Hiiii,
My lo has started waking at 6am and is ready to go!! I can basically get him to wait until 6.45am for his breakfast (has been 7am) feed but this consequently throws all his sleep out for the day. He is currently on 3.5 easy and he is 17 weeks old. Any suggestions as to what i could do??

Sorry. Go to bed earlier (yourself). 6am is flipping good for 17 weeks and it will all change in a few weeks anyway.

(DS awoke just before five 6 is a lie in here)

Erm... think yourself lucky?

Sorry, don't mean to be flip. 6am isn't really terribly early for a 17month old to get up though.

What do you mean by throws all his sleep out for the day? It sounds as though the routine that worked for you both last week needs to be adapted for your now older, bigger and more developed baby. It's always the way - just when you get the hang of them their needs change and you have to adapt.

I think you just have to get used to seeing 6am. That's a fabulous time for a 17wo to be getting up and probably about average for a 17mo. My dcs are 4 and nearly 2 and are usually up about 6.15am.

He is only 17 weeks old - He doesn't know ir's too early for you!

Oops, not much sympathy here either - 6am is a smiley face on the chart here.
5.50 today (both of them as well, argh!)
Boys are 2.8 and 1.

Don't know 3.5 easy is.
You could try a dream feed at say 10ish if you think hunger is waking him.
But doesn't sound like it is.
Think his routine is just shifting, you just have to learn to shift with it

I can remember DS doing this and it was one hell of a shock to the system. It took me a while to accept that 6am was pretty good if he had slept all night (not often he did that though).

Just plan on getting your own back once he's a teenager and wants to sleep till past 12md.

Just a quickie - are you following Gina Ford? If so am sure someone who used her routines will be along at some point to advise. I didn't use her routines so can't really help with advice on it.

So change his sleep patterns to fit his waking time. 6.00 is perfectly normal for 17 weeks. He's too little to realize that it's too early for you!
