arh!!!!!!!!!!!1 With you now. Worked a treat on dd4 - she loved being cuddled to sleep but at 4 days old I was a cruel heartless Mum and taught her to sleep in her cot in her own room - think it only took a day!

She was very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you cuddled her she slept and slept and didn't want to feed!

She was fell fed and tired put her down for her nap she moaned - picked her up she was happy - put her down grizzled - carried on for ten minutes (ie up, down, up, down every 60 seconds at most) then she went to sleep - did this at each nap/sleep time then she didn't grizzle anymore in her cot just went to sleep.

DD2 never wanted to be cuddled to sleep she stretched out in her cot happy as larry from the start.

well it didnt go to well, and it was my fault.woke at 11.40 for 5 mins, then 12.45 for 5 minutes, then 1.45 for 5 minutes then at 2.30 i gave him milk,he slept till 5am then i kept trying pu pd but he was having none of it so i gave him toys to play with hoping for bit extra sleep but didnt work.now hes in bed with bottle in his mouth
i think i'll go bed early tonight and try extra hard.

You sound like you've got a tough time ahead! Have you got any friends/family who can help out during the day for a few days so you can try and power nap to help crack it?

My sympathies sleep deprevation is the worst thing ever!

Still working well for us. He rarely cries now at night if he wakes so, like you, we end up shushing a bit and putting him down if he stands up. I still think it's a fab technique, makes us feel much more confident if he wakes in the night that we won't have hours of crying and cuddling to get him off.
