Nap timings - same time or so long after waking?

Ds was awake a bit in the night so we had a miraculous lay in til 7.15!!!

I've been working hard at getting hin to nap in his cot and Mil managed it on Thursday. I did sat and sun. Today, put him in cot at 10.45. I pottered around, hoovered, then sat in the room. He looked at books, mobile, played, sang, lay down for ages. No sleep. Got him up at 12.

Have given him lunch but don't know whether to try again or just put him in the pram. I have to go out for a couple of hours at some point. Three different things to do so not long enough in car for a sleep.

How did it go? My guess is that 10.45 may have been too early with a wake up at 7.15. But you know your little guy. Mine manages between about six hours awake time in the morning( a lot i know but tends to sleep through) and less before bedtime. I do a mix of awake time and clock times as wake ups and nap lengths can differ daily. Mine is in this now:

6 WU (managed to sort that click change, yes, touch wood, wish I never said it now)
12 nap for 2 to 2 and a half hours, sometimes three
BT 7 but doesn't sleep until 7.30, or like today, if he has had a 3 hour nap refuses to sleep until 8.30 although I tried for the 7.30 Bt.

So guess awake times still count.

Ps my DS as you know my DS is the same age as yours x x

Yes 10.45 was too early. I think.i have left it too late before, and am still working it out. I gave up as have been getting a bit stressed out about it, and he's not a grumpy baby when tired. He fell asleep in the car just past 3 for 40 minutes, and then.......sleep at 7, slept through!!!! Til 5. First time ever!!
