for 3 days in a row ds (2) has been getting up at 5.30am. Ive just got on with it thinking nothing of it then this am he got up at 4.30am! I told him it was time to go back to sleep put him in bed and he stayed there for half hourish and got up again. I got into his bed with him pretending to be asleep and you could tell he was just too awake. He wasnt crying or anything. Stayed in there for 20 odd mins and in the end got up with him.

Im pg and just cant deal with him up this early. dh isnt around in the week to get up with him. What do i do? Nothing has changed, he isnt ill, when in was in his room couldnt hear something that would keep him awake. Im so desperate! I though up at 6.30 was bad!

There is definitely something in the air - my DS is doing exactly the same, but I remember he also did at this point last year. I think it must be the light and summer approaching - as I remember, it does settle down and go back into the old time - we've gone later and later in the last 2 weeks (starting from 5 - today was 6.20) but I know just how hard it is - have a 7mth old and am on my own most of the time so I feel your pain! Last year with DS I think I resorted to bribery which worked a bit; this year we have a star chart and that is certainly helping. And i think last summer we did a lot of watching dvd's in bed.....it will pass! good luck with it

it's the birds - they start singing around 4am. DS (8 1/2 months) has been up at 5-5.30 every morning for weeks now. My head feels like it is full of treacle.

I was in with DD2 the other night and at 5am, what I assume was a bird, but sounded like a puppy, made a right old racket only for about 10 seconds but it was enough to wake her. Bloomin' nature.

I put a cd on repeat all night very low volume but it is enough to mask outside noise and the dishwasher etc. You could probably try a bunny clock if he is a smarty-pants, but he might still too little.

Its the birds. DD is up at 5ish most mornings. We have a sleeping bunny clock so can manage to persaude her to play quietly until he "wakes" at 6. I have just brought the no cry sleep solution and she suggested setting a radio alarm/cd player with timer quietly tuned to classical radio/white noise/lullaby to go off about half an hour before they wake to give them some soothing background noise so the outside noises do not disturb them.

That is the general gist. Not tried it so don't know if it works. That and make sure there is no light coming through by putting cardboard or something up at the windows.

Its awful, you have my symapathies. In fact I am off to bed now!
