Feeling fed up -

Hi everyone, I'm 4 stone overweight and I'm trying so hard to follow the slimming world plan and have been doing excersise classes at the gym. I eat so well during the day when I'm at work but it just all goes out of the window after tea. It's like I can't control myself when it comes to chocolate and biscuits even though I know I'm wrecking my progress!! Can anyone inspire me and tell me how you overcame the snacking urges and went on to loose the weight??

When I started slimming world and actually managed to stick to it have since lost all motivation I used to pre prepare loads of snacks. I'd have plates of boiled eggs, a big bowl of couscous and roasted veg and the packs of ready to eat chicken in the fridge. Then I'd always have plenty of free food to snack on in the evenings.

Find some snacks that work for you and give that a shot, then you don't have to feel guilty :)

That's a good idea to be honest then I've no excuse to reach for the biscuits if I have prepared my snacks!

Can you not have them in the house?

I second Owl, if they're not in the house you can't eat them.

Keep a little stash of low syn food in just for you. I have kinder mini chocolates, curly wurlies and hula hoops puft in all the time. They are all individually wrapped so I just grab enough to make up my syn allowance for the day and don't go back in the kitchen. Also try writing down how many syns you have each day even if you go over, it may help to slow you down on bad days.

Thanks for the advice, I think ill research into low syn snacks so I feel as though I'm still getting a chocolate fix but wont feel as guilty!! I use my fitness pal to log all my food but unfortunately it obviously doesn't track my syns.

Yes to previous advice re free snacks and low syn snacks. I find it hard to limit myself with treats so I tend to buy chocolate as I want it rather than have a stash in the house as I will just eat it all!!

I find once I have a good few days I feel so much better and then find it easy to stick to xx

I have my syn tin with hifi bars,2 finger kit kat, options sachets etc in it and a label on the lid with their syn values on (along with syn values for my tipples of red wine and gin..) so I can't use the excuse of 'forgetting' the syn values. Other evening tactics...
*paint my nails because it is hard to stick my mitts in a crisp packet when they are wet
*Brush your teeth-most foods taste yucky afterwards so the temptation is gone
*Freeze an Aero mousse for a couple of hours ( 4 1/2 syns) - it takes a while to hack through and tastes like chocolate icecream

Good luck on the weight loss, I am on SW too - it is a proper lifestyle change and we are in it for the long haul, not crazy crash dieting or fads.

Love the aero mousse trick - I'm trying that!
