First week loss

Hi all,

Long time lurker here. I joined SW last week and have stuck to the plan rigidly. However I only lost 1.5lbs this week and I'm feeling gutted as I have about 10 stone to lose! 1.5lbs in a week having changed my eating habits so drastically feels pretty galling to be honest, especially as the other two members I joined with lost 6 and 7lbs apiece!

Could my portion sizes be too big? I'm doing a third of my plate superfree and only having superfree snacks as well, but that is the only thing I can think of really! That unlimited doesn't really mean unlimited and I'm still eating too much?

I know I should be happy I've lost anything at all, and it is better than a gain, but just feeling miserable that with 10 stone to lose its going to take about 10 years to get it off!

It could just be that your body works differently. give it more than one week to see how the weight loss goes.

Portion sizes are my downfall - but if it's all on the healthy side you should be losing something.

See how your next weigh-in goes - and report back.

Are you using your syns? My class leader swears by using all your syns and she is a very experienced consultant

Thanks for replying!

No I'm not using all of my syns- I seem to have so many to use! I might try that this week though, thank you!

And yes gin, you're right, it might just be my body. Have bought a 12 week pass so I'm committed for a while I guess!

Definitely try that, my consultant swears by it

Are you drinking enough op? I found that if I drank less than 2litres a day my weight loss slowed right down.

Also double check your superfree foods, my first 3 weeks I merrily munched in free veg assuming it was sf. Stick with it, once it starts working it's pretty easy to follow Smile

Lots of water and try to use your syns - at least 10-12 if you're struggling.
The SW plan is put together specifically to incorporate all of the food groups and to make sure your body works properly. To burn fat you need to give it something to do and your syns are important.
We all know we are trained from an early age to believe that in order to lose weight we must eat less...SW is the living proof that this is just not true!

Good luck Smile

I never have big losses really, I just lose a pound or two a week...but I've lost 5st 12lb over a year.

Don't worry about big losses, just sustainable ones and it adds up quickly enough.

Yes, use your syns, if you have a lot to lose you really need to be using them, I use all mine every week and I've done pretty good Smile

Hi, I am new to SW - this is my first week. I didn't realise you had to use your syns ... I thought they were optional. In other words, the less syns you eat the more weight you lose ? Have I got this completely wrong ?

I don't think the syns will necessarily change your weight loss week-on-week, I think it's more to do with making SW workable in the real world! So you can go out, have a few drinks, the odd treat etc & still stay on plan but if you don't, you are far more likely to give up & go back to your old habits or think you're being good but actually having too many syns (& let's be honest, for most of us here moderation & portion control don't come naturally Wink)

Sylvana - talk to your consultant - they should have explained the importance of using your syns in your new members talk.
With the SW plan everything is taken in to account, syns are important, not only do they remind you that you don't need to go without on any diet, they work together with all of the free and superfree foods, healthy extras hb's etc. You do need them. Fill in your food diary and hand it to your consultant to check over - they will need to see that you are eating enough of everything. You will not maintain a healthy weight loss if you do not eat enough...you should never be hungry! Grin
