Ds just won't stay in bed.....aaaarrgghh!

My 19 month old ds has been in a bed for the past month as he was climbing out of his cot. For the past two nights, when I put him to bed he keeps getting right back up again. Arrrgggh! It's driving me mad. Have tried the supernanny approach of first time saying its night time and giving a cuddle, second time just saying bedtime, and then subsequent times saying nothing and just putting him back. Am slowly going mad! After about 20 attempts I have left it to dh to sort out. Anyone got any advice on how to keep him in his bed. I'm half tempted to rock him to sleep for the next few nights to break the habit but don't want to fall into that trap.

mine were about 2 when they went into a bed (dd a bit later)
I stood outside the bedroom door and as soon as it opened did the 'bedtime back to bed' stern voice thing
they soon get the message esp if you make it really boring
no rocking dfinitely, I used to stand at the door while they climbed back into bed
rocking and cuddles is what they want, you have to be strict!! (someone will be along in a mo to tell you to cosleep ;) )

lol re cosleeping! Little bugger is still getting up! I'm not the most patient of people and am getting very frustrated, thats why I'm leaving dh to it now! Thing is, he works late during the week so will be all down to me come tomorrow. Will try standing outside the door tomorrow night, any more advice from anyone would still be gratefully appreciated!
