When did your little one drop naps?

DD is 20 months and sleeps from 7.30pm to 7.30am so she gets a v.good night's sleep.
Recently, she's refused her lunch nap several times and got through the day fine without it.
Is it possible she's starting to drop them or must it just be a phase?

DS is 18 months and occasionally goes without a nap. he did yesterday. He was grumpy in the late afternoon and went to bed early. DD dropped naps around her second birthday.

Ds is 2.4 and still has a daytime nap

Although he's getting increasingly difficult to settle at bedtime so I think I may have to decide that now is the time to stop!

If she got through the day fine without a nap then she's probably ready to give up. AFAIK children tend to drop the nap themselves when they're ready

Was just thinking about starting a similar thread. Ds is 2.2 and getting increasingly difficult to get to sleep after lunch, and he's started waking early too. I am praying it's just a phase as I'm 25 wks pg and could really do without him giving it up just yet!!!!

My dc both dropped their naps at about the same age.
Dontlookatme - dd did start day time naps again after ds was born, so maybe your ds will start them again too(fingers crossed)!

DD is 31 months and still has a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. Sleeps from 7-7.30 and is showing no sign of dropping that nap, in fact on the rare occasion that she doesn't sleep during the day she has a really unsettled night despite MIL saying 'I think she's ready to drop her nap'

I think even if a child doesn't sleep then they should still go for a 'quiet time' at some part during the day. My charges have given up there day time nap anywhere between 20 months and 5 years - but they always have had at least an hour down time.

My dd is 14months and still has 2 naps, morning is usually 40 mins and afternoon up to 2 hours, although try not to let her sleep that long as she's not tired at bedtime. Am trying to drop the morning one as she's not sleeping great at night, but by 11am she's exhausted.

ds is 3.1 and can go without a nap but will happily have one and then be a nightmare at bedtime

So... he tends to go without!!

Quite a big age range here.

Good to hear about the older ones still napping my ds1 is nearly 3 but still has at least an hours nap a day, and sleeps 12 hours at night. Everyone keeps on telling me he should drop the nap but I figure if it's not effecting his night sleep why?

On the other hand my 11month old gets up at 5.30am & only ever seems to manage 2x45min naps in the day I wish he would have a chat to his brother!
