Jay Gordon night weaning -can I dream feed?

I am here, yet again, in the hope of some advice to get some bloody sleep! DS is 14m and we did the Jay Gordon night weaning plan two weeks ago, i.e. he is 2 full weeks now since he was fed at night...he is now supposed to be sleeping. He is not. He is waking frequently. DH settles him back, and quickly, but it still means 4/5 wakeups during the night and then up for the day at 6. It's nightmareish. I can't go near him as he will take an age to go back. Now the plan says aim for 11-6am, fine, but he goes to sleep at 7 and doesn't usually start to stir till after 11. What do you think to a dream feed pre 11 to get him through? (Though of course he shouldn't be hungry but...) We really thought the effort of weaning would pay off and here we are as tired and cranky as ever :( Would really appreciate any advice from those who've done JG/night weaning/or just have a clue, I don't know what we're doing wrong.

He takes a 2hr nap in middle of the day, awake around 2pm, and DH doesn't have to lift him to settle back just a shush pat or often just a soother. TIA!
