Usual story, was a good sleeper till the 4 month Mark. DS1 was the same and didn't get his act together till I night weaned at about 14 months.

DS2 is better in the respect that he goes down well at 7 and will happily nap in his cot during the day. But it a really come to a head the last couple weeks, I'd say maybe it's his teeth, but it reality I've got no fucking clue. Every hour, if that he's up, then he fusses for a bot 45 mins at about 4:30/5ish.

I am lucky in that my husband is great. We've resorted to him sleeping on the sofa,as I'm bfing, there's no point in us both being up all night, but he'll take DS from whenever he wakes for the day, be it 5 or 6 or 7 so I can get some sleep so I don't go on a killing spree.

Don't know what I'm after. I know it won't last forever, I'm just exhausted.

This won't be a popular view on Mumsnet but I sorted this with my dd by giving up breastfeeding and putting her onto a bottle. No regrets.

My 9 month old wouldn't be put down at all!! Managed between us through the day but nights were hard (prem and encouraged skin to skin in hospital the entire week! Sure just couldn't cope without any contact!) Ebf up til then - sent dh in the first night to settle with dummy (in his own room only a few weeks) woke 3 times. Second night sent dh in woke once. Slept through on the third night. Still does at 22 months. He was using me as a dummy /comforter. Mustn't have fancied a go on dh moobs so just went to sleep!! If u are there he associates u with boobie juice so send dh instead. No talking /fussing just dummy /blanket and leave the room.

Thank you both. babymamamama I do think you're right as it was night weaning that sorted it with DS1, and he basically gave up after that, he was 16 months when he stopped altogether.

I keep hoping every night will be better and I guess that's what's getting me through at the moment. Like "well maybe when these teeth are through he'll sleep"

We had this with DD. I can't remember what or how long it took but I do remember it wasn't as long as the 4 month one and she started properly sleeping through around the 12 month mark.

In the meantime I did all sorts of shit to try and fix it. Night weaned for a bit, then reverted after another rocky spell, gradual retreat for a bit, then I got sick of that and just stayed till she fell asleep.

My dad used to say a doctor's role is to entertain the patient while nature takes its course. In hindsight I think the same could be said for nocturnal parenting.

How often is DS feeding during the night, at every wake up?
