Sleep

Desperate for help

Have a 3 month old baby and a nearly 2 year old boy. Dd2 is a very happy and sweet baby when she's awake. But she can not go to sleep without me bouncing or rocking her for up to an hour.

This is becoming impossibly hard. My toddler is being left to their own devices whilst I try and get her to sleep. It's been dangerous at times because I haven't been able to give him my full attention.

Please don't suggest wearing her in a sling (without sounding rude!). I have her in the sling nearly all day. Plus we cosleep and she's up 6 times a night. I NEED to be able to put her down for at least one nap for my own sanity.

If I leave her she just goes absolutely crazy. She won't take a dummy. There's definitely nothing wrong with her like reflux etc (my first had that and I know the signs)

I'm at breaking point. I hate to admit but I felt like dropping her. I obviously never ever ever would but I am so so tired and frustrated.

Can anyone please help?!

Have you tried any other positions? I know it's NHS forbidden, but I had great success with putting my DD to sleep on her tummy from about 6 weeks. I started just with naps so I could watch her like a hawk but once I became confident that she could easily turn her head from side to side I started doing it at night. I'm not condoning it because I know it's not for everyone, but it really worked for us. And if all else fails, just remember... This too shall pass! Good luck!
