Help! My baby boy is 6 months old and has NEVER slept all the way through the night, he wakes up 3/4 times for either his dummy or a suck at his bottle, he goes straight back to sleep but if i dont give him the bottle/dummy he goes berserk! I know i have probably ingrained this habit into him, but i thought he would get over it now that he is weaning and there is physically no way (well not all the time)that he is hungry! My partner works away so im on my own really apart from my parents so i feel like a zombie - just want to know if any1 else has had this problem?

Hi,

It's a really common problem, and of course he's only 6 months so it's not at all unusual for a baby that young to not sleep through.

A couple of things you could try:

Make sure his room is dark and there are no obvious noises waking him up.

Don't give him milk in the night - water is fine but cut out all milk, he will probably decide that it is not worth waking up for water.

Make sure that he is warm - you may want to try a grobag or something similar if he is kicking his covers off regularly then waking up cold.

Good luck.
