Sleep

No proper sleep during day without exasperation on both sides

Hi all sleep deprived parents out there. Our wee 13 week old is generally an ok night sleeper (manages between 4-8!!!! hours). Also, sleeps in cot in his own room, yippieeeh! Have nice morning and night routine with settling, singing, bathing. Finished breast feeding as he was a very fretful and awkward feeder and wasn't getting enough

HOWEVER, during day there is rarely any proper sleep and he can be all over the place. Restless, cranky and overtired, but refusing to go down without crying the place down. Also, when he does nap he awakens every 5 minutes or so. [hmmm]

Tried swaddling, leaving radio/tv on or off, pram (wakes up once it is stationary), since his room is upstairs it would be difficult to carry upstairs/downstairs for every possible nap.

Also, we are out and about three days week, so cannot really put him in dark room for every afternoon nap.

Suggestions how to get baby to sleep in afternoon without driving for two hours?

My 3dc have all been rubbish at sleeping out and about and cry the house down when they do. I'm afraid you won't like my solutions because they involve 3 naps a day in the dark. Once they were settled in a routine they all slept better when we are out and about though.

Re dummies. Have you tried the cherry teat ones. They are hard to get hold of because they are not as good for baby. Tommee tippee still so them though. They have a big round end so baby has something to grip on to. Mine have all spat out the flat ones because they can't seem to get a grip on them.

these ones are good
