Slimming World

I am really struggling...

I have had a couple of bad weeks - been away, two meals out last week and will be eating out at the weekend too.
I feel as if outside of this I am following the plan but naughtily jumped on the scales just now to find that I have put on 2/3 lbs.
I don't know what to do. I had lost 12 ( very slowly, but that's ok) and now I feel as if something is going wrong.
I did put on a couple a few weeks ago, mainly water retention and I lost it the following week.
When I put on a couple it was a day when I was helping out and the consultant weighed me, slipped my card back into my book and handed it back without a word. It made me feel as if she thought I should be ashamed. The lady who normally weighs will tell you how much she has put on, makes you feel so much better!
Anyway, I suppose I want to ask your advice on several things

  1. I don't want to weigh in next week, I want a couple of weeks to get back on track. I hate the group and don't stay, I find the whole thing humiliating not helpful, so I am not going and asking the group for advice.
  2. I have a Countdown - when I asked a couple of weeks ago if I could miss a week as we were going away I was told "This is why we ask you when you buy a Countdown if you have any holidays booked...!" I didn't have a holiday booked, it was a surprise! Can I have a week off during my Countdown period?

Would be grateful for any support/clarification/advice, please.

Don't miss a weigh in!

I don't do sw but when I slip up for a few days I instinctively avoid the scales for the reasons you've suggested. It's always a mistake: I slowly fall off the wagon and without a weigh in it isn't apparent/I become less answerable or attached to the goal. I can't stress how many times I've done this then regretted it.

I'm not on slimming world but have lost 2st 9 with mfp.

Thing I've learnt is that weight isn't static and weight loss isn't linear. But I'm confident enough to say that if I gain a little bit on holiday etc I know how to and can loose it again.

Do what is right for you. If you feel skipping a week is what you need skip a week but only do it if you can go back stronger and better the next week and you won't loose momentum.

Of course I'm not a slimming world expert though

Thanks I did try MFP when I was doing calories and have found SW so much better. It is the humiliation I can't deal with. I am seriously thinking of finding another group, if anything I will weigh in elsewhere.
Please can anyone advise on whether it is possible to miss when you gave a countdown? It is 12 weeks so surely to God it isn't unheard of for an unexpected occurrence to mean you can't weigh in one week?

I have a countdown and missed a week when I was ill and used 2 weeks. So if you don't want to weigh one week you will still use that week on your countdown so they will take 2 weeks off when you go next.

Sorry meant to say though that I would try not to miss a weigh in. I know I would probably go off plan for a few days on the basis that I could then claw it back before wi. You are doing really well - nearly a stone! Keep on plan.

If you dislike your group that mUchida - it really isn't the one for you..... find another one and go to every weigh in if you really want it to work for you xx

If you miss a week on a countdown nothing happens but you lose that week (your countdown period won't get extended to make up for the lost week).

I think on the count down you will just need to pay 2 weeks when you go back if you miss a week. If your not enjoying the group, find a new one, going to the group, chatting with others, laughing about watermelon, is half of the reason I have kept losing weight, I'm only 6 weeks in, 10 off, its been a learning curve, but the other folk at the group have kept me going. Just msg your group leader or whatever they are called and tell her you'll not be there, don't let them 'tell you off'
Keep going with it, you are doing well, just a wee bump in the journey Flowers

My top tip is

Don't miss a group. Face it and move on.

You will lose your money for a week on your countdown cos thems the rules, I'm afraid.

It sounds like your leader is crap so find a new one. We have had some great laughs in group but that's because I like everyone and we have a giggle.

Everyone falls off the wagon every now and then. Sometimes life just gets in the way. Get weighed so you know exactly how much you want to lose the following week.

Thank you everyone. To be honest, Spoonful, the idea of knowing what you want to lose is an irrelevance to me. I might want to lose a couple of pounds but in several months that has only happened once, I think. I find the whole thing of setting a target pointless, it just doesn't do it for me. I have been going for almost 4 months. Lost 12 lb ( possibly put some on now,) so saying I want to lose a specific amount is just a recipe for humiliation and failure.

Hi, I was wondering if someone could offer me some advice or guidance. I've been on the slimming world extra easy plan since January this year and have so far lost 4st 11.5lbs. I weigh in on a Thursday night at 5pm but Thursday just gone I had to weigh in at 11.30pm so I went to the gym beforehand and got weighed in, without eating anything all day and only drinking water for the first 2 hours of the morning. I lost 6.5lbs to my surprise which I was over the moon about! That took me to 15st 10.5lbs, however after a little slip up on Thursday evening with a McDonald's cheeseburger and fries, I am now up at 16st 3lbs which is more than a 6.5lbs gain from Thursday! I understand it is still only Sunday and this may change but I was just wondering if anyone could pin point this down to water weight or any other explanation? My usual daily diet consists of:
Breakfast: 2 melon lollies
Snack: 1 small orange
Lunch: SW soup from Iceland or 4 Ryvitas with chicken and laughing cow cheese light with a mullerlight yoghurt and an apple.
Snack: 1 small orange
Dinner: chicken and rice with peppers and onions and broccoli.
Snack: either 2 hifi bars or 2 Alpen light bars or 2 weetabix with skimmed milk, using up my healthy extras.
