When did your LO drop to just one nap??

Dd will be 11 months at the end of this month.

Currently only has one morning nap for 1hr 20mins and refuses her afternoon nap. This means she is so grumpy from about 4pm until bath time at 6pm. Tried really hard to get her to nap in aft but she won't or will go to sleep about 4 but this is too late so I won't let her.
Only good thing is she does tend to sleep better at night if she doesn't have the afternoon nap.

My dd has her morning nap about 3 to 4 hours after she's woken.
I can't wait for her to start having a later nap, say after lunch which would make afternoons so much easier as she wouldn't be as tired.

Just wondering what age did your LO's drop from 2 to 1 naps?

Thanks

My Dd didn't drop to one nap until 15 months, but that is much later than all my friend's kids!!

Yup, also somewhere about a year. DS now 2.10 and in the process of giving up that last remaining nap. Sob.

My toddler has two 1-2 hour naps a day. It doesn't seem as though that will change very soon.

Hmmm I think it was around 13/14 months. Same situation. He started refused afternoon nap. I therefore gradually made his morning nap later (used to be tired by 9, now I can push him to 10/10.30am). He is always up around 6am so thats 4-4.5 hours awake. I pushed it back by 10 minutes every few days.

He has just turned 2 and has slept from 10am-1pm ish for a nap ever since. Sleeps less and all over the place when with childmindet but this is what he does with us. Sleeps 6.30/7ishpm until 6am every night.

So 4-4.5 hours awake time in the morning and 5-6 hours in the afternoon.

Unless something dramatically changes over the coming months I can't imagine him ever being an afternoon nap child. We are the only ones I know of that have this big over lunchtime nap though. Most others I know will have an early afternoon nap for about 1.5 hours.

17 - 18 months. I tried it and it just didn't work tried again a few weeks later and she was ready so now has roughly a 2 + hour nap at around 12.30. Its a really hard judgment to make and they really are all different. Try it and if it doesn't work go back to two. My dd was nowhere near ready at 12 months though.

15 months, both of them. But they'd both sneak a quick ten mins in the car or pram if we were out and about late morning for a while

Dropped to 1 nap at 10 months. Have you tried pushing the morning nap back by say 15 minutes a day until it's after lunch (you might need to bring lunch forward a but to 11:30)?

Ilovemymonkey - yes I try keep her awake as long as possible so that she naps closer to lunch time but it's difficult as some mornings she wakes at 6 some mornings it's 5. Or the other day she decided to get up at 4am! Yes 4am!! So it's hard to set a particular time for her nap.

I'm not trying to force her to stay awake or nap more, she will do what she wants but just interested to know when it might change.

I go back to work in a week for 3 days p/w and I feel bad for nursery who will have to put up with her grumpiness in the afternoons so I will be please when she starts napping later in the day.

Eek 4am yes can understand why it's tricky to push the nap back. The only other thing we did was limit morning nap and wake them up after 30-45 minutes so that they are then ready for an afternoon nap.
Blooming mine-field the whole nap thing and just when you sort out the 2 down to 1 nap and think you're sorted they drop the other nap and it starts all over again Confused.

Last week aged 15 months. Long process though, had a few months of 'quiet time' in cot 9am every day, if he fell asleep I woke him after 30 mins as otherwise he wouldn't nap for rest of the day. Cut that out last week and he's still adjusting but does well on 1 nap.

About 15 months for number 1 and 12 months for number 2.

I never accepted 4 am as morning though. Even if I couldn't get them back to sleep straight away, by 6 or 7am I would put them back down to finish off their night sleep. Wake them at 8am and then start the day properly.

About 15 months. I distinctly remember pushing the pushchair for miles on a drizzly Christmas Day with her chirping and chattering away and Not Bloody Sleeping.

DD Started transitioning at around 11months, just about to turn 1 (eeek) and now mostly on one nap of about 2hrs from about 11ish. However on days when she wakes up earlier than usual and/or has a short nap then I try to encourage a second nap, if she refuses it then she goes to bed an hour earlier.

When she has a second nap she is usually grumpy when she wakes up and continues to be stroppy until she goes to bed, almost like she's pissed off that she might have missed out on something!!??

As I tend to just go along with things sleep-wise, everything is a bit all over the place at the minute, hope she settles into a bit more of a predictable routine with it soon!

I have also read somewhere that it's common for them to temporarily drop a nap around the time they learn to walk, but they can revert back to two naps after.....
