Hi ya everyone
To be honest my weight has got out of control.
I have just been given a referral to slimming world by my doctor.
I am really nervous about going to first meeting .... But I know I've got to do this.

I was just asking all of you for some help
What should I expect for my first meeting
Any recipies or tips that you think I need to know
Any tips on exercise or just how to approach slimming world in general

I would really appreciate any input
Thank you

Don't worry it's brilliant or has been in my experience. Got any friends that want to go too? You can have a mini competition with them it's good fun I did it with my mum and it made me stick to it even more just to beat them hah. You're likely to make friends and they help every step of the way. The group leader will often give you her number or email if you need a little bit of extra support, I'm a pretty shy person but I felt very comfortable very quickly when I went. You do a food diary that you hand in when you weigh in and the group leader goes through it and gives advice if needed when she hands it back the next week. It is basically just healthier eating. I found I could have 1 day off a week to eat anything I fancied as long as I was good for the rest of the week. You get a sticker each time you hit a target. And chance to win the fruit bowl if you lost the most weight that week. Go for it, it really helps and you'll feel so much better. First meeting you'll be given some advice and a general talk to tell you all about slimming world and the different food plans you can follow and about body magic(your exercise) you'll be weighed, given a book and lots of information. Good luck :)

Thank you so much
Does make me feel a little better
I think it's a shame that I can't go to the same group every week as I'm a nurse and do shift work
So will feel like I'm starting at begining every time I go new group.
Nobody wanted to do it with me mainly due to cost but they have said they will do plan with me just not attend meeting so will have some support.
Should I do a food diary for the week before first meeting or do I wait for meeting first
Thanx again I appreciate the input

Oh that sucks a bit, hopefully your shifts won't be too different every week and you can go to just two different classes and make two sets of friends and double the support :)
I would actually do a food diary to keep yourself, before you start but don't start changing your habits until you go there, write down everything that you eat and when you start and have done your first week do a comparison for yourself, it might be good for you to see where you where going wrong and how you can still enjoy what you did before but possibly cooked in a different way to make it healthier.
If you need any extra support I still have all my stuff and lots of recipes :)

I've lost 5.5 stone on SW. The website is great for recipes, support, hints & tips etc. You can even just be an 'online' member, though going to actual groups has been best for DH & I. It's easy to follow, you can eat LOADS (as long as it's 'in plan').

I'd probably go to the first group and then do a food diary once you know what you 'should' be doing.

Good luck!

Elaine you don't need to do a food diary in advance.

You have absolutely nothing to fear. Everyone is in the sane boat. Even the slimmer people may well have started months ago and much heavier.

If you can go into an NHS job every day, you can certainly do this.

Don't worry.
