Any suggestions for a lullaby playing/nightlight type thing?

I want to start playing DS a lullaby or some soothing music, perhaps with some lights cast on the wall or something, every time I put him down for a nap, in the hope of giving him some sleep associations that don't involved being rocked to sleep. The aim is after a few weeks of listening to lullaby while being rocked to sleep, we will graduate to sitting still, then holding him in the cot, then just being next to him, and so on.

If anyone's got any suggestions for a good music box that doesn't play lullabies at high speed while flashing scary bright lights at the wall (as the one I looked at in a shope today did), I'd be really grateful!

He's 6 weeks old by the way, and not a problem sleeper at all, just thought we'd start very slowly on this in the hope of having him beginning to settle himself in the not too distant future - don't want to be stuck with rocking him to sleep when he's 6 months, he's already well over 10lb!

We have this fisher price one (you need to scroll down past all the blue writing to find it). Once your lo gets too old for the mobile bit you can remove the arm and just have the music box with the lights - ds still has his on his cot at the age of 2 and puts it on himself at his nap and bedtime and when he wakes in the morning.

We have a Vtech one. We are actually on the 2nd one (the same type) as it has been through all 3 dcs. DS loved it and it is easy for them to operate themselves and it can also be set to come on if they make a loud noise (cry). We have actually put it in dd2's cot tonight for the first time and she was mesmorised. She is 6mths and she can press the button herself.

Thanks, I'll check them out! Am so bored of playing the one lullaby I have on my nursery rhyme CD on repeat.

We have a Tomy Winnie the pooh one, I bought it for same reason you say. Didn't find that it worked that well when twins were that young but now they are 5.5 months old it is great. It goes off when they make a noise and plays a moving pic on the ceiling and it does help them settle themselves. I often wake in the night and I can hear the music playing which means DT must have woken, set it off but then gone back to sleep.
