should a 7mo be sleeping through the night? and how do i get her to do it without CC? help!

have decided to stop the 2-3hourly feeds as she is having 3 good solid meals a day and 4 breastfeeds and i don't think she really needs milk at night. but how do i do it? so far she has woken twice tonight and i don't want to leave her to cry. are there any other gentler ways of encouaging her to sleep longer at night?
i was going to feed her at 4am cos she usually wakes then and has a good feed so i figure maybe she is really hungry for that feed. but i really don't have a clue what i'm doing! help me please!!

I accidentally gave my baby a bottle of water during his middle of the night feed (forgot to add the formula) he drank it, fell back asleep and the next day I decided he mustn't need the milk so I patted him back to sleep and that was it from then on! It helped that i had him in bed with me so i could feel him starting to wake.

My dd is older but I gradually cut down night feeds and have now stopped altogether. To read how i did it look here

I don't believe that all babies stop needing night feeds at the same age, some might follow the book and stop at 6 months, others are still genuinely hungry many months later-you know your dd best so should know which category she falls into. Think keeping the 4am feed for now sounds like a good idea, as then you know she isnt hungry when she wakes at the other times.

BTW, i just completely made up my own method as i didn't think others i'd read about etc suited us so feel free to just take bits that you think might work and adapt them to suit you and your dd
