went to yo sushi for tea which is fairly SW friendly and the food is great. Had just had fruit, yogurt and vegetable soup up til then so not too much damage done. Resisted the scones with jam and clotted cream at local garden place.

Can I recommend Heston's Earl Grey and Lemon gin - I got given a bottle and have been enjoying it with diet tonic which I think is a better option than all the wine I usually drink!

The rest of the weekend may go to pot though. Going to some friends for tea and I am making chocolate pudding for dessert wink, I have also promised DS I would bake some buns with him.

beanandspud Sat 30-Mar-13 09:34:26

Don't quite know how but have lost 4lb this morning - two that I put on last week and two more! grin

BadRoly Sat 30-Mar-13 10:58:15

Morning, just popping in briefly to let you know I have decided to go off plan completely over this weekend! No food diary (which is naughty as I need to keep it for other reasons) and eating what I fancy - chocolate spread toast anyone?! grin

Have a lovely Easter weekend everyone x

Blondes - I have no wise words but I will send a very unmumsnetty hug xx

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 30-Mar-13 12:40:39

well done bean smile fab loss smile

thanks for kind words everyone, have kicked myself up again and will try and carry on with sw again - did have chinese last night and full fat crisps, but wiping that day off and thursday lol

b fruit and yog (1)
l sausage (2)/eggs/beans

not sure of tea yet

Furball Sat 30-Mar-13 13:06:36

yes fab stuff bean

I had omelette, jacket and homemade coleslaw for lunch - coleslaw was really good.

I've got a kenwood mini chopper and threw in a carrot, a stick of celery, a spring onion and some white cabbage, then mixed with a very small blob of low fat mayo

have chilli going in the croc pot for tea

KissMyGrits Sat 30-Mar-13 22:16:04

I'm on about 20 syns so far today, not too bad! Expecting 20-30 tomorrow!

beanandspud Sat 30-Mar-13 22:18:20

Roly I'll take your chocolate spread and raise you a simnel muffin, a piece of chocolate brownie cake, some goats cheese, mini eggs and 'proper' roast potatoes! grin

Back to normal on Tuesday!

Cheers everyone wine <<hic>>

how many syns do you reckon in half am Easter dig shell, like a average smaller size egg ?

KissMyGrits Sat 30-Mar-13 22:39:44

noyou probably about 13, I think I saw somewhere that an easter egg is about 26.

Looks like we're all off the wagon this week, will be interesting to see if there's any losses this week I will be envy if there is!

i will have that for my breakfast then grin

KissMyGrits Sun 31-Mar-13 09:14:17

I like your style!

iklboo Sun 31-Mar-13 11:28:10

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 31-Mar-13 13:45:03

ikiboo - same here

'blonde narrows eyes and spies wagon in faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar distance'

blonde polishs halo

but i did eat half a chocolate thorntons reindeer from xmas yesterday blush

b fruit
l chilli prawn linguini

BadRoly Sun 31-Mar-13 14:29:37

Oh my goodness - I feel sick! Toasted hot cross buns for breakfast. Followed by a birthday party buffet for lunch (mini samosas, bhaji, pancake rolls, pizza, crisps...). I've just eaten the birthday cake from the kids' party bags too.

I really do feel like Mr Creosote... But, BUT! Once upon a time ^^^ would have been normal everyday type eating! So it is good to have a blow out but also good to now be thinking "mmmmmm tomorrow I can have something a bit less stodgy!"

Who is this person and what have they done with the old Roly?!

Cupcake1982 Sun 31-Mar-13 15:50:26

Happy Easter smile

So far I have resisted the chocolate however my dad has just visited with a box of chocs from hotel chocolate!!!!!

Wishfulmakeupping Sun 31-Mar-13 16:02:06

Hello ladies! Am starting sw on thurs gave birth 8 weeks ago. Between now and thurs I'm loading up on Easter eggs ;)

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 31-Mar-13 19:04:11

Welcome wishful

Pig out and then join us smile

I've resisted chocolate all day .......

beanandspud Sun 31-Mar-13 19:54:50

Happy Easter smile

I feel well and truly stuffed! Just had a big roast dinner followed by Easter muffin thingy. Haven't had a huge amount of chocolate today but did share a bit of DS's egg (I didn't get any eggs which I think is a good thing?)

Roly. I feel a bit like you, I've enjoyed having a weekend 'off plan' but determined not to let it slip into a week off. We are out tomorrow night for an Italian but that's generally SW-friendly as I usually have pasta and tomato-based sauce.

Well done Blondes - you're putting me to shame!

Welcome Wishful - by Thursday we'll all be back on the SW wagon again...

iklboo Mon 01-Apr-13 10:36:12

3lb. OFF!!!! I have no idea how as I've been a bit naughty but I'm soooooo chuffed. Got my club 10 and down into the next stone. Yay! <does snoopy dance>. smile

Furball Mon 01-Apr-13 10:38:36

oh WOW iklboo - i chickened out this morning [naughty]

3girls1madboy Mon 01-Apr-13 12:30:32

My regular Thursday group closed, as no consultant, so have changed to a Monday. WI this morning and sts, which after this weekend I am VERY pleased with grin
Biggest problem now is Monday wi, means I have to be extra good at weekends wink

Well done iklboo.

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 01-Apr-13 15:41:12

Well done iklboo smile
Is anyone on here EBF or a veggie if so any tips would be fab. I'm going to ring the class consultant and just check its ok to do sw as a breastfeeding veggie not sure how it all works

i totally commend all you who have remained good , i have eaten a fair amount of chocolate and remained good ish elsewhere , i figure now its the sooner its gone the sooner i can get back on the wagon.

BadRoly Mon 01-Apr-13 18:06:39

Well, I have just weighed in (2days early AND evening rather than morning). Guess how much I have gained?!

KissMyGrits Mon 01-Apr-13 19:23:07

Badroly how much? It will make me feel better when I weigh on Weds!

I wasn't as bad as I thought yesterday, had some buffet food and 2 glasses of wine. No chocolate but I'm kind of desperate for some now instead...

beanandspud Mon 01-Apr-13 20:20:27

Roly I am going to be positive and say, maybe a pound? Whatever the result I would suggest that it's a) too early b) straight after Easter and c) evening and therefore not particularly accurate.

Is everyone else clambering back onto the wagon tomorrow?

beanandspud Mon 01-Apr-13 20:24:11

Sorry, well done Iklboo grin - great result!

Wishful I don't eat meat but do eat fish and I have found loads of veggie SW recipes. I think it should be ok to do whilst bf as it's generally a healthy way of eating, you might be able to have a couple of extra 'healthy extras'.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 01-Apr-13 20:27:56

well done ikiboo

i was good yesterday but today ate chocolate and a roast dinner so been a bad blonde (again)

<sighs and waddles to sit on naughty step>

KissMyGrits Mon 01-Apr-13 21:05:12

Well done iklboo

Definitely back on the wagon tomorrow, just had one last blow out and had half an Easter egg and a glass of wine.

laughalot Mon 01-Apr-13 21:15:24

Went to weigh today and scales were broken it may be to all the choc I have consumed oh dear !!!!!!

BadRoly Mon 01-Apr-13 21:16:07

Well done iklboo grin

Well, the bad news is, and I loved your optimistic 1lb Beans, ...... Drum roll.....

Yes, FIVElb. I have crashed up through my 10% thing, am almost back up into the higher stone and instead of being 1lb off target, I am almost 1/2 stone off target grin

So let that be a warning to you all wink. I have 4 more hot cross buns to finish and then I can reign it back in again. But I have very very much enjoyed all the very bad stuff I have eaten since Thursday grin

BadRoly Mon 01-Apr-13 21:17:03

Or should I have been doing grin?!

androbbob Mon 01-Apr-13 21:18:39

Evening! Slowly eating my own body weight in chocolate here! Did have healthy food inbetween for my meals and I am doing two classes at the gym tomorrow, but even so - these school holidays will be the ruin of me!

Didnt go to WI today as went to Ikea instead (poor excuse)! WIll need to make a concerted effort this week as off with the kids and cant afford to gain any lbs.

How is everyone else doing - chocolate should be banned!!

tigerdriverII Mon 01-Apr-13 21:25:53

Hello wishful welcome on board! Can't give you any EBF tips but veggies are good on this plan.

bean - that's great!

Everybody: don't worry about Easter eggs and general pig outs. Occasionally they happen and sometimes you just swerve around them, especially if they're just one day. I think our bodies just say "nooooo".

So. I have been pretty virtuous. Friday : light breakfast (can't remember), rice, salad and tikka chicken for lunch, steak and chips and salad for supper and a couple of glasses of wine

Saturday : porridge and fruit, fruit salad for lunch and Kung pao chicken from the Asia book for supper and about a gazillion glasses of wine (so partly good, and partly not)

Sunday: salmon and Philly omelette from the last magazine, it was vile I'm afraid, Thai fish cakes, then lemon chicken from the Asia book, very nice. A small taste of DS's Easter egg ( or one of them) - no more than 1 syn.

Today: fruit and yoghurt , then a cheese sandwich using my hea and HEb, then I'm having pasta and salad with smoked salmon and yoghurt sauce. And some wine

Best bit though is the exercise: in the last three days I have done a one and a half hour walk over high hill country, swam for 45 mins , and done ordinary walking for just over an hour.

Fingers crossed for WI tomorrow night. Sorry for long post!

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 01-Apr-13 21:39:23

Oh roly sad

But least you enjoyed / like I did when I gained

Prob be a gain this week as well sad

KissMyGrits Tue 02-Apr-13 08:16:03

Eek Roly are you sure the scales were correct? That sounds like a lot for just one week? Oh well at least it was fun!

I think my only hope this week is all the walking I've done, we'll see tomorrow!

BadRoly Tue 02-Apr-13 08:41:55

Kiss - if I told you what is eaten it would figure! Pretty certain the scales were fine. grin

KissMyGrits Tue 02-Apr-13 08:57:23

Ha! I think I'm just clutching at straws because I plan on eating everything in sight when we go to Center Parcs and drinking copious amounts of alcohol, was living in hope the damage can't be more than a lb or 2. Obviously it can!

rosieposey Tue 02-Apr-13 09:20:12

Hello, can i join you? Really need some people to do this with as i have 6.5 stone to lose sad I tried really hard at the 5.2 diet and it was awful and i was grumpy! I just keep putting on - i literally must be the only person who has put on 19 lbs since having a baby ( he is only 17 weeks old!)

Anyway enough moaning - i will be doing slimming world as i literally cannot bear to be hungry, will follow the extra easy plan and hope to goodness it works smile

I will read back a few pages to get some ideas as im not going to go to class for a few weeks - i have a pretty good idea about extra easy ( one third superfree right?) and today i am going to have no breakfast i know you are supposed to but i have never eaten it and it makes me feel a bit sicky if i eat too early. Lunch * low fat cheese slice, olives, ham, egg, small wholemeal roll, salad* Dinner * bombay potato (made with the schwartz packet mix) chicken curry (4.5 syns for the sauce) free chickpea dahl from asda, rice and salad* - does that sound like rather a lot? It probably is but my apetitie is out of control atm sad hence putting on nearly a stone and a half in 4 months.

Ok well i hope to be with you lovely ladies for the long-haul - looking forward to reading about your successes (and slip ups wink) ill read back on this thread now.

KissMyGrits Tue 02-Apr-13 09:26:17

Welcome Rosie! That doesn't sound like a lot, sounds fine but try to have a breakfast, even if it's just a banana at about 9.30. It'll stop the hunger and the cravings mid morning. The schwartz packet may have some syns in as well so check that out.
You'll definitely lose on EE as long as you stick to it, remember to allow yourself a few syns and a third superfree on each plate.

rosieposey Tue 02-Apr-13 09:41:33

Yes i already checked out the syns in the schwartz - its 4.5 per pack and ill only use half a pack - i am allowing another 4 for my curry ( i use bibijis fresh curry sauce) but thats only 6.5 for a meal and im such a massive curry buff i like them to taste authentic - i think thats been half of my downfall - too many really fatty currys and takeaways!

I will probably eat a mugshot midafternoon anyway as lunch will be early ( 12 ish) and ill be hungry by 3 again - thats probably where i make up my breakfast. I was going to try and stick to 10 syns but if im honest will probably go up to 15 - do you all use your syns every day or can you save them up at all?

beanandspud Tue 02-Apr-13 10:26:10

Welcome Rosie!

Back to normal here thank goodness - definitely on damage limitation for the rest of the week grin

B - Fruit and muller light
L - Jacket and beans
D - Vegetable tagine and couscous. Just put this in the slow cooker minus the honey and apricots and using my HeA for the olive oil.

KissMyGrits Tue 02-Apr-13 10:47:04

Bean That looks good!

Rosie I tend to use about 5 syns a day during the week and 10-15 per day at the weekends, you can save them up. If you're desperate for an indian takeaway rogan josh is about 6.5 syns and boiled rice is free. Also there is a slimming world curry cook book with lots of free or low syn recipes. The chicken tikka massala is amazing!

rosieposey Tue 02-Apr-13 12:17:59

Thanks for the heads up kiss smile and the nice welcoime from everyone else. I tried a couple of their curry recipes and found them a bit bland - i like mine really hot, madras strength usually. The trouble with a real curry takeaway is the amount of Ghee they cook them in, i cant find a single curry dish that doesnt look like its swimming in oil.

Right off for my healthy lunch - have to confess im quite hungry now!

I just made myself throw up in the gym blush thank god made it to the loo thought I was going to pass out which would have been really embarrassing to say the least! Dreading weigh in on Saturday, took the entire weekend off plan. Oh dear ..

tigerdriverII Tue 02-Apr-13 21:34:14

Hello all. badroly. I did such a long post last night ours crossed. Never mind, upwards and onwards.

Sooooo, I had my weigh In tonight and lost 1lb. And amazingly got slimmer of the week! This is what comes of not being bothered by chocolate. I have 38lbs to go, and am 24.5 down.

And hello rosie. Lovely to see you on here!

KissMyGrits Wed 03-Apr-13 06:37:13

Well done tiger you're almost half way there!

Well... I lost 0.8lbs this week, I don't know how, possibly all the tears of shame I shed while stuffing the Easter egg down my throat. Needless to say I'm really pleased it wasn't a gain!

3girls1madboy Wed 03-Apr-13 08:29:41

Well done everyone who has had a loss! Sounds like the scales were wrong Roly!!

I need some positive thinking this next week, the last few days have been awful. My dad visited yesterday and brought cream cakes shock and I had half, and I felt so guilty afterwards....I don't know why I sabotage myself all the time. Anyhoo today is a new day, and where I am the sun is shining again, so a walk to the park to meet chums is on the cards smile

Have a good day folks

beanandspud Wed 03-Apr-13 10:47:12

Well done to Tiger and KissMyGrits In my humble opinion a loss or a sts on Easter week is definitely worth celebrating gringringrin

Just had fruit and yogurt for breakfast, jacket and cottage cheese planned for lunch and have put something that I hope will resemble a veggie chilli in the slow cooker for later!

And I dusted off the treadmill this morning and managed to run 20mins this morning so feeling quite proud of myself. It was very slow but felt ok whether I'll be able to walk tomorrow is another thing altogether.

The sun is shining here too, enjoy your walk 3girls1madboy and don't feel guilty about the cream cakes.

Have a good day everyone!

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 03-Apr-13 14:52:51

afternoon ladies

well done on loss's smile

blondes waddles to naughty step - been at an easter egg party and ate bad stuff sad

Huffpot Wed 03-Apr-13 15:05:55

Hi all. Have done SW before but left as was pregnant.
No longer pregnant so going back to class tonight to find out the damage!

Hi everyone!

Just joining this thread. Today is my first day back on SW. I lost about a stone and a half last summer, then I fell pregnant and sadly miscarried. Then I just ate whatever I wanted for months. So i'm back on it. Currently weigh 14 stone 5 and ideally I want to weigh 11 stones. My first target is 13 stones and then i'll see what happens next.

It's so hard, I've got a lovely Easter egg I've not started yet and a cupboard full of treats. Trying to stay strong.

Also, at work we get free drinks, crisps, and chocolate, so it'll be a challenge

3girls1madboy Wed 03-Apr-13 18:14:57

Welcome Frying and Huff smile

I've had a good day today. Stuck to plan, and used my Syns for a small piece of garlic bread, a few sweets from DD1's pot she got from Thorpe park and 1tblspn of lighter than light mayo. Now I'm off to my favourite activity...Zumba grin I love it!!!

Huffpot Wed 03-Apr-13 18:57:34

fryingpantoface that's what happened to me too but only 5 weeks ago...I lost just over 1.5 stones too last time.
I don't want to let myself eat myself into an even bigger mess than I am after putting it all back on again!

KissMyGrits Wed 03-Apr-13 19:59:42

frying and huff welcome, sorry to hear it's on such sad terms. Great group of ladies here to help you through your weightloss journey.

KissMyGrits Wed 03-Apr-13 20:00:36

Blondes I know what you mean, my weekend off seems to be harder to forget than I wanted. Too easy to slip back to old habits I fear.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 03-Apr-13 20:35:22

Welcome huff and frying - sorry to hear about your mc sad

Kiss - so easy sad have a lovely friend and she loses 3/4lbs every bloody week - yes she is prob 4 stone heavier then me but she eats some of the meal I do or doesn't have 1/3rd super free yet loses

Not bloody fair sad

laughalot Wed 03-Apr-13 22:24:57

Welcome frying and huff sorry to hear your news. Frying on the 7th Jan I started at 14 5 and im now 12 9 so little steps and you can achieve xxx

Furball Thu 04-Apr-13 07:17:21

OK truth time - I've been off plan for a few days, well since frigging easter. I haven't been too outrageous, but chocolate may have been involved wink

I'm off away today until Sunday so............will be probably off plan til then. I won't go wild but, the aim is to gain as least as possible. hmm

Huffpot Thu 04-Apr-13 08:18:43

Thats really good laughalot

I rejoined last night and am a stone heavier than my last WI shock so back on plan today!

shelly13 Thu 04-Apr-13 09:57:23

Hi all ! Ive just started sw last week . Got weighed yesterday and lost 2lb pleased with that . Was a bit shocked for my first week but stuck to it . I must say what a great program , I can't believe what u can eat !

DoubleIndemnity Thu 04-Apr-13 10:22:02

Hi everyone and well done on your losses. I think I've finally got my head around the EE plan at last and lost another 2lbs in my second week, so feeling good about that. Just about managed to get through the Easter weekend - my kids are older now so not so many choccy things around the house! Having a couple of nights away from home in hotel where my DH is on business - enjoying SW cooked breakfasts which I'd probably never do at home.
I've found myself doing a silly thing I saw in the previous SW magazine - setting 2 glass jars out, with shells in them. I put 14 in one jar (although I am unlikely to lose a stone) and am transferring them over to the other jar, one shell per pound lost - so now 10 in one jar, 4 in the other. Have even tied pretty ribbons round them (am I sad?). But they are on my kitchen window ledge and so very much in the line of sight when preparing food and drink! Have drawn the line though at putting "motivational" labels on them - my family would lay into me!
Hell, I'll be making my own quilts next....
Anyway, wish you all a good week - still finding all your posts a huge support xx

beanandspud Thu 04-Apr-13 10:29:50

Welcome to Huff and Frying - I'm sorry to hear of your losses.

Managed a 20min run again this morning - I promised myself this year that I wouldn't do the whole January 'go crazy on a diet and fitness campaign and then give up after 3 weeks' and that I would try to sort out my eating habits first. Three months in I do think I need to introduce some regular exercise as I have a job that involves spending most of the day sitting on my rather large backside grin

B - Yogurt and fruit
L - Jacket with veggie chilli (did it in the slow cooker yesterday - really good)
D - Pasta and tomato/veg/tuna sauce

beanandspud Thu 04-Apr-13 10:31:25

Well done Double and Shelly - fab losses grin

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 04-Apr-13 15:33:20

shelley and double - well done on your loss's

furball - im the same 'sighs'

b fruit
l spah bol and tons of veg
t pork, sw sweet potato chips carrot/swede mash (butter 2)

Cupcake1982 Thu 04-Apr-13 17:18:42

Afternoon all,
Just a quick message to report my second weigh in resulted in a 3 lbs loss and a slimmer of the week award.
I'm really pleased as thats 8.5 lbs in 2 weeks smile

Hope everyone is having a good day.

iklboo Thu 04-Apr-13 17:44:52

Well done Cupcake.

Tonight's tea - ginger & soy salmon stir fry. Was supposed to be with noodles but we'd run out so we had rice instead. V tasty & only 1/2 a syn.

Well done to all with losses smile

B: 2 fried eggs on wholemeal (heB)
L: chicken and peppers with salad cream (1)
T: chicken curry and rice

Now enjoying a large cool Pinot Grigio

spottymoo Thu 04-Apr-13 20:15:08

I'm now 1 stone 8 down in 8 weeks which I'm really pleased with but I've hit my brick wall were I start thinking ill be better off doing ww so I can eat more bread.

My main problem is lunches I'm at home but its driving me mad that I'm having to cook every lunch time and struggle with the super free.

I shop for me dh and dd and we eat fruit and veg but theirs only so much my budget will allow I struggle with fruit as I only like strawberries nectarines grapes peaches which aren't cheap to keep restocking.

So what do you all eat at lunch were your not doing a full meal.

I use my B option for breakfast so no quick sandwiches which is what I'm missing

Any help appreciated

androbbob Thu 04-Apr-13 21:08:32

Evening! Piggy chocy robo reporting in - sitll got some choc left - not sure whether to pig it all or ration it out!

Struggling this week as kids off and out and about and snacks and lunch out is taking its toll. The cold wather is not helping either as i dont want salad!

Anyway - drawing a line under it and starting a fresh tomorrow as back to work.

3girls1madboy Thu 04-Apr-13 21:13:58

I hate Mars Confectionary!!!! They've only gone and made a Teaser bar.....the Celebrations malteaser in a bar!!!!! I need to work out how many Syns, a couple of pieces are grin

Had a good day, food shopping done and all meals for next week are all planned.

beanandspud Thu 04-Apr-13 21:14:08

Well done Spotty - what a great result! Don't give up on us now!?

Do you like jacket potatoes as that's my standard lunch with either beans, cottage cheese, extra light philadelphia (heA)? Also those pasta/sauces that you make up with water that are free? Mugshots?

Make a SW crustless quiche and have it sliced over a few days?

I'm also getting better at cooking a bit extra in the evening so that I can just microwave it for lunch - pasta, chilli etc. all work well.

Ryvita are also fairly low in syns and good with cottage cheese or those laughing cow triangles (especially the blue cheese ones)

I can't wait for some better weather so that I can have a lot mre salad at lunchtime with tuna, prawns, cottage cheese etc. I just don't feel like eating salad in this weather.

beanandspud Thu 04-Apr-13 21:15:50

3girls can you share your menu for next week - I could do with some inspiration?

3girls1madboy Thu 04-Apr-13 21:32:48

Ok here goes, I tend to use mince and chicken for a lot of the meals, as you can see, but I find it makes for happy dh and dcs, who haven't complained yet about what they're being fed, and dh has lost 2st since Jan!!!

F- chicken and veg stir fry for me and dh. Pizza for kids
S- SW chicken tikka masala
S- Greek Style Lamb (from the mag, looks scummy) Will do sweet pot mash and roast spuds
M- Tomato and Corgette pasta (firm favourite in the 3girls house)
T- Meatballs (another mag recipe with pork mince)
W- Spag Bol
T- Homemade burgers

Since doing sw, I've not used a shop bought sauce for anything, and everything tastes so much better smile

I love it when the new mag comes out, new ideas for dinners and puds. The new one has lots of lovely looking deserts!!!

3girls1madboy Thu 04-Apr-13 21:35:18

I'm the same with regards to salad!! I love it with tune, prawns, chicken. But it's so flipping cold, and it was snowing here today! This weather is bonkers grin

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 04-Apr-13 21:46:07

Well done spotty and cupcake

I like salad but it doesn't fill me up sad

Can you syn breakfast and then use b's for lunch if you want bread

Or have fruit and yog
Fried breakie
Porridge /cereal and syn it (6)

I'm gonna gain tomorrow as chocolate attacks - def a yoyo at the moment sad

KissMyGrits Fri 05-Apr-13 19:34:57

How did you do blondes?

B: Dippy eggs and soldiers (marg 0.5)
L: Jacket with beans and cheese (hex a)
D: Chicken tikka massala, rice and poppadoms (2)

Syns: Chocolate 4, wine 6, milk 1

altogether 13.5 syns.

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 05-Apr-13 19:41:13

duh thought i had been on here today

gained a lb

b fruit
l salad, potato, eggs and mayo ex lite(2)

s crisps (4) grapes, kiwi, strawberry

tigerdriverII Fri 05-Apr-13 19:53:02

Hello everyone. Well done for the losses and don't panic Captain Mainwaring about the gains.

Has anyone's SW consultant suggested "success express". It seems to be a new variant of SW. Basically 1/3 of your plate free, 2/3 super free for each meal but you are allowed 2 heas and hebs, and the usual 5 - 15 syns. The complicated bit is that the free food has to be free on either red or green days <<brain melts>>.

Anyway, I have done it for 2 days, will go back to EE for the weekend, then do it on Monday as I WI on Tues. will report back. Am doing plenty of walking and swimming just in case not to burn off wine

beanandspud Fri 05-Apr-13 20:18:28

Evening all!

Don't be too hard on yourself Blondes but please don't give up - sounds like you've have a good day today, just keep plodding on...

Tiger that sounds interesting about 'success express'. I don't really understand red and green days but I'm guessing it's a variation of food combining so you don't mix protein and carbs at the same meal?

I have to WI tomorrow and can't help thinking it'll be a gain but I'm trying to be positive. I made the mistake of mentioning to my mother that I was following SW and she now tries to subtly ask how it's going everytime I call her which is driving me bonkers. I know she means well but I almost wish she'd just come straight out and ask how much I weigh instead of dropping hints.

Moan over, pretty good day today although I do have wine.

B - banana and yogurt, Alpen light bar
L - enormous jacket potato with cottage cheese and salad
D - seafood paella

S - fruit, a bit of leftover pasta (free!) and wine blush

tigerdriverII Fri 05-Apr-13 20:28:49

Hi bean. No I don't understand the red and green days either, but basically it's lots of fruit and veg and small portions of meat, egg, spuds etc. so for example today:

B: lots of super free fruit, a muller light and a banana. Plus two alpen light bars (HEb).

L: chicken and some potatoes for 1/3 of my plate, salad of various types for the rest, fruit salad for pudding. The salad included enough Stilton to be an hea.

D: veg soup with a few mushy peas stirred in(sounds vile, tastes great)

Snacks. Bits of fruit (good). Lots of wine. Bad.

I have actually missed out an Hea and a HEb today. But I sort of think that the wine will cancel that out....

3girls1madboy Fri 05-Apr-13 20:28:56

Evening everyone.....

B- muesli (heb) with blueberries
L- tuna salad
D- chicken stir fry

Syns- couple of pieces of choc, half a mini pork pie, and 3 pot wedges from the kiddies dinner....I think about 15 Syns. DH says I should keep track of them by writing them down, that way I won't have more than I should!!!

I also bought myself a cheap ab trainer from Argos today. Doing Zumba is trimming my bums and legs, but the ole belly is still wobbly. Going to need to thousands of sit-ups to get rid of 4 babies worth of stretching wink

My mum does that bean.... Specially on wi day. I get an email about 8.30 smile

tigerdriverII Fri 05-Apr-13 20:43:31

3girls. Do write them down. If you are guessing, and not looking up, you might be having more than you think, if its more than 15 syns then you won't lose weight. My mum needs to lose 2 stone. She is disabled and elderly and can't get to a group, so I've gone through the plan with her. She likes the idea and is all enthusiastic. She eats like a sparrow, but she had kept a food diary for a couple of weeks. When we went through it she was having about 20 syns a day, so with no exercise at all....

3girls1madboy Fri 05-Apr-13 21:01:26

Thanks tiger. When I first joined I kept the food diary, and it really helped. I'm going to start tomorrow x

laughalot Fri 05-Apr-13 21:08:21

Hi ladies stayed the same this week not surprised with all the crappy choc iv consumed . My only saving grace is all my dinners where good so I seem to have pulled it back a bit. I am 12.9 I really hope I can shift another stone before 6th July when we go away. So many people have started to compliment me so it must be working grin.

Keep going everyone xxxx

tigerdriverII Fri 05-Apr-13 21:41:26

laughalot. You've lost over 1.5 stone so far ( not that I'm checking up on you!). You can definitely do a stone for 6 July, that's 3 months away and less than 1.5 a week, in fact not much more than 1lb a week. Go for it!!!

Now please can someone give me a boot up the whatnot. I have 2 stone 10 lbs to lose. I'd like to lose 1.5 stone by the summer (say 1 Aug). Please chivvy me along.

beanandspud Fri 05-Apr-13 21:56:07

I'll supply you with a boot up the whatnot Tiger as long as you'll reciprocate!

I go away on the 16th August and would love to lose another 2 stone by then. I'm trying to set some smaller targets though - it's our wedding anniversary at the end of next month and I would really like to have lost 7 or 8 lbs by then not that it'll be even close to my wedding day weight We then have a work 'do' in the middle of June that I'd like to be a stone lighter for and then a weekend with friends in July that is the 1.5 stone target.

Sadly I don't think the food is the problem, it's the weekend wine blush

tigerdriverII Fri 05-Apr-13 22:05:45

You and me both bean. If I didn't drink, I would be a 51 year old twiglet. Yes, I will boot you, if you will boot me.

Off topic entirely, this thread is the only thing keeping me on MN at the moment. It's fun, light hearted, and supportive. What is not to like?

laughalot Fri 05-Apr-13 22:18:36

Ha ha tiger thanks it is so nice to come on here and other people be in the same boat. It is so hard at times and other weeks a breeze. Its my star week due and I want full fat stodge grin.

tigerdriverII Fri 05-Apr-13 22:26:02

laughalot. Look a bit upthread about the success express. I have no idea if it works but I think it might. I am just doing three days of it, hoping it will work ( tonight, supper has been substituted for wine...).

KissMyGrits Sat 06-Apr-13 08:02:14

tiger you can do it, thats a good goal. I know what you mean about the wine, I was having a glass or 2 a night pre SW, but after a couple of weeks without (hard I know) you lose your taste for it and you can feel the effects after a glass. I couldn't handle the bottle I was drinking every Friday now, I had 2 glasses on Sunday and nearly fell asleep!

I'm struggling to get back onto plan after last weekend, I think the fact that I did lose a little bit has made me feel like I can deal with eating crap at the weekends and only lose 1lb a week. But realistically I need to lose 1.5lbs a week to reach goal in time. Need to get back on it!

Down a 1/2 lb at weigh in today smile Am delighted after having last weekend off, seriously back on plan for this week now, 1/2lb to go to stone badge grin

KissMyGrits Sat 06-Apr-13 13:28:58

Well I just had a scone (11 syns) and a small slice of ham and egg pie, plus I'm planning a curry tonight. I did do a 2 hour walk as well but still think it'll be 0 syns for the rest of this week for me!

beanandspud Sat 06-Apr-13 13:46:34

WI this morning and 2lb on - whoops! The scales did hover a little so I'm being optimistic that it's only just two!!!

Well done Fish I'm very jealous of your 1/2 lb.

Good day today though - fruit and yogurt for breakfast and salad with prawns for lunch. I will probably have leftover paella for tea as DH is out.

Just about to go for a walk in the woods with DS as it's a lovely afternoon here.

Oh, and my dress arrived for a wedding that we're going to and it fits! I'd bought a smaller size than normal and it looks much better than I'd dared to hope grin

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 06-Apr-13 16:15:53

bugger on phone so cant name check

well done loss's, boo for gains sad

boots ready for kicking

b fruit and yog
l sw quiche and salad
t pasta and pesto (1.5) and veg

BadRoly Sun 07-Apr-13 17:46:18

Hello all grin

Sorry, I haven't had chance really to pop in and I'm still not really back on plan anyway. Probably wont be until the children are back to school and even then I'll have my Mum down for almost 2 weeks!

Anyway, I haven't read back but I hope all is well and everyone is losing to make up for my pisspoor SW behaviour at the moment grin

Hello im back ..... another piss poor performer here grin, i have tried to be on plan loosley but with all the chocolate that needs consuming i have had to help out blush, i am doing it for the dc - the sooner its gone the sooner we can all be good and healthy again. I have been bike riding and done a bit of running with dd though mind i have had a few lagers on a night too blush, actually i think ive prbably been a bit naughty reading this back sad. Not back at work till Wednesday when i will have my first weigh in since thursday before good friday so we shall see.

KissMyGrits Sun 07-Apr-13 19:37:45

Looks like we've all been pretty bad, I'm kind of back on track today:

B: Mullerlight and toast with marg (0.5)
L: Chicken salad with mayo (1)
D: Vegetable hotpot

Snacks Choc cake (5)

So lots and lots of super free but desperate for the rest of the chocolate cake...

I was good yesterday and then blew it by having 3 large glasses of wine, good today but really really tempted to have some chocolate now.. Ah it's so hard sometimes hmmsad

Oh and can anyone tell me is there any tinned soups that are syn free? Thanks smile

androbbob Sun 07-Apr-13 21:28:51

Another one hoping this week will be better than last - its 7 weeks tomorrow until kissmygrits and I go on our holidays 'together' grin. Really want to shift 8lbs by then, but given that I am a half a pound a weeker, that could be tough - need to change something. Aiming for more exercise this week - plan to do more intense workouts and then to eat better food choices - will keep you posted.

3girls1madboy Mon 08-Apr-13 07:30:41

Boy!! Am I glad it's back to work for me today smile

WI tonight...eek!

Have a good day everyone Xx

KissMyGrits Mon 08-Apr-13 07:55:04

androb 7 weeks? Can't come quick enough for me, I have about 7 lbs I want off by then as well but I can't resist all the cake 'D'H bought for him and the DC's at the weekend!

Fish you can have some types of Baxters ones as a heb if you're on EE. If you want to know which ones let me know.

ThatBintAgain Mon 08-Apr-13 07:58:17

Morning everyone. I had a whole bottle of wine on Saturday and despite being good all week my scales say I've put on. sad So frustrating.

beanandspud Mon 08-Apr-13 11:22:43

Morning all!

Fish You can have any of the following as a HeB:

- 208g serving Baxters chunky soup, country vegetable/lamb casserole/Smoked bacon and three bean
- 208g serving Baxters Healthy soup - autumn veg with mild spices/Italian bean and pasta/puy lentil & tomato/tomato and brown lentil
- 208g serving Baxters vegetarian soup - carrot & butter bean/spicy parsnip
- 415g can Baxters vegetarian mediterranean tomato
- 400g can Heinz classic chicken & barley broth
- 300g serving Covent Garden plum tomato and basil
- 295g can Weight watchers soup - country veg/hearty vegetable broth

Hope that helps.

Hoping for a good day today. Fruit and yogurt for breakfast, salad and tuna for lunch and vegetable chilli for dinner. It's a funny old week though as I'm away quite a lot so will have to see how it goes...

Also managed to run this morning and did the Shred on Saturday so I'm struggling a bit with stairs!

MrsMeow Mon 08-Apr-13 12:23:10

Hi everyone, I wondered if you'd mind me joining for moral support? Thanks to beanandspud for linking me to this thread smile

I've been trying for a while now to lose weight, I want to lose at least two stone and I tend to manage to lose 6lbs or so then put it back on, then lose it again etc. so I've bitten the bullet and contacted my local SW rep and am starting tomorrow eve at 7.30 shock

Feeling v nervous about walking into a new group of people but also feel strangely focused so hopefully this will be it!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

iklboo Mon 08-Apr-13 17:45:28

Hello MrsMeow & welcome

Weigh in tonight. I'm not hopeful. I think I may have had a false great loss last week because I had a morning weigh in instead of evening. We were naughty Monday after weigh in but have been so good the rest of the week. confused

iklboo Mon 08-Apr-13 19:00:59

Maintained. I can live with that!

3girls1madboy Mon 08-Apr-13 19:07:56

MrsMeow Mon 08-Apr-13 20:59:59

Thank you iklboo and well done on maintaining smile

Thanks Blondeshavemorefun - well done on your weight loss! Yoyoing is so frustrating isn't it? I think I lose a bit then get complacent and think I can stop trying. Plus I love wine too much!

Feeling excited for my first weigh in, but kind of dreading it at the same time.

Good luck everyone.

androbbob Mon 08-Apr-13 21:46:08

Well all that gardening must have done some good as I lost half a pound! I so expected to gain at least 1 or 2lbs - so a happy bunny today!

Our consultant is starting a 12 week challenge with us - this week the challenge is really easy - to read our books from cover to cover! I have skipped through the book in the past, but generally dont look at it too often, so I will be taking it to work with me and reading each lunchtime (on office by myself so no-one will see!)

I have challenged myself to do something foodwise different each day this week. Tomorrow I will have yoghurt and fruit for breaky and see how I go.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 08-Apr-13 23:36:17

And rob. Yah. Well done smile

Laughalot. So scrummy and simple smile

4 eggs
Low fat cottage cheese

And then any ingredients

I normally add peppers onions and ham

Mix roughly together and place in dish and cook 30mins on 180

Makes 4 good portions - nice hot or cold

Gonna try a salmon one later in the week

How much low fat cottage cheese? Does it count as HeA or is it synned

KissMyGrits Tue 09-Apr-13 08:22:40

Yesterday was very good for me until DH broke out the rustic sourdough and chilli oil. I'm resigned to the face that this is another week off, oh well its the Easter hols!

Well done everyone on losses and STS.

androb fruit and yoghurt is my favourite breakfast, had it this morning.

tigerdriverII Tue 09-Apr-13 09:10:31

Hello all, and welcome mrsmeow. Well done to everyone for weight losses, we are all getting there!

I've been trying this success express, done three out of seven days and doing it today as well. Can't say I feel as though I've lost but I have stuck to plan, apart from a bit of overindulgence on an Indian meal on sat, and a little too much wine. Countered with swimming and walking. WI tonight: fingers crossed!!

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 09-Apr-13 10:18:18

3girls1madboy Tue 09-Apr-13 18:31:45

Oh Blondes, you poor thing sad

I've had 2 abscesses and 2 root canals in the last year and my poor purse has taken a battering smile. Feel like getting dentures!

On the up side, not being able to afford to eat will really help the diet wink

3girls1madboy Tue 09-Apr-13 18:39:58

Today I have had.....

B- muesli (heb) and blueberries
L- prawn noodle salad
D- home made beef burgers, sw chips, beans and salad.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 09-Apr-13 18:52:58

fuck a duck -bulmers is 12 syns shock

KissMyGrits Tue 09-Apr-13 18:55:25

Eeek at the price of the dentist, ridiculous!

Can you really taste the cottage cheese in the quiche or does the egg take over?

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 09-Apr-13 18:57:48

it tastes cheesey but not of cottage cheese iyswim

im not a lover of cc but the quiche is really nice

3girls1madboy Tue 09-Apr-13 19:10:46

Big ouch!
The root canal wasn't that bad...rather that than the pain of the abscess....and according to my lovely ds, I looked like Eleanor from the Chipmunks smile

Knowing that about the Bulmers has really pissed me off.....but hey ho. Soon be time for Pimms and lots of strawberries and oranges in it, should make it sw friendly grin

grin At fuck a duck. Thanks for the quiche recipe. I find lunchtime the most challenging for quick easy EE meals. Would kill for a bulmers now grin

KissMyGrits Tue 09-Apr-13 19:27:30

Will give that a go. LOVING the Pimms justification!

iklboo Tue 09-Apr-13 20:21:37

The Pimms Justification sounds like a Big Bang Theory episode grin

tigerdriverII Tue 09-Apr-13 21:07:58

Hi all. Ouch, blondes - to your mouth and to your purse!

So, success express, not entirely successful. Lost 1/2 lb. quite good for me as I tend to lose a bit, then STS or put on, so this is three weeks all in the right direction. But I am a bit disappointed. Two other group members did it, one lost 5lb envy, the other gained! I think I must have been doing something wrong. There is an explanation of it at p43 of the red and green book, if you have this year's SW books, apparently.

The amazing thing is that I got slimmer of the week for the second week running! So I have both a sticker for my book (!) and a nice bag of fruit, veg and half a dozen eggs from some ones hens, saves on shopping a bit!

MrsMeow Tue 09-Apr-13 22:47:32

Hope your mouth is ok blondes...£214 made me cringe a bit!

Well done on your loss tigerdriver smile

I went to SW tonight, was v nervous walking in but everyone was pretty welcoming! I've stocked up on hifi bars - gotta get my priorities right!

Can I just ask a couple of questions please? I remember someone telling me that 'mug shots' (dried pasta/noodle things in a sachet) are free on SW - is this right? I can't find anything in any of my booklets to say that they are or not...

Also, fat free yoghurt/fromage frais. It says in the book to look online and see which ones are free foods as not all brands are. I've looked and can't find this either. Think I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by it all! Will it be things like Mullerlight?

Sorry. I hope I'll be able to help others soon smile

KissMyGrits Wed 10-Apr-13 06:39:54

Somehow 1lb off this week shock I have not done well over the weekend and the only day I did less than 10 syns all week was yesterday. I did do a lot of exercise though. This week has encouraged me that I should be able to maintain because I haven't denied myself anything but still lost so thats encouraging.

tigerdriverII Wed 10-Apr-13 09:29:26

mrsmeow. Some mugshots are free on EE, eg the tomato one, roast chicken and sweet and sour. You have to make sure that they say mug shot in red lettering not black, apparently. There is info online, the SW website is good, mobile app better ( you can search things while you're shopping).

I don't know about frontage frail, but Total0% yog is free and I use it for sweet and savoury things. The only thinking is that it is pricey, never seems to be on offer!

Hifi bars are great, just had a peanut one to top up my breakfast.

tigerdriverII Wed 10-Apr-13 09:30:07

Frontage frail! Fromage frais.

BadRoly Wed 10-Apr-13 10:08:11

Morning grin another post and run sorry! I am collecting my Mum from the airport in a bit and am very excited grin

Anyway, spent yesterday feeling a bit ropey and pooing water confused which could explain why I have lost the 5lb I put on last week grin

Now to remain focused and get back on track... Which may be a bit tricky as there's still 2 weeks with my Mum, my wedding anniversary, my friend's 60th party and ds1's birthday to go...

MrsMeow Wed 10-Apr-13 10:13:49

Frontage frail, I love it! Thanks very much Tiger. I registered on the site and app last night so will have a better look now. Will be handy to check when shopping smile

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 10-Apr-13 10:45:42

kiss, tiger and roly - well done on loss's

i dont go to groups, so not sure how slimmer of the week works

is it a 5 of what you lose or the actual weight ie 1/2lb

as in well done you got sotw, but how come you managed it as 1/2lb - were there not others who lost 1 or 2 lbs?

mrs meow - yes mugshots are free apart from think the cheese one which think is 2 syns

lovely and and yes mullier light free

BadRoly Wed 10-Apr-13 10:53:14

Morning Blondes smile

At ours you have to have sts or lost the week before. So I wouldn't get SotW today because I gained last week. It may be that any big losers gained last week so 2 small losses has been enough for SotW.

I have decided I like my group a lot. I was quite sad not to stay today. Quite a few people commented on how good I looked grin its lovely really.

BadRoly Wed 10-Apr-13 10:54:03

Got a bit more time, welcome MrsMeow smile

Well done Kiss and Tiger grin

MrsMeow Wed 10-Apr-13 11:37:55

Thanks Blondes and BadRoly - I hope you have fun with your mum and feel better soon.

Blondes, I'm going to try your quiche recipe I think but don't have a flan dish (Delia I ain't!) so do you think it will be ok in a Pyrex casserole type dish? It's square and pretty deep...

WheresMyCow Wed 10-Apr-13 11:54:11

Morning all

Going to jump on the thread as I started at SW a couple of weeks ago.

I will try to keep up honest! grin

So, how's everyone doing this week? I have my group on a Saturday, so half way through the week and not doing too bad so far!

wow i am so shocked i lost a tiny grams to take me back to my lowest three weeks ago, i celebrated with a small faster egg blush

Easter even grin

tigerdriverII Wed 10-Apr-13 16:32:07

Hi wheresmycow, welcome!

blondes, badroly's right. You have to have lost or STS the previous week. So l've actually been slimmer of the week for two weeks in a row, because I lost 2lbs two weeks ago (not saying much, it was losing what I put on), then I lost 1lb last week, but just about everyone else gained or STS (easter eggs) apart from one person who lost a lot but had gained the previous week, and then this week, because they'd all gained the week before, I got in again.

My weight loss hasn't been very spectacular, but it's going in the right direction. I found a pic from September the other day and I look horrendous! I've just been to a dress agency and bought a slinky frock for a do I'm going to in a couple of weeks. I will look fat slinky, if you see what I mean, but certainly a huge improvement on 6 months ago. I am finding it quite difficult to work out what to wear at the moment though, I look at clothes and still think "barrage balloon" where really I can think, might look ok.

BadRoly Wed 10-Apr-13 17:27:28

Mum's here grin we celebrated with cake!

Tiger - I would love to do a thread meet where we all brought 'before' pictures! In my head you all have different voices when you post where I feel I'm starting to know everyone! Anyway.

Can't stay or I'll get put on the naughty step...

MrsMeow Wed 10-Apr-13 18:18:10

Hi everyone, hope you've all had good days smile

First day for me, spent about £80 on fruit & veg etc, ouch! But I'm stocked up now and will make sure I eat every last flippin bit!

Bit of a boring day food wise really, I'm on an assignment deadline and have the DC home on Easter hols still so haven't managed to plan anything major yet, meals wise.

B - Cherry Bakewell Hi-Fi bar (6 syns) as I didn't have anything else in that I knew was ok to eat on SW and needed something quick.

L - tomato mugshot (thanks for the info on those btw). Orange.

D - 2x slices brown bread toasted (healthy extra B), 200g spaghetti hoops (free if I've read it right) two eggs scrambled using milk from healthy extra A. Toast spread with Bovril (free) as I couldn't get the lid off my marmite!

I'll probably have strawberries & blackberries with natural yog (free) later on.

Water, peppermint tea and black coffee to drink. Is black coffee ok? I can't find it anywhere!

KissMyGrits Wed 10-Apr-13 19:04:29

Know what you mean tiger. My clothes are all too baggy and starting to look silly, but I think part of that is from when I was bigger and I stretched them. I don't feel ready to go down another dress size yet and don't want to go out and buy a bunch of clothes that hopefully won't fit me in 2 months. In about 6 lbs I should be ready for a whole new wardrobe though.

tigerdriverII Wed 10-Apr-13 19:22:49

Black coffee's fine, and tea without milk, especially herbal tea, roibos etc.

On dress size, I was struggling to get into a 20, now easily fit 18 and often 16. I have 2 stone 10 lb to go, at that weight I should be a smallish 12. So I'm buying inexpensive stuff where possible, making my work dresses carry on until they really are beyond the pale. I have some old work stuff in the wardrobe from preDS days. It's all a bit boring, but classic enough to do for a while. I just don't really know what my style is, if I have choice!

I have some size 14 clothes that are loose now that I am happy to send on to anyone who needs them, nothing too fancy Tesco, Sainsburys etc everyday casual stuff

androbbob Wed 10-Apr-13 21:57:03

Funnily enough I was trying on some old jeans today and they fit, possibly a little loose! They are a 16, so I am hoping to fit into some 14's by end of May. I have plenty of trousers to fit into but very little in the way of tops, so if fish wants to donate a couple of tops my way, I can ditch these baggy ones grin Happy to pay postage!!

I am not sure what it is but the sun has been out for the last few days - not warm but not freezing. I am based out on site at the moment so getting lots of walking in and there are lots of people out and about enjoying themselves and I so want to be among them in the summer months in size 14/12 clothes getting a tan!

Foodwise I have been doing lots of salad this week - my local Morrisons has a salad bar which has loads of choice of stuff that is free, as long as avoid the pasta and creamy rice dishes. I could do it myself, but for £2 for a medium tray that lasts 2 days with some additional lettuce, it keeps me going. Far better than chocolate!!

beanandspud Wed 10-Apr-13 22:54:57

Just checking in, haven't been around for a couple of days. Well done to those of you that have lost lbs and welcome to the newbies (I will go back and re-read, I promise)

Had a funny couple of days being away with work etc. Did ok yesterday with loads of fruit and then an M&S tuna nicoise salad which I think was ok. Really struggled going out for dinner so ended up with a slightly bizarre warm roasted cauliflower salad hmm which was the best of the bunch on a menu where previously I would have stuffed myself! Couple of glasses of wine.

Pretty much all fruit, yogurt and Alpen bars today (lunch option was all sandwiches and wraps so I avoided the lot). Had a couscous salad from the service station on the way home but have found it all quite hard to judge what was/wasn't free.

On a positive note I had a work dress on that I haven't worn in 12 months and got some compliments. I have been out and bought a new pair of jeans (Sainsbury's) and a couple of tops. I am also finding clothes that I haven't worn for years are beginning to fit although I am loathe to buy much until I get to where I want to be.

KissMyGrits Thu 11-Apr-13 06:45:16

androb we're getting a Morrisons soon, can't wait because thats a very good deal. I pay £1.50 for a ready made salad from Sainsburys which is probably much smaller.

Well done on getting back into that dress Bean it's things like that that keep me going rather than what the scales say!

We're off to the NRM in York again today so lunch will be whatever they have in the cafe, I know they do jacket potato's but I might treat myself. Then I have a friend coming over tonight and was planning on having a couple of wines but I'm full of cold so that may not happen.

androb pm me your address happy to send them on smile

laughalot Thu 11-Apr-13 09:10:15

Morning ladies had a epic fail last night chip shop !!!! But with good reason the football team my ds plays for made it into the cup final and he gets to play on our countys football ground big thing he is only 8 grin and we were massive under dogs so I had mushy peas, fishcake and probably a chip portion as big as my fist oops.

On the clothes front I sold a load of my size 16s on ebay the other day so no going back up in sizes again I have a few bits in my wardrobe that are a 14 my main worry is my hoilday clothes because I want to start buying them soon because of the cost but could well be a 12 when we go away and not a 14.

Going to make the quiche today.

DippyDoohDahDay Thu 11-Apr-13 10:56:20

Hi ladies!
Can I join please? Lost three stone on sw before..then had children and now have four/four and a half stone to lose. Was going to do 5:2 plan but its not realistic for me yet, and found sw the most adaptable and flexible. Extra easy here I come, need a bit of hand holding as have been on so many false starts, evening binges and vino excesses!

MrsMeow Thu 11-Apr-13 12:04:51

Morning everyone smile

Talking of morrisons, they currently have 10x Mullerlight yogs for £3 - I meant to post about it yesterday. They're syn free!

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 11-Apr-13 12:54:46

badroly - gotcha thanks, did wonder about sotw, so if you gained last week then lost say 5 lbs you wouldnt get it, but then the 3rd week and you lost 1 lb you might?

mrsmeow - i make in a square glass dish as sticks to cake tins i find, so your pyrex thing will be fine smile hope you like

menu looks good but does a mugshot really fill you up for lunch? and dinner needs some superfree

cow and dippy - welcome and good luck

noyou, its a loss, well done smile

androb - fab you are getting into smaller sizes

bean again congrats on buying smaller clothes smile

laughalot - yah for ds, chip are allowed, mushy peas aint grin heaves

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 11-Apr-13 12:57:12

beanandspud Thu 11-Apr-13 13:44:19

Afternoon all!

Well done to Laughalot's DS on football final - that does indeed merit a fish supper! And great news about the new clothes! I really do need to do a massive wardrobe clear-out as I'm sure I have the whole range of sizes from 10-20 in there somewhere...

Be kind to yourself Blondes - I hate that TOM feeling - it's yucky.

B- Fruit and yogurt
L - SW Quiche - loads of veg in it so I could be a little, ahem, windy later blush
D - Not sure yet, I haven't been shopping and haven't been at home much this week so we could end up with a curry unless I find an alternative quickly!

Thanks for the yogurt tip-off MrsMeow - DH is on his way to Morrison's as we speak!

Welcome Dippy - fab name.

needstodiet Thu 11-Apr-13 15:30:09

Blondes I started using aquaban the week before I'm due on as I always end up bloated and uncomfortable. Maybe just luck and nothing to do with the aquaban but I lost 5lbs at the next weigh-in (day before they started). Wasn't at the start of my SW journey either.

Not expecting good news at this next weigh-in tho. On antibiotics which has diahorea listed as possible side effect, it's done the opposite for me sad

Missenglish Thu 11-Apr-13 16:11:17

Hi All!

I lost three stone since august last year and I feel amazing! Lots of my friends and family have asked how I have done it so I have put together a blog ( )

Anyway, my focus is on normal and achievable tips and tricks to help people lost weight and to inspire and motivate them. Do you have any ideas I could share on my blog?

Hi all, have been lurking, I hope you don't mind me jumping in now & again?

I read blondes recipe for quiche yesterday and wanted to tell you I made it today - was lush! Thanks.

I've been a member of Slimming World for a good few years now, I was at target almost 2 years but managed to go more than 3lb over sometimes and am currently 12lb over target - working on losing that excess now.

Whoever said they were bunged up - have you tried scanbran? I've been having 3 pieces a day (1 syn each or 5 for a HEB) mixed with boiling water & banana, it will make you move all right!

Best of luck for morning blondes, I second the aquaban smile

MrsMeow Thu 11-Apr-13 20:20:26

Thanks for advice, I made mine in a Pyrex casserole dish and it was fine smile bloody gorgeous too!

I've done really badly today I think...I really find it hard to eat breakfast, it makes me feel sick so I tend not to. Really need to change my mindset on that. I've been working on my assignment all day as well so before I knew it, it was 4.30pm and I'd not eaten anything.

So breakfast - 3 x black coffee
Lunch - nothing
Dinner - SW quiche with baked beans.

Water, coffee, peppermint tea to drink.

Will have fruit & natural yoghurt later and maybe a little bit of all bran with it to get a healthy extra in there.

Tomorrow will be better!

3girls1madboy Thu 11-Apr-13 20:32:02

I have been a very bad 3girls tonight.

B- muesli (heb) with strawberries
L- left over Spanish chicken with rice, and 2 homemade pakoras (but I was very good, lots of cake and crisps, as someone was leaving at work, and I didn't have any)
D- Chinese takeaway!!!!

Plus banana, apple, satsuma and an activist yogurt. Lots of water too grin
Good luck for the morning blondes x

3girls1madboy Thu 11-Apr-13 20:32:36

Activist???? Bloody autocorrect!

weetabix for breakfast
sushi for lunch and a pear
chilli con carne for tea which was hardly any as it didnt taste that good
dh then bought in pattie and chips for himself as he was working late and i had a one wholemeal bread slice chip sanger blush
also had a muller light.

I am a bit bunged up too but like to think thats because i dont have as much waste confused

beanandspud Thu 11-Apr-13 20:58:44

For some reason I find the idea of 'activist yogurt' very funny grin

Dinner dilemma was solved by DH and we ended up with a curry blush. I had boiled rice and tandoori prawns without sauce so ok I think.

MrsMeow Thu 11-Apr-13 21:24:54

I love Activist yoghurt!!

FairHairedAndFrustrated - welcome smile I'm new on here too, I started SW on Tuesday.

Where do you get the scan bran from? I remember hearing about it from a friend but don't think it's in the shops?

I'm finding things have slowed down a bit too blush despite all the fruit & veg..

tigerdriverII Thu 11-Apr-13 21:31:41

mrsmeow. <<stern look>>. You know that no breakfast and no lunch is not good!

How about a hi fi bar for breakfast, or leftover dinner? I often have cottage pie, or curry, or whatever, for breakfast. I don't like cereal, or bacon and eggs, or toast (picky). I do like a nice tikka masala though!

If you don't eat enough regularly, your body will go into starve mode and will start laying down fat, so you need to try to get something into you. Smoothie? Milky coffee <<boak>>

MrsMeow Thu 11-Apr-13 21:40:39

I know, I know blush I think this is my main problem. I have a v small appetite and am lazy when it comes to cooking/eating so my usual diet is coffee for breakfast, sandwich for lunch and sandwich or pasta for dinner. Plus wine! This is what's made me a size 16!

I must admit I panicked a bit when I saw just how much you can eat on SW, it's more than I would normally so that to me, equates to putting ON weight, not losing it...

A hifi bar is actually a really good idea. Quick and easy and I can eat it in the car...thanks smile not sure I could attempt leftovers. I heave trying to eat toast so early - RESPECT to you for having the stomach to do it haha!

Thanks for the advice!

tigerdriverII Thu 11-Apr-13 21:48:22

Could I ask (roughly) how old you are? Cos that was my diet for years and I was a manageable but overweight size (16/18), always the jolly one. Then I hit middle age, aka 50 + menopause, and suddenly late pasta suppers turned into struggling into a 20. And the wine of course! Hifi are good. Peanut is nice for breakfast, or two Alpen light bars, they are more cereally IYSWIM.

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 11-Apr-13 21:50:19

Glad you liked my (sw) quiche. Told you it was easy smile

Welcome fair haired

Mrsmeow. Bad cat !!! You must eat during the day. Eat breakie. Even if a few grapes or a banana or hifi bar

Hi Mrsmeaow I get the scanbran in group, but I think Holland & Barrat sell it also.

I melt mine with boiling water so it's easy to mash and slice a banana in it with a wee bit of milk & sweetener.

I never usually have what I would call a breakfast either, though I try & have the scanbran around 10am/11am. I don't have a big appetite either but I like knowing I can eat the superfree foods if i'm hungry.

Today I have had the 3 scanbran (3 syns) milk (HEA) & a banana for breakfast/brunch with a black coffee

Lunch was Blondes quiche (1/2 of it) snacks were yellow plums, melon and a greek muller light (1/2 syn)

Dinner was KFC style chicken fillet burger with a brown wholemeal roll (HEB) lighter than light mayo (1/2 syn) and tomato served with a few big thick cut potato wedges sprinkled with chilli flakes.

Have drank coffee using my milk allowance, diet coke & no added sugar dilute juice.

MrsMeow Thu 11-Apr-13 22:06:24

Tiger - I'm 33. This has been my diet for forever and I've always stayed around a 12/14 - usually 14, but in the last three years or so my weight has been creeping up. I think it's probably down to age for me, but funny you should mention menopause, I'm currently undergoing tests for this and thyroid/PCOS....

Blondes - I know! I did really enjoy the quiche though. How simple?! V filling too. Good luck for your weigh in smile

Fair - thank you, I shall ask at group. I did buy hifi bars last time but she didn't mention anything else so I'll ask. That's my problem with breakfast I think, I can't stomach it until around the same time as you, by which time I'm in lectures, busy with DC, at work, and it's almost lunch time!

androbbob Thu 11-Apr-13 22:07:34

Ooh new people to the group - welcome to you all! Keep the ideas and issues and thoughts coming - we can all help each other to be a little slimmer for the summer - I am told we will be getting one some day, not sure when!

Been a good Robo and been to the gym tonight. I was planning on going at lunchtime, but meetings all merged into one. Thankfully I nipped into Morrisons on the way to work and got a salad tray with three hard boiled eggs and loads of free salad and a teaspoon of coleslaw. It was delicious and I finished it off with some Chilli for tea!

Off with the kids tomorrow, so had thought to take them to McDonalds, but they both went there separately today. Probably go back to Morrisons and get me a salad and them something from the cafe there as the prices are reasonable! DS wants to play golf (he is 6) so there is a pitch and putt course nearby so we will try that - its one step up from the usual crazy golf.

Need to have a good three days ready for WI on monday! Need to lose 6lbs to get my Club 10 - my next target.

ILoveOnionRings Fri 12-Apr-13 11:44:35

Hi all - can I join too?

I have managed to 'obtain' a SW book and started last Saturday so first weigh in tomorrow. I am not going to any classes and being supported by SIL through texts and fb. I have 21lbs to lose or 10.5 kilos as that doesn't sound as much.

Determined to get the weight off as none of my summer clothes fit and I refuse to buy any in the next size up.

Just going to the shops and plan to make Blondes quiche when I get back and then something mincy with veg for tea - DH and DS will be having a pie and veg

laughalot Fri 12-Apr-13 15:21:43

Welcome to the newbies !!! Should we call the quiche Blondes quiche grin. I made the mistake of cooking it in a cake tin big fail it did stick but still ok to eat.

I lost 2lb this week so 12st 7 still a long way to go but better than 14 5 when I started grin.

Huffpot Fri 12-Apr-13 15:42:00

I weighed on Wednesday and 3lb down. I came on so it would have been a better loss without that - am tempted to get the Aquaban tablets mentioned up thread to see if that helps once my period regulate
Blondes Quiche is lovely grin

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 12-Apr-13 15:51:59

blondes quiche

i like that smile

i gained 2 lbs - bloody totm and possibly the battered fish on sunday

KissMyGrits Fri 12-Apr-13 16:18:08

Well done laugh and huffpot!

I have flu so I'm feeling very sorry for myself, forced myself to eat lunch because if I don't I'll binge on junk later. Thats what I do when I'm ill. Managed to make it to the shop and buy my first ever tub of cottage cheese so I can try Blondes quiche this weekend!

I was planning on having the duck pancakes tonight but just read the recipe and the duck is supposed to marinate overnight so that buggers that right up! Think will be Indian takeaway but have WI in the morning, what's the best thing I can have? Normally love a chicken korma but that won't be good will it..

Otherwise only 1 syn today though smile

MrsMeow Fri 12-Apr-13 17:57:46

Hi everyone smile I like Blondes quiche!!

Blondes - not too bad considering time of the month. I've been known to gain up to 6lbs some months!

I've tried better today, food wise and eaten a bit more.

B - Mullerlight and blueberries. Black coffee - all syn free.

L - 2 slices brown bread (HEB) with cottage cheese, chicken and tomato - syn free.

D - will prob have Blondes quiche with beans or peas - syn free.

Fruit to snack on this eve if needed. And a well earned glass of wine - god knows how many syns but I don't even care!

MrsMeow Fri 12-Apr-13 17:59:16

Welcome to everyone else that's new and well done Huffpot and Laughalot on your losses smile

3girls1madboy Fri 12-Apr-13 19:49:52

Welcome to you who are new smile
Yay for the losses grin
Boo for the gains sad totm sucks!!!

Good day today, stuck to plan with minimal Syns (2 teaspoons of ice cream, so I reckon about 2)

laughalot Fri 12-Apr-13 21:34:38

Can someone please who has half a brain work out my weight loss I am being so thick and have tried twice and got 2 different answers. I started off at 14.5 and now im 12.7 !!!!!! Thanking you xxx

tigerdriverII Fri 12-Apr-13 21:48:26

Hi. 1 stone 12 lbs. nearly the same as me , I have lost one stone 11. So to me that's nearly 2 stone. grin

laughalot Fri 12-Apr-13 21:57:54

Thanks Tiger that was my second answer it was giving me brain freeze !!!!! 2 stone was my target for my hols so I am so happy with that.

ILoveOnionRings Sat 13-Apr-13 10:43:05

Morning everyone. Made the quich yesterday but the cottage cheeses was 70% fat free, couldn't remember if we could have that free so bought quark instead. Just a quick question, the quiche had alot of liquid when I took it out of the oven. Is this normal?

First weigh in this morning and had lost 4lbs so quite pleased with that.

17lbs to go

WI today down 1 and 1/2 lb so 2 and half to target smile

Made the quiche today for lunch which was fabulous so thanks *blone

needstodiet Sat 13-Apr-13 16:18:49

Well done fish and onion (sounds like a new dish) grin

+1/2lbs this wk sad Aim to do much better this wk.

Must give blondes quiche a try too.

angry I just wrote a big ling post & my internet cut out & lost it!!! I'll try to remember what I wrote (and save it incase it does it again!!!!)

Well done to those who have had losses, and to those who have had gains, onwards and downwards - this is life and we'll have bumps in the road smile

Onions, your #blondesquiche may have been runny due to not being left in oven long enough or perhaps the quark was just too runny? I've never used quark for it so don't know.

Today I had raspberries, banana and muller light for breakfast
Lunch was w/meal bread (HEB) kerrymaid (2 syns) and beans followed by a kiwi and grapes
Dinner is a Chicken Kung Pao out of the SW Taste of Asia book served with egg fried rice.

I also had a few syns in the Mikado sticks (about 4 syns as I had 8 of them) after I took DD to get her ears pierced (for the second time!)

I hope the Kung Pao is nice as I've not been able to get shuazan (sp?) pepper here in the arsehole of nowhere rural NI so I got mixed peppercorns instead - hope it doesn't alter the taste but I have a feeling it will. The pic in the recipe looks delicious.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 13-Apr-13 18:04:05

quiche a la blondes has never been runny - but have also never used quark as it is rank grin

almost 2 st laughlaot envy well done, so jealous

wish i either want a yoyo or that i didnt binge when due on/emotional etc

iklboo Sat 13-Apr-13 19:56:33

Nicey spicy ricey for tea. Extra lean mince, peppers & onions, old El Paso spice mix & half a tin of tomatoes. Served with boiled rice and a nice big dollop of fat free fromage frais. 2 syns. Yum.

tigerdriverII Sat 13-Apr-13 20:41:43

Well done on losses all. Some great ones there: who's got the spreadsheet, our total losses are amazing!

fairhaired. The Kung pao chicken is super delish. DH has an irrational prejudice against Chinese food, but loved it. I think it's better with the Szechuan peppercorns as they have such a distinct taste but I think you'll be fine. Have you got any cumin in your cupboard? It fight be a bit of a substitute? I was surprised how easy they were to get, Schwartze (sp?) do them.

ILoveOnionRings Sat 13-Apr-13 21:09:00

Ok I'll give the low fat cottage cheese a go smile

Has anyone tried the curry recipes from the website - If so which one owuld you recommend?

Huffpot Sat 13-Apr-13 21:12:05

That chicken dish sounds delish...will put it on my to make list fair

Chicken dish was a huge hit here!! Well, with DH and I, the kids didn't want any of it, they had burgers instead!

I do have cumin but have read this too late! I'm going to go to Sainsbury's when I'm next in town as they tend to have more than the smaller store near my house.

I loved the dish as we love chinese food but I always get a nauseas feeling afterwards, probably from the MSG, but tonight there was no sick feeling at all - great!!

Have had a wee bit of ds's Easter Egg (only one left to go now!) and then filled up on a bowl of raspberries, grapes, melon & kiwi.

To whoever asked about curry (sorry am on phone and it's a pain to scroll) have you tried the Chicken Jalfrezi recipe? It's more an Indian tomato based curry, I love it. Or what about the speed curry sauce? It's easy to make and tastes exactly like chip shop curry sauce (if made correctly, DH has it down to a fine art now!)

FrickingFedUp Sat 13-Apr-13 22:47:38

Can I join in please? Back on board after about a year break.

tigerdriverII Sat 13-Apr-13 23:34:42

Hello fricking welcome! Everyone can join in. We've lost loads!

KissMyGrits Sun 14-Apr-13 08:37:14

Hello everyone new!

I love the chicken tikka massala recipe. Haven't tried many others because I still have a sneaky chicken tikka rogan josh from the takeaway occasionally!

Feeling better this morning but DH bought me a cream scone yesterday because apparently I 'burn more calories when sick'. Would have been rude not to eat it!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor Sun 14-Apr-13 09:24:22

Hi everyone, I joined slimming world on Thursday. I have a four month old baby and about 1.5 stone to lose. I'm breast feeding so I'm allowed quite a few extra healthy extras, but I'm having trouble finding something to eat with them. Last night I made the Burmese chicken and coconut curry out of the magazine, it was delicious.

Jinty64 Sun 14-Apr-13 16:38:54

Can I join you? I lost 2 stone with SW in 2011 but, due to family problems, stopped going and have put 1 1/2 stone back on. I have been low carbing and have lost exactly - nothing. I bought new clothes that were just a bit tight before I gave up so I have a whole new wardrobe to wear in 2 stones time. They are sitting there mocking me! I go on holiday in 12 weeks time and am determined to wear them then - I don't have much choice I have so little that fits me.

Planning to start tomorrow. I won't be going to meetings as the times don't suit but I have all the info plus lots of SW recipe books. I want to lose 5 1/2 stone in all.

tigerdriverII Sun 14-Apr-13 20:56:14

Hello Jinty: welcome!

Soooo. Have had three days of success express (apart from the wine).

Then EE Friday, yesterday and today (got a chicken in the oven, all the SW trimmings)

Then tomorrow and Tues, success express.

I feel a bt lighter, hoping for a loss, fingers crossed.

androbbob Sun 14-Apr-13 21:16:53

Evening all! Been a busy bee this week - busy with work, plenty of exercise and tried to be good with food choices - the scales will show tomorrow!

Surfing the net tonight looking at holidays - cant afford one but like to dream! Minorca and Dubai are on my look at list tonight!!

2Labradors Sun 14-Apr-13 21:18:57

Would I be able to join too please?

I've done SW in the past, it was great when I was breast feeding my son and I lost 2 stone.

I've kept that off and lost more through ww but I have had to cancel my ww subscription as I found out I am pregnant with number 3. I'm determined to not gain the huge amounts I did in my previous pregnancies and have started properly on the SW plan today. I'm hoping to join back at my SW class in just over a week, as I'm not able to get to class this week.

I made cottage pie today, enough for tomorrow's dinner in work and a portion in the freezer. I also made mushroom fried rice.

Hoping the plan with ease my IBS symptoms, as I'm only 7 weeks pregnant and my tum looks like I'm 6 months. I've eaten lots of fruit & veg today, I do love SW

beanandspud Sun 14-Apr-13 22:43:00

Oh dear, this weekend has been a disaster sad

Been away with family...

Chips, curry, crisps, wine, pasta and sauce, cheese... I feel rather embarrassed blush but have really struggled to find SW friendly/veggie options at theme parks, pubs etc.

Back to it tomorrow. All helpful advice and 'kicks up the proverbial' gratefully received.

Morning all slimmers new and old smile

WI today, and have decided to go it alone. I'm paying £5 a week to get weighed and never stay at group. So the fiver is going in a pot, and when I reach target in 1st 5lb, I will buy myself something pretty.

This weekend was awful, DD1, who is 13 was admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis on Saturday, but turns out she has gastritis. So a weekend of no eating for hours, then had a bacon roll, and several glasses of wine. But she's home and getting better. But let's just say that our NHS is fantastic grin

Have a fab day everyone x

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 15-Apr-13 14:53:43

Sorry to hear about dd sad hopefully she is on the mend now

3girls hope your DD gets well soon.

Blondes hope you're ok tomorrow. Just forget about SW for the day and relax, there are days it's not worth stressing over food.

Curlywurlysareyum Mon 15-Apr-13 20:35:30

Is it ok to join? I've read your thread and your stories really inspire me to lose weight.
I always was a ww girl for years. Something finally clicked last summer and I lost a stone by Xmas. After Xmas I struggled on my own but 6 weeks ago decided I would finally give sw a go - I know a lot of people who are shrinking before my eyes so had to join!!! And I've never ever felt so positive about a diet. I had 10.5 off in 5 weeks. Last week had a gain so now have 9 off - that plus the 12 I had off before I joined means 1 stone and a half. I've gone down a dress size and so pleased. BUT I feel I need to keep at it. I need another 19 lbs to get to target. And I know by the summer I could be there!! All ur positive stories really help!!
So hopefully u don't mind me joining in.

Tonight I had the sw noodle salad - it was delicious.

iklboo Mon 15-Apr-13 20:37:53

Thinking of you tomorrow Blondes x

laughalot Mon 15-Apr-13 20:46:21

Welcome newbies we have loads now grin.

Blondes big massive hugs you have done so well and Mr Blondes would be so proud of you and the strength you have found everyday to carry on with daily life. You are always so jolly and you make me chuckle so much on facebook. So if you have loads of wine tomorrow and naughty food who cares you have been through so much and you deserve a day off the diet xxxx

androbbob Mon 15-Apr-13 20:54:28

Big hug for blondes - you are such a strong person and I am proud of you and your attitude to life. Do whatever makes you happy tomorrow and cry all you like and I am glad you have such good support around you.<
