My DD is 21 mo. We have always co-slept and she goes to bed when I do. She's at nursery full time so I was in no rush to bundle her off to bed at 7pm or I'd never see her. When she was younger she used to sleep in the evening. She isn't getting anywhere near 12 hours sleep a day.
We used to go to bed between 9.30-10pm but we've been getting later and later because she won't go to sleep. No matter what time we go up she won't go off until at least 11pm. It has become easier to go up at 11pm knowing she'll go straight off than go up at 9.30 and have 2 hours of mucking about.
I wake her at 8am to go to nursery and usually she has 1-2 hours sleep there in the afternoon. This week she hasn't slept at nursery at all.
She eats well, weighs a ton and is generally sunny-natured. Her 19 yo brother has ADHD and hardly needed much sleep from an early age. We spent months/ years sitting at the top of the stairs trying to get him to go to sleep, only to find out years later that he didn't need so much sleep, so I'm loathe to go down that route with this one.
But every child I know in RL and most of MN (it seems) have toddlers who sleep 7-7. Am I doing her some damage by not doing the same?
