Nutribullet and Slimming World

Hi fellow SW ladies (and gents).

I went back to Slimmers World today determined to shift a stubborn half stone before Christmas.

Since i was last at Slimmers World I have bought a Nutribullet and I am keen to continue using it for some of my breakfasts.

While I am using unsweetened almond milk (1 litre counts as a healthy extra), and am adding things like spinach, berries and a pear, depending on what type of shake I want, I am worried about the additional seeds and powders added for health - i.e. hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, cacao powder, goji berries and almond butter. Any ideas how I calculate the syn value of any of these.

in addition, does anyone have any good Nutribullet recipes to share that are syn free?

Thanks x

What's syn?

Sounds to me that you are making healthy and tasty meals and that this should be your focus. Almond butter is laden with calories though, isn't it?

Personally I would just carry on as you are. If you eat healthy vegan food (which I do most of the time) you'lll have more energy and hopefully will want to excercise more... goodbye that half stone!

Don't forget that when you blend fruit (so your pear and berries) they turn into syns because they aren't as filling and you would likely have more of them than you could eat. I don't really worry too much about that, but if you are doing it properly you would have to syn them.

I've had a quick look at syns online for you. Hemp seeds are anything between 5.5 and 7.5 syns per 25g depending on make (seems odd, but that's what syns online says!). Pumpkin seeds are 7.5 syns for 25g, but you can have 20g as a HEb and goji berries are 3.5 syns for 25g, but again you can have 40-45g as a HEb. Almond butter is 1.5 syns per level teaspoon/4.5 per level tablespoon and 7 syns for 25g.

The only thing that I couldn't find anything for was cacao powder, but if you have the nutritional info, you should be able to go online and use the syns calculator to work it out.

Hope that all helps Smile

Thanks Miranda and Wheresmy* for the lovely contributions.

Wheresmy so many thanks for doing that comprehensive research for me, truly amazing. With the hemp etc it is just a teaspoon so we are talking small amounts. The frozen berries too are small amounts.

Still, you have made me realise that I need to add up what I am putting in and measure carefully!

I figured it would probably be a small amount on the seeds, but always helpful to know so that you don't unknowingly oversyn and then wonder why you're not losing any weight!

To be honest with the fruit I don't really syn it if I blend/mush/cook - I can't be bothered with it when there are so many other things that you have to syn!! Blush

Obviously if it was a large amount, then you might have to as it is so much easier (and much less filling) to drink a glass of orange juice as it would be to eat 8 oranges. However, a handful of berries in a shake I wouldn't worry too much about. Unless of course you are counting all the other syns and making sure you don't oversyn, and aren't losing weight - then you might have to look at the potential syns in the fruit.

For me, it would be the syns in the Cake or the Biscuit!!
