Sleep

Does anyone co-sleep with 2?

I have a 20 month old dd and am pg with number 2 (20 weeks). My dd has never been a good sleeper and has slept in our bed pretty much from day one. I have tried controlled crying, which was a disaster. She cries for hours, poos herself, makes herself sick and ends up so distressed and upset that she is physically shaking for about an hour afterwards. This upsets dp and I so much that she ends up in our bed. I cannot get her to go to sleep until we go to bed unless I cut out her daytime nap, which means she is cranky and horrible all afternoon. Last night she went to bed with me at 10, didn't fall asleep til 11 and was up at 8.30. She didn't have a daytime nap yesterday and doesn't seem to be tired. Do some children just need less sleep than others?
I'm at my wits end here and need some advice otherwise I can see us ending up with 4 of us in bed!!

my other is 3 and he climbs in with us 2-3 times a week my youngest 8 months always co sleeps has done since day1 as she has reflux

i know this sounds terrible but tbh I get more sleep and less hassle this way so bought a super king size bed!!!

i think you have to go with what makes you and the children happier moving her when the next one is born might be hard (it was in our house) or your baby might be the opposite and prefer not to be in your bed good luck with it

p.s. your dd might want her own bed when bump starts kicking my oldest used to say the bump kicked him in the night to get more bed!!!!

Some nights it's like a Brian Rix farce in our house. If a child gets in our bed, DH disappears off sharpish to sleep in the empty bed. One morning we both woke up in the boys' bunkbeds, all 3 DC were in our bed!
If the cot is a problem, have you considered a toddler bed (with a bed guard and a stairgate for safety?). Let her help choose covers etc, nightlight, make a big fuss about being a big girl etc. Then persevere with making a bedtime routine that suits you both. It may take a few weeks but it will be worth it, especially when the next one comes along.

Hey this sounds like our house! ds who is 3 has never ever slept on his own and sleeps with us every single night, well, i say us...
i actually end up sleeping in ds's bed and leave dh with him in our bed..its a bloody nightmare but ds too does the screaming until sick method, rips his hair out, draws blood, etc etc if you put him in his room.
