So this new plan.....

Currently on holiday and it's been the tipping point that is has resulted in me deciding to join a class when I get home next week. I did SW a few years ago after DD2 was born but did it on line.

I couldn't face the meetings then because well, along with soft play I see them as the 7th circle of hell. But if I can face soft play for the children I can face the meetings for my health Wink (plus I know deep down I need the accountability of going to get weighed each week)

My question is, as a veggie am I going to hear 'green days? What green days? Noooooo we don't do 'coloured days' only EE and SP(???) days at SW.

I want my 2 HEXA's God dammit. If I have to syn the milk in my coffee I'll be miffed.

Other than that I'm raring to go! Grin

I am veggie. I don't do coloured days, I just do extra easy. You can't have more than one hexa but can syn stuff like cheese.

The Linda McCartney red onion and rosemary sausages are lovely and free. I often do a fritatta with them.

Thanks PP Smile I know I have to get my head around the change, but I still feel a bit arms crossed sulky about it. They pushed EE when I did it but the green/red day syns (for recipies and the like) were still on the website. I have heard they have gone now? I get that they really want to move away from red/green but for a vegetarian it doesn't seem fair.

See, I am saying 'it's not fair!' Bloody hell I really am like a stroppy/sulky teenager.

And aren't SP days suspiciously like red days anyway? Hmm

And the majority of the menus in the magazine are green, with b choices of meat.IMO.
Ziar, if you're done the green plan before follow that. I have 2 a's some days but have to watch carbs & portion size, what sw tells you not to do.

I think you're right annie, it worked before (I just didn't stick to it long enough doing it online, I drifted off plan after losing a stone) I think I'll still have the 2 and see how it goes.

Thank you for the responses Smile

Someone at the meetings I go to has tracked down an old green book and is following that now as she was struggling before.

What's wrong with the new plan as a veggie? Loads of food is free and sp days are optional. It seems pretty easy and unlimited to me

Report
tabulahrasa · 29/08/2015 20:34

Obsidian - there's nothing wrong with it, you just feel a bit hard done by if you're used to having 2 lots of healthy extras is all.

Save your money and have a read of the 5:2 thread. I've been doing it three weeks (two of which I was on holiday eating blue cheese and drinking red wine with gay abandon) and I've lost 5lb with minimal effort. It is far, far better than SW which I fell out of love with a long time ago as I think it encouraged me to overeat.
Just a suggestion... Smile

I like 5:2 but it encourages me to overeat! I eat more sensibly on SW.

5:2 led me to binge.

Good grief! Well there you go, that just indicates that there is no ONE perfect diet for all.
Today was a food day for me and I ate at around lunchtime (when I first felt hungry) a handful of peanuts and some olives. Dinner was three sticks of celery dipped in taramasalata. I was so full after my celeryfest I had to change out of jeans into my leggings because it was uncomfortable.
Im currently upping my calorie intake with wine...
I could never go back to SW even though I found it brilliant at the time. Red days were my favourite but I hated reducing my HEs on extra easy. I like cheese too much.
Good luck whatever you do OP.

Thank you all, appreciate the different views. I like the idea of 5:2. Thing is I am trying to change my heating habits/choices and with that in mind SW (I think) will help.

For most of my life weight wasn't an issue. Then gorging eating sensibly during my pregnancy with DD2, hitting 40 and a crapola thyroid resulted in me being 3 stone over my usual weight. Don't get me wrong I'm not playing the dodgy thyroid card. It's the wine and chocolate that put the weight on. Just now it's just harder for me to lose it.

So, I thought back and realised that my healthiest/most successful time in the past few years was the short time I did SW on line. I'm going to give it a go. I'm not sure it's the answer, let's face it, moving more and eating less is the answer, but I'm hoping it will help me focus.

And yes I am miffed at having syn milk/cheese when I'm a vegetarian. It just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I'll understand more after my first meeting on Wednesday. Or maybe I'll smile and nod and still have my 2 HEXA's anyway Wink

Presumably they tweak the SW plan to give better results so you could have 2hxa but may get better results if you stick to one!

tabulahrasa · 30/08/2015 12:20

They switched to completely EE, because basically people found it a bit confusing with 3 versions to do.

I've carried on doing green mostly tbh, but, yeah you do get better losses with 1 healthy extra over 2...

I lost over 4 stones-reached target in February -still there -and I have only ever done green. I like my 2 hexa and 2 hexb. It worked and still works, so pah to new stuff.

I did a week on sp to try it and hated it- I was HUNGRY fgs. No bananas. Mind you I lost 4lbs that week, so it does work ( and I had my full 15 syns each day, which I don't normally do) seemed a theme that vegetarians didn't like it

DISCLAIMER - these are my own personal views Grin

I honestly doubt it as a vegetarian but I undetstand and get why you feel that way, I really do. It's important not to mess with the plan and I agree. Except when it makes no logical sense to me. As in this instance. If I was a meat eater I would understand more. But EE had meat eaters in mind when it was developed.

SW themselves said no benefit to vegetarians when they were phasing EE in. They said stick to Green. The red/green days worked for many years for many people. It can't suddenly be a course that will derail any weight loss success surely?

Anyway. I feel a bit of a twat debating if I should syn skimmed milk in my morning coffee. I respect that to many, I am going 'off plan' not truly getting on board and no doubt there will be much headshaking, mournful sighs and knowing looks shared that say 'she'll never make it' when I am honest as I start group and say I will have 2 and see how my weightloss goes. If I'm not losing and I'll drop to one. I'm not proud.

But what I'll be, is a monkey's uncle if a few dashes of skimmed milk scupper my success.

I'll report back and be honest. I may start a thread called 'a rebellious vegetarian has 2 HEXA's. Come witness her success/downfall here' Wink

Lol, green works fine, I'm 1/2 a lb from reaching target, what I do is use EE like people use SP, for a week if I've had a bad week the week before or for a few days a week for a bit of a better loss.

It's actually the b choice I struggle with, but I find SP too restrictive without meat.

Ziar, I got (removed) dodgy thyroid too. It is easier to put on lbs even though I'm 'medicated'. And difficult to loose.
I'm thinking of jumping ship to sw for a while as I'm chuffed off!

Agree, the thyroxine doesn't help as much as I hoped it would when I was put put on it. [gutted]

As long as you eat no meat or fish you can have two A choices. The green plan hasn't gone it works we just don't tell members about it to simplify the Nm talk. I lost four stone on red green and mix to match still do green v occasionally but I find sticking to EE best (I miss the second Aor B too much and start cheating after green days). If you talk to your consultant she will tell you to do green if you want that swhat I tell my veggie members as long as they really are veggie and that's SW HO advice to consultants
