First night in big boy's bed!

And so far he has cried at the babygate on his bedroom door for over an hour. I've been up twice in this time to encourage him back into his bed but as soon as I leave the room he is straight back out and crying at the gate again. Any tips? Or do I just have to sit and be patient.

He's 22mths btw.

Oh, I don't know. My instinct is to scrap it for a while until he's ready. It doesn't sound like he is.

But that's probably not helpful if you're in a determined frame of mind (and we all know what that's like).

Me? I'd leave it for a while. That said, I hope someone else comes on with something you actually want to hear

Struggling to leave it - he is climbing up his cot and I'm thinking falling from 1/2' would be less painful than 4'

What is it with kids? He's so bloody tired I can hear it in his whinge.....get back in bed and go to sleep you nutcase!

I understand.

He should be sleeping in his own bed at 22 months, but they all develop so differently. And they all have their issues.

What's he like now. Still crying?

Whimpering, I daren't go back up at the mo just incase he is stood at the gate.

Give it another quarter of an hour. You can't fight total and utter fatigue!

Anyway, I've just stared him in the virtual eye and told him to get some sleep

why don't you just lie downwith him till he drops off.
have 2.5 yr old ds
do this everynight, is really sweet and cosy
takes 20 mins
no stress for anyone
will learn to settle himself when he big and you can reason

It's a cot bed though - do you reckon it would take my weight - I'm nearly 12stone!

Still sleeping, he looks soooooo cute! I hope I don't have to endure many nights like that to get him down though - he is normally an excellent sleeper, in bed for 7pm then straight to sleep until 7am at least the next day!
