I'm a maternity nurse and am so proud of my now five month old charge. I know I'm not a parent but who else understands sleepless nights like parents!
I've been with him since day one, I was the one to dress him after delivery. He was diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis at 10 days and had an operation at day 12. It was so scary to see him vomiting after every feed and losing weight rapidly - he was so boney while I bathed him. Then when he discharged he fed 2 hourly around the clock(and I'm was so grateful for my 24 hours off a week), so mother would BF him for up to an hour, and I would sit and support; then he'd sleep for 1-2 hours and then I would formula feed he'd go back to sleep and so forth. The Doctors recomended the combined feeding as he's lost so much weight and he needed to catch up. It was so rough and I was in tears many times and I so wanted to leave. But I'm so glad I stayed.
He's now a beautiful baby who melts my heart everytime he smiles, he sleeps 7pm(dreamfeed at 11pm)until 7amish. He has two long naps and one short nap during the day and is now fully formula fed(he was combined fed until 3.5 months). I'm just so proud of how far he has come. I'm now on the search for my replacement to take over in six weeks and will miss my little one but I've given him my all and am in need of a break.
Hope you don't all mind me posting, I'm came on here to look for solutions to is copious awakenings and after reading for hours and hours here realised that sometimes all babies need is time to get settled!
