thanks. I dropped to one nap today as I found that ds was having his first nap around 10am till 11am but it was hard to fit in the 2nd nap before the school run iyswim. I don't remember what I did with dd . He has now napped for 1.5hrs and I think he is stirring but he will never last until 8pm tonight! I do hope he doesn't wake at the crack of dawn tomorrow. Oh the trials and tribulations. Also he is coming up for 15mths. does that sound about right?

Hi, that sounds about right to me. I would put him to bed a little earlier if you think he is struggling. The more he gets used to having one nap then you will prob find that he will go down at this usual time.

I'm sure my dc both dropped 2 naps well before they were 2. I remember panicking that they would wake up early if they went to bed very early but they didn't, even if they went to bed as early as 630pm!?

2 naps just isn't practical sometimes, especially when you have other children. My ds dropped his naps altogether when he was only just 2, largely due to dd not going for a nap. DD, on the other hand still napped in the afternoon when she was 4!?

karen999/byu - good to hear your views/experiences - thankyou. He has now been asleep for 1 hr 50mins This is bliss [grin. ]I think that i will prob stick to one daily nap now that I know he can do it. It does mean we can go to mother and toddler groups etc. which he currently sleeps through! I just didn't want to push it if he was not ready. Thing is he will happily nod off at around 10am in the car/buggy but he would moan and grizzle when put in his cot. I guess it is a case of going with the flow for the time being. Did it take long for you lo's to adjust?

My second dd is 9 months so still has two naps! Dd1 stopped two naps at about 16 months. It was great as it meant that her nap after lunch would last two hours!! She would waken quite fresh which meant the afternoon was easier to get through. If we were out in the car she used to someitmes fall asleep but it was only little cat naps and didn't seem to affect her afternoon nap. You may find that during growth spurts there will be days where they may be more tired.

thanks karen - ds has now been asleep for 2hrs 10mins . he never sleeps this long! I usually have to wake him from morning nap and afternoon nap too so I am iguring that having one longer uninterrupted nap must be better for him? he is on cue for his normal bedtime too as i wake him at 3pm usually for the school run. Lovely!!!! . I still keep worrying that he is only 14.5mths but as I keep reminding myself, they are all different.

I'm sure dd was having one nap well before 14 months as I think she dropped naps altogether not much later than 2. it's hard to remember, wish I'd kept track. they indeed are all different

egypt - ta for input. ds's naps went titsup today. had to go on unavoidable car journey at 11am just when he ws waning. He inevitably fell asleep and could not be woken! He only had 45mins though. Now he will need another sleep before bedtime but it will have to be another short, late one as we have the school run. What a chore this is!
