happy sleep story - for all you sleep deprived

Just thought I'd share with you a sleep story with a happy ending. We had a difficult time with DS- increasing nos of night feeds to the stage where he was waking every hour and sleeping in our bed. couldn't go out at night for worry about how a babysitter would cope, couldn't do very much really. Didn't want to do CC, despite everyone telling us we should. I stopped feeding him and instead when he woke, we'd sit with him until he went back to sleep. Over time (and it did take some time) things began to improve until he eventually started to sleep 10 hours a night- heaven. Then for a long time we would put him to bed in the evening and have to sit with him until he went to sleep. This was taking longer and longer with some evenings it taking him 45 mins before he fell asleep.
Until this week. Last week I put him in and popped back to get his teddy, expecting him to start crying straight away - but no. He chatted for a bit then fell asleep and we haven't looked back since.
Feel very proud of DS. OK so he is now 22 months so its taken some time to achieve this but just wanted to say to anyone suffering from sleep deprivation that there will come an end and CC doesn't have to be the answer.

I took a similar approach with my DS - it took 18 months of hard work by both him & me but we got there in the end.

For those of us with babies who are horrible sleepers, it is good to hear that they do settle into a routine. Eventually.
