Starting again... Anyone looking for a buddy?

Okay, so I'm going to start Slimming World again. I lost about three stone last year on it after having my DD but I've put it all back on and more :/ and I feel stuck in a massive rut.

This time however, I'm back at work so can't make it to group, so will be doing it from home. If anyone else is thinking about starting SW, or already has, I'd love to have someone to chat to and check in with! Anybody? Smile

hello! mind if i join you? this is my third stint at sw - got to target in 2009 after losing nearly 4 stone. met my husband and started a stressful job so put most of it back on. lost a bit on my own for my wedding but then put it on again (seeing a pattern emerge???) after dd1s birth. rejoined sw and lost a stone and a half, then found out i was pregnant again.

i put on 3 stone in pregnancy and would like to get down to pre dh weight again. i have 5 stone in total to shift and am 17lbs down so far.

its a slow process but am losing an average of 2lbs a week which i am pleased with.

I will NOT put it all back on this time! Grin

Hi! Sorry it took me a while to reply.

I'm going to stock up on good stuff this week and then get started! I lost quite fast last time as I was breastfeeding a hungry newborn, but now I'm not and I'm on paroxetine which has a bit of a reputation for making weight loss difficult so I'm a bit nervous... don't want to be disappointed and give up!

This is my probably 6th time starting again...my second where I've paid to join. I'm doing it online atm. I lost 19lb 4years ago and have put that plus more on, so overall got 4 stone to lose. Sad this is my 4 th week, I'm half a stone down and this week has been a disaster. I can't break out of this stupid cycle .

Have made the decision to join SW tonight so I would love buddy up with you all. Have been trying to eat sensibly for the last couple of weeks and have managed to shift 5lb, need to lose a minimum of another stone and a half.

Hi everyone Smile

I'm joining SW tomorrow night for the first time. I've managed to rope my sister in so I don't need to go alone.
I've got a lot of weight to lose, probably more than 5 stone. I haven't weighed myself in years so it's going to come as a nasty shock!
I've never followed WW or SW before but have lost 4 stone doing the Atkins diet (and put it back on again).

I'm feeling nervous but excited too. I just can't wait to see all this fat drop off.

Good luck everyone

Hi! Can I join in? This is my third week on the plan I've lost 5.5lbs so far. Finding it ok so far seem to be using up my syns at night as that's when I start snacking once the dc are in bed.

Just a question what are everyone's consultants like? I filled in and handed in a food diary with the promise of a phone call to see how I'm going and have not heard and on the meeting last thur got nothing but a smile no how's it going which I kind of expected! I also posted a question on the FB site which I saw she had "seen" yet not replied to. I suppose one of the main reasons I went in rl and not online was the support but it doesn't seem to be there so far. Sorry for the ramble!

Katie

I'm starting on Friday! After having DS1 & 2 close together DS1 is 14 months and DS2 is 7 weeks) I need to lose around 5 stone. I've been this weight before (15st4 currently) and lost it through healthy eating/exercise.

Wish me luck too and I will check back in! xx

Hi

Can I join in too? I did SW before I feel pregnant and lost about 2.5 stone. I've put it all back on again! I'm now looking to lose about 3 stone. I started the diet again yesterday. I don't have time or money to attend the meetings so any support would be great!

Hi!
How long did it take you to lose the weight before if you don't mind me asking? How old is your little one?
Are you going to following the EE plan?

Hi can I join too? I'm on week three and have lost 11.5 lbs so far. Got sooooo much to lose tho and it's going to take so long but I'm finding this so much easier than weight watchers.

hello

Wow 11.5lbs!!

I've got so much to lost though so it needs to come off quickly at first. Mostly a big loss in the first week :-)

I'm really enjoying the diet I don't feel so emotionally up and down as I have done on other diets which is a plus.

Report
PeachTrees · 25/06/2014 10:46

well done nanny! I'm on week 5 and have lost half a stone. I know it could be more but I keep losing track. I have no excuse because the plan is easy to follow and you can eat loads.

I've been going on the treadmill and out for walks with dd in the pram.

I follow EE.

Katie - my DS is now 12 weeks and mostly sleeping through the night now so hopefully I won't feel the need to eat chocolate for a quick energy boost!

Yeah, I'll be following EE. Kinda dreading haven't to do proper cooking again!

Was playing with the idea of fading 2 days also, so combining SW with 5:2 to try and lose a bit quicker!

Report
Katiekins90 · 25/06/2014 18:35

I'm very jealous your ds is sleeping through ds2 is a terrible sleeper and still not sleeping through at 25 months!

I have never cooked so much before following EE but I'm really enjoying it! I have managed to avoid chocolate so far which is my downfall but have a galaxy ripple in the fridge tonight, worth the 8.5 sys IMO.

I've got my weigh in tomorrow, I really want to get my half stone so need to have lost 1.5lbs.

Do you tend to use your syns? I tend to get through the day using none and then it gets to 7pm dc in bed and I use them up!

Report
mostlyconfused · 25/06/2014 18:54

I use most of my syns but I do a weekly a total of 70 rather than a daily total. I find it easier that way so I don't get stressed if I have a lot is syns one day, I just pull it back over the next few days.

I'm going to do a meal planner. I'm very unorganized and if I don't plan ahead I'll realise I have nothing in to cook come dinner time!

I love SW chips and usually eat lots of grapes, strawberries, oranges and tinned peas as snacks.

Chocolate is also my downfall. If I have any syns left on a Sunday night, they will always be used for chocolate!

What kind of meals is everyone else making? I'm a bit stuck for ideas as I'm not actually joining the class or website and didn't buy any books the last time I joined. I usually make spaghetti Bol, chilli, chicken salad, baked potatoes and beans, Maggie's chicken in a bag or throw a load of stuff in the slow cooker.

I've used a lot of ideas from this old thread.
Good idea about using syns per week rather then per day I did ask this when I joined up but consultant seemed to brush over the idea and said don't do it!
I've snacked on so much fruit this week and strawberry half a syn sugar free jelly. I don't like yogurt which leaves me stuck for snacks sometimes.

Tonight we made the one syn chicken korma, didn't taste I korma but was good all the same!

Right - I'm in!

I went to my first meeting this morning, the consultant was lovely and there were loads of people I know from round and about so not so daunting. In fact, I was surprised how busy it was.

I'm vegetarian so I bought the 50 free green recipes book. DH will just have to join in, or have meat alongside my stuff.

I'm going to reward myself with opening my newly delivered crochet magazine (all sealed so I can't see the contents) when I loose my first 2lbs!

Well......i joined yesterday and almost died when they weighed me ! I know I'm massively over-weight but I've been kidding myself that I don't look too bad. ladies, I weigh 19st 11 lbs Shock

I'm determined to sort myself out once and for all but today I've found it quite difficult to get my head around the syn system. Can anyone confirm if you count your healthy extras as syns or not?

I too was surprised how busy the group was and how many men were there. The consultant seems friendly but didn't really explain things very well!!

Well, day one for me but as I understand it we must choose one item from
Group A (dairy) and one from Group B (cereals and fibre) so no, not counted as syns.

Week three done 7 and a half pounds down!
12 pounds to target then I am going to lower it another half a stone as I have not noticed any change yet which I thought I would so I think in looking to loose more then what I first thought.
In enjoying it so far didn't stay to meeting today but I am trying to stay to them when I can
