Skimmed milk for you HEA if that's what you want to use.
I think one of the main things is to have a wide variety of fruit so that you don't get bored and turn to crap instead. I have at the moment (but need to do a shop tonight) a mango, kiwis, apples (green and red), satsumas, frozen raspberries. I also buy pears, frozen blueberries, bananas, plums. When the berries come into season I'll start buying them fresh.
Potatoes are fairly versatile, mash (I don't add anything but you could use some of your milk from your HEA), chips, roasties, and jacket pots for lunch.
A good bit of veg as well, so onions, garlic, peppers, stuff for salads, carrots, corn, sweet potatoes, courgettes.
I swear by spaghetti hoops. They're free and fantastic if you add a bit of chilli powder to them. Same goes for baked beans.
I would advise you to have a full spice rack.
Tins of chopped tomatoes/passata
Fat free natural yogurt. Can go over fruit, as a mayo substitute, I marinade chicken in it with different spices and it can go into curries just at the end.
Frylight
Curlywurly are nice for a snack and are 6 syns.
