11 month old suddenly won't go down at night- any ideas?

Hi,
my very good natured 11 mo ds has suddenly started becoming distraught when I put him down at night. Previously he's rarely been able to stay awake over his evening bottle, and even when he has quite happily gurgled a bit before dropping off. He's a bit coldy and I suspect a bit of teething, but during the day he is still going down ok. At night however he cries like the world is ending and I'm having to revert to rocking him like when he was a baby- last night even had to co-sleep (very rare in our house) to get him to fall asleep and stay down through his sleep cycles. I've heard disturbances can happen at this stage- any ideas why or what to do about them? During the day he's still delightful so I don't think he's in any great pain or trouble, and he's been sleeping through since 5 months x

Wow it sounds nearly exactly the same as my 11 mo dd. She was so good like you said at going to sleep in her cot. Then, all of a sudden this week she seems scared & cries & screams. It's horrible but i did try leaving her for a bit like ppl say but she ended up cryin so hard she vomited evrywhere. She's teething also but thats not it alone. In the day she's fine altho does hav alot of tantrums. Sorry i cldnt help Ladypanda - somebody HELP us! x

Separation anxiety -- leaving them makes it worse!
