Sleep

DS won't sleep unless blankets cover his head!

ds is 5 months and the only way he will go to sleep is to have his fleece blankets over his face and head. He will struggle and fight and cry for ages, as soon as i drop a fleece blanket over his face he's gone!!
Not really a problem becasuse as soon as he is fast asleep i take it off.
The problem is that he is now managing to pull it over his face himself and does so several times in the night - making me extremely paranoids and constantly waking up to take it off him!
Anybody else have a little one who does this? will he stop or is there a way to stop him doing it?? I'm trying to substitute his blanket for a little cloth teddy thing but it's not good enough so it seems!

My ds used to do this too at around that age and it used to worry me. He suddenly stopped it at around 6 months. Maybe you could try a sleeping bag and then let him have a muslin to put over his head.

Have you tried a gro-bag? It wouldn't solve the problem og him wanting the blanket on his face but at least you know he wont be able to pull a grobag over his head in the night. My sister swears by them and I wish I had known about them when my two were babies.

yep he can pull it over and push it off - only thing is as soon as he puts in over his face within 10 seconds he's out like a light!!
I've tried him with a muslin but he wont settle with it, has to be a fleece blanket!! He's in a sleeping bag and has his blanket in with him too otherwise he wont settle!

zeph - if only you could clone the magic fleece blanket and sell it - you would make millions!

my ds does this too - he's nearly one now - when he was smaller I moved it away from his face when he was asleep but I didn't stress too much about it. I was just grateful he's learned a way of getting to sleep by himself!

My DS has always done this (he's now 2)... in the morning it really is a case of 'hunt the baby' as you look in the cot and all you can see is a mass of covers...

lol excellent idea np!!! I must admit I sleep better with the covers up round/over my head too so it's all my fault!!
Glad loads of others do it too - i was just getting paranoid about him getting hot/suffocating etc!!!
