i am not sure if i can use a grow bag yet. my 6 week old dd is 7lb 6oz and fights her way out of a swaddle. all the grow bags i see are for older babies. has any one used them so young. i am also concerned that her hands are alwys cold at night.

Have you tried one of the proper swaddling blanket things? I know they really only do what a normal blanket does at more expense but when our DD2 was fighting her way out of a cellular blanket we bought one of these from Mothercare (can get online cheaper but I wanted one that day!) and she has not escaped yet (we do let her out in the daytime, honest!)Think you can use the new Grobags now from 7lbs as they have press studs under the arms to make them smaller for little ones. We tried DD2 in one of her sister's Grobags but she didn't sleep half as well as swaddled so have returned to the baby caterpillar look!

Pud1, we used a grobag for our DS who was only 7lb odd at the time. You can use these from 7lbs upwards - these go for Grobags and for the Boots versions, but check with any others. Also, we got a miracle swaddle from Jojomamanbebe which has velcro on it - if done properly and tightly enough they can't escape. Don't be afraid to wrap them quite tightly - they actually like this!

HTH!
