naps doing my head in. please tell me how your active 9 month old naps!!!

ds has never been a good sleeper, but we did get him to the point of falling straight to sleep as soon as his head hit his cot mattress.

now he is cruising, crawling etc, and his daytime naps have gone to pieces. he used to nap 9-10, 12.30 - 1.30 then 4.30 - 5.30, but now i can only get him to nap 12-1 and 5-5.30 if he goes out in his buggy. he just refuses to settle in his cot at all in the daytime.

so please, let me know how your active baby sleeps in the daytime! is it normal for them to get edgy over naps? or is ds just being awkward?

how old is he? ds dropped naps at about 12 months and now will only go at 2:30pm for about 2 hours.

DS was always really tricky with daytime naps. Drove me to the very edge of reason. But I think I dropped his morning sleep at about 9 months. He was then more ready to nap after lunch. Might be worth trying to drop the late afternoon sleep too. You might find he sleeps later in the morning and can keep going 'til lunchtime.

if i were you i'd get him to nap straight after lunch so at 12 or 12:30 and see if he can make it to bedtime. if not get him to nap a bit later at 2:30.

ok, at least it is fairly normal for them to drop morning naps around now. I do find though that if he doesnt nap 5-5.30 or so he can't make it to a 7.30 bedtime... but it doesnt appear to interfere with nighttime sleep, so it's not a problem really

any tips for getting him to sleep in his cot?!

10mo DS sleeps about 10-11 and 2-3.

All my friends babies who are this age have 2 naps too. The older babies only have 1 nap.

DD is 10 months. sleeps 9.30-10 and 1.30-2 OR 11-11.30 and 2-2.30 depending on what we're up to

you need to push the 12-1 nap later to about 2 2:30ish so he isn't wanting a nap at 5.

My 9 mo has a morning nap at about 10.30ish and an afternoon nap at about 2.30ish.

If i let him sleep any later than 5 then he's not ready for bed.

I have been finding that every so often naps go to pot for no reason and then evenually get back to normal.
