Sleep

Can I share a one night only success story?

I hope that this isn't insensitive. I'm just so happy! DD (8 wks) slept for eight hours last night and the eight hours we wanted her to sleep (1 am to 9 am). I know it's unlikely to happen again for a while, so I'm not counting my chickens, but I'm just so elated - think I might be delirious through sleep (though I obviously woke up every 3-4 hours anyway). Desperately trying to think what we did yesterday so that we can recreate this wonderful event, though I suspect it was just a fluke!

congratulations!!!

Ds is now 6 months and has only ever slept through twice (and as you say, I woke up anyway!!)

Thanks I am feeling a powerful urge to tell people - I feel like I've won the pools or something!

It may never happen again but she's timed it well - MIL coming to stay for the first time this weekend and we're hoping to give the impression that we don't live in squalor, plus we're seeing an auntie who's come over from NYC to see her this afternoon (same auntie came over earlier, but DD decided to arrive 12 days late, so auntie had to leave again without seeing her), so it's nice to feel perky rather than like death.

I'm actually quite used to being up 3-4 every morning!! What's worse is DS then sleeps till around 8:30, so loads of people think I am dead lazy kipping until 8am!!!

Hope you have a good weekend.

yay for you hun!! we had a successful night too - ethan fed and slept for the times we wanted and we didn't have a 4 hour screaming marathon evening with him for the 1st time in 2 weeks! am convinced we'll go back to our evenings from hell again tonight but god it felt good yesterday evening!

Thanks (and yay Mousey)

We're on night three - first night she slept eight hours, next night seven hours, last night six and a half hours ... I am slightly worried about the fact it's reducing each time!

Congratulations from me too!! My LO has never ever done more than 5 hour stretches & that was AGES ago... these days he's more like a 2 hour stretch at his best (He's 17 weeks by the way).

So I imagine how WONDERFUL it must feel for him to go for 8 hours straight sleep. Enjoy it!! (wanted to say 'enjoy it while it lasts' but don't want to be cruel , after all with many babies it lasts for ages once the sleeping through starts!)

Ha ha - don't worry, I'm amazed it's lasted three nights and am fully prepared for it to all change. Though I think I actually sleep better when it's in three hour bursts (DD is very good at going back down after a nighttime feed, thank god) - when she sleeps through, I wake up anyway and often have trouble getting back to sleep, whereas when I know I'm only going to get three hours at the most, I usually go back to sleep right away. Oh, and I feel I have to get up and achieve things if she's slept well, whereas otherwise I think I deserve a lie-in

Yes, long may it last... It's great that it's happening to some of us, it proves that it CAN happen
