I think you have to attend meetings and carry on paying for the on line service. I tend to use this site more though here- advice for newcomers

thanks for all the replies - it makes much more sense now.

So can someone confirm this for me please, can I technically join a group to get all the books/plan etc and then never return if I don't want to (or infrequently turn up)?

Also, will this give me access to the info online on the SW website??

thanks!

Whilst I do think some of the ideas it promotes are rubbish it does work, so I just suspend disbelief and get on with it. Yes, it is worth paying £4.95 per week to be weighed because that is what stops me emptying the office sweetie tin on Wednesday afternoon when I'm often alone in here.

well done mother earth- fab weight loss

as mama said , and i only do ee not red/green, but

you have 1/3 plate of superfree foods ie fruit and veg
rest on plate is free stuff like lean meats/fish and most carns but not bread

bread on sw is very bad and a waste of syns for me

you also have an a calcium ie milk/cheese and b fibre ie bread/cereal

and syns a day 10/15

thats about it

motherearth that's amazing! If I manage to lose 3 and a half stone in 6 months, I'll be elated! I also love a good old clap.

Harriet I don't know what is meant by "food combining" (am I being dim? Perhaps this is why I am rubbish at diets?) Off to google now...

Hi .. I joined in Jan and always thought I'm not paying someone to weigh me, I'd done alsorts of keepfit , swimming zumba but nothing was shifting the weight,
Thank god I found SW I stay cos I also want my awards and sticker and yes a good round of clapping.
I was a size 24 weighing 19 stone 10
now 6 months later i am a size 18(i can get into a 16 but a squeeze) and weigh 16.4. its worth every penny . I do the extra easy, I dont get the red and green days.
Good Luck x

The Slimming World lady went mad at me when I mentioned the phrase "food combining". She insisted that it was no such thing, it was a carefully researched, tried and tested eating plan or something like that.

It IS food combining though, isn't it?

MamaChubbyLegs Mon 01-Jul-13 23:48:50

You get the book the day you join. It was £9.95 for me. You don't have to stay for the talky bit, you can just get weighed and run. I like to stay though because I want stickers grin

The lady who runs ours is really nice, she'll look through your food diary and help work out what you need to do if youre not losing, so staying for group is good in that way. I don't think there is any obligation to go back after the first session if yiu don't want to (though must admit I just skimmed the rules blush )

You can get peoples old starter packs on ebay, but then you don't get the support (and they are ridiculously expensive - just looked!!)

I don't know how it works with online membership, but I think you can look up syns on there too smile

thanks Mama - do you have to sign up for a certain length of time to get the book, or can you just buy it?

I'm not really interested in doing a group diet thing or weekly online weigh in or anything, I just want to find an easy way to shift my excess lbs that works!

We do the extra easy plan at my group, which does away with red and green days.

Basically, you have to fill 1/3 your dinner plate with superfree food (fruits and leafy veg) and the remaining 2/3 are free food (starchy veg, pulses, lean meat and fish, pasta and rice. They say you don't have to measure your carbs (but I do to stop myself going silly!)

Youre allowed a small portion of something calcium-y like cheese or milk (healthy extra a) and something fibre-y (healthy extra b) and anything else has a syn value.

You can have 5 - 15 syns a day, whatever you want.

The book they give you tells you what food falls into what category and tells you how many syns are in pretty much everything. I just had a samosa - 6 syns!

Hope that helps smile

I mean, I know it's got something to do with 'food optimising' and that there are red and green days, but I have also read about unlimited foods such as potatoes etc, and I just don't get it... confused

I don't want to join something that's not for me, so can someone give me a rough run down of what it all means and how you use it please? eg what are 'red' and 'green' days? Can you have a red day one day and green the next, or do you have to stick with one or the other?

Thanks
