Sleep

I go away for 4 nights, 18mo will only sleep in DH's bed and wakes at night. How to reestablish routine?

My 18mo girl usually sleeps from 7.30ish til 6 without waking, in her own room. About a week ago she started waking and I have been sleeping in her room - she stays in her cot and goes back to sleep fairly quickly. I've been away for 4 days and the disruption seems to have affected her - on 1st night she screamed for 2 hours until DH took her into his bed. She woke up between 12 and 4 and played as if it was the middle of the day. Less bad on days 2 and 3 but she still had to sleep in his bed. Now I'm back and have just tried putting her to bed as normal, and she is screaming herself hoarse. Any suggestions about how I should reestablish her routine? NB - she has not had this kind of reaction before, when I went back to work, or stopped work, or moved from our house to a small flat in Paris a month ago. All advice welcome! Thanks in advance.

Are you staying in the room with her? I would put her in her cot and stay by her side, the following night, move away a bit, the next night a bit more and so on until you are out of the room maybe?

She could be ill and it's a coincidence. Every time we've had unexpected night problems like this it's been earache!

Thanks. She did get off to sleep eventually and I'm hoping we'll be back to normal by the end of the week. Have just put her into her pram (normal procedure) for a nap so we are on track for a normal day.
