Planning to start tonight - DS (20 weeks) is in every other aspect an angel baby, I just can't believe our nights are so bad.. he gets FF at 6.30 and settles fine, then by 10 is awake and takes another full FF. After that he can wake up every 2-3 hours, and I BF, eventually lying him in bed beside me about 6am and he suckles on and off until 7. I have kept this up thinking he might really be hungry as he was 18lb at 3mo (no idea what now, but his clothes are for 1 yr old...) but he is quite into solids now ontop of daily milk so he can't REALLY be hungry all night, can he? I am getting over tired though, stay at home with DS and DD(2.8) and we hardly get out to do anything all day as I am too knackered. Plan for tonight is for me to sleep in spare room, DH with DS in our room. DH to give FF at 10, and then do what he can to stretch DS till about 4 when I think it will be reasonable to feed him. Does this sound like good plan or not?? Any advice? (Please!)

when my ds was this age i did shush/pat with him as i thought he was still to little for pu/pd and it was to disturbing.

what i did to encourage him to sleep longer was every time he looked like stirring (he was in a cradle right next to our bed) was shush pat him, i would only do this for three goes in a row then if he was still stirring i would feed him.

i found that eventually he stretched from 4 to 6 hours then 8 then finally 10 until the teething problem started but that is another story.

i would have to say if it does not at least lengthen his sleeps until 6 hours then you need to look at other problems and teeth could be one of them at this age even if they don't pop out for months yet they still ache in the night.
