After complaining about how big I am I've finally decided to do something about it. I'm joining slimming world this week. A little bit nervous but excited too. Any advice for a first timer?

Good luck for your first meeting! My advice would be to read your book, and then read it again! The plan can seem confusing at first, but it will soon feel like second nature. Also, your consultant will give you a food diary, so remember to write down everything you eat and drink for the first few weeks - it really helps!

stick to it, it works. remember the bigger picture. It's taken me a year to lose 5 stone and get to target and there were weeks I gained and maintained as I still enjoyed my life. every loss counts so don't get upset if you 'only' lose half a pound some weeks as they all add up Smile

Plan to go shopping after the meeting - but after you've had time to read your book again. I went the day after my first meeting. For dinner the night after the meeting I had a salmon fillet, new potatoes and vegetables.

Buy the magazine. Has a fabulous weekly menu in it, that you can follow exactly if you want.

Have good scales - weigh and measure all your syns/Healthy Extras.

Join us on the daily menu/weigh in thread. Write everything down as you eat it.

Most importantly...if you don't know something, ASK!

Thanks for all your tips! My first meeting is on Thursday. I've already started to stock up on some foods and I've been trying to wean myself off delicious crap foods. I'm wanting to lose about 5 stone and I know it will take time but I'm determined to do it. Thanks again for your replies Smile
