Sleep

Entertain me. I am sitting in the dark at the foot of a 3 year old's bed being shouted at.

dd2 says there is 'no milk in your feeds now mummy' (unsurprisingly ) and for the first time is trying to get herself to sleep

I am sitting on the end of the bed listening to her wail "I want to go in your bed" over and over again

if it wasn't dark I would probably be able to see her tearstained red face but as it is she is a fleece-covered dark blur

tell me jokes

find me pictures of Kiefer Sutherland with no top on

this could be a long night

yes she would be running around the house

if she wakes up she wanders into our bedroom and tries to get in

she would find it empty and start emptying drawers

I would personally sit outside the door .. as soon as I heard her set one foot on the floor I'd swoop in, pick her up and pop her back in bed and cover her up (maybe say shhhhhh but no words and no eye contact)

about 100 times first night
10 next

then never again

Frankly I'd be sitting at the end of the bed with a bottle of wine & a straw. Pretty soon the singing would drown out the wailing

CatIsSleepy · 12/01/2008 19:48

am thinking maybe you tapping on your keyboard may not be very restful for her
unless you type in an especially rhythmic fashion

Report
brimfull · 12/01/2008 19:48

oh yes the wine is a grand idea

Green-faced mummy - that's what's she's seeing!

Are you coping with the drama?

Has the wailing abated?

Report
Cappuccino · 12/01/2008 19:49

no I am not a saint ggirl I was a lazy arse

it meant I could sit on my bed watching tv and then carry her into her cot when she fell asleep

however she got too heavy and started waking up

I have made one of those rod things for my back

melsy you wouldn't fancy swopping mp3 files would you?

dd1 has a children's relaxation to listen to and also lots of poncy relaxation music

I think most 'good mother' decisions are actually stealth 'lazy-arse', really. I breastfed so I wouldn't have to get up nights.

aaah

now you are going through the painful extraction of said rod.

I wish you well

maybe some drugs
