Sleep

How do you ever find right time to try and change things?

I want to try and change Ds (10ms) sleep patterns - think he might be able to drop middle of the night feeds and am planning to do gradual withdrawal type approaches.

But whenever I start thinking about doing this he seems to get another damn cold or he's teething or he's unusually clingy in the day time or he's not fed well during the day or some other reason why it doesn't feel like the right time to try and change things. Am I just being feeble? Or do other babies not seem to be always either teething or ill? I'm getting pretty desperate with sleep deprivation (and now back at work part time) but really don't want to take the risk of making him go without feeding if he's hungry or the comfort of bfing if he's ill or unhappy.

How will I ever find a time when it does feel okay to try and change things?

offer him water before th feed then replace it with water if its the comfort he wants not the feed remember to hold him close whilst offering the water so the cuddle is still there!

im afraid you just need to steel yourself and go for it. if you havent done any sleep training before do it with daytime naps first then you get the hang of it and its easier to do it at bedtime. I have done it (CC) with DD2 when she had a cold but not a fever. Good luck...
